- It's surprising how often this happens - or maybe it's not? I had just finished playing something on the piano and Melissa jumped on. The lady asked if Melissa knew how to play Bohemian Rhapsody and Melissa immediately turned around and looked for me! Of course, I was more than happy to, and the lady reminded me, that it was "you know, by Queen". Every time I play this, it's based on how I feel, so it's always a little different, a little embellished, or a little more subdued. This time, it was a bit "more" I think, as the adrenalin was still pumping from before.

Freddie Mercury once said "You can do what you want with my music but don't make it boring". This was far from boring Cole. As everyone has noticed, this is the latest Cole Lam arrangement of this Queen classic. From that tiny little boy (aged 12, 3 years ago) who played the 100 million plus views version, to this, with the flourish of all you have learnt since, is amazing. I have been with you at St Pancras when Melissa has been there and I agree that she is an excellent pianist but I think she did the right thing to hand the piano back to you. She would not have delivered as you delivered. Really loved this latest version. Several people also spotted Patchubun there, so this must have been the weekend he was out of school. Truly Great !!
Bob, you are so right, that 22:16 minute (I think) set of Cole at 12 is an absolute treasure, but Cole has matured so amazingly as an individual and musician, one wonders just how far he'll go. Of course neither you nor I will be around to witness the pentacle of his career, but we can both imagine. Of course while I'll never have the pleasure of meeting him in person, as you have, his generosity of sharing his talents, thoughts and activities has given me the feeling, at least, that I actually know him.
@@donaddington6155 Thanks Don, I think we need to enjoy Cole and his music while we can. You are right that we are unlikely to see him reach the stardom that he justly deserves but you never know. He may get there earlier than we might think. You also never know, Cole may well bring his talent to Memphis and if he does, I am sure that you will be the first he will want to meet up with.
@@bobtoastmaster5442 Bob, of course you are right. Only God knows the future, and I'm sure you know I was thinking only in terms of probabilities. As to Cole coming to Memphis. if I had to, I'd have my son and grandson carry me to see Cole, and of course actually meeting him would make my meeting Elvis pale by comparison. I do realize how silly that may sound, but Cole and the entertainment he has given me really mean that much to me.

Funny but the singer in the band that I was in loved Queen but hated Bohemian Rhapsody. And, unrelated to Queen, didn't care for David Bowie's music at all

I have to agree with most of the other comments, this has to be one of the best versions of BR I've heard you play, and I've lost count of how many that is. I love the way you play from the heart and not how someone wrote it down. Your feeling for all the music you play is obvious but is especially clear whenever you play Queen.

My gosh, where to begin? The generous compliments here even inspired me. I can't imagine how pleased you are to hear such exclamations of joy from this new BR version. Did you really do this off the cuff without working on it before? This is the definition of a 12-year-old pianist who generated over 100 million views and the 15 plus yo maestro we see here. Your teenage size and complete mastery of the keyboard makes this look like you're handily delivering this masterpiece except during the most dramatic parts. And again, your crowd size is growing and just as mesmerized as they were before the shutdown. I love it when you and your dad are having fun partly because this is becoming just another of your typical shows in public. Except the crowd didn't have to pay $130 for a close up view. At least not yet. This is another big winner. I couldn't be happier for you Cole. Nice to see Patchubun enjoying the scene with you.

Gary, I take it from your comment that you enjoy watching the amazement and love for Cole on the faces of the crowd as much as I do. He has worked so hard for this acclamation and is so deserving of it. I have raved on and on about that 22:16 minute set from which the 100m view of BR came, and the performance in this video proves that prior performance was no fluke, Cole really is that good. Also, as you mentioned about his dad, Chi, I really think he has come to absolutely enjoy his role in going along with and supporting Cole in his journey. I think Chi has actually got fans of his own.

I remember hearing Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time on the radio in the 1970’s on my way out the door to go to school and it stopped me in my tracks!!!
I listened to the whole song totally mesmerized!
I became a Queen fan right then and there!
Fast forward now I’m a grandmother of four children and my two daughters have introduced their children to Queen just like I introduced them to Queen!
We are three generations of Queen lovers!

And plays Bohemian Rhapsody just like the late Freddie Mercury did☺️ I don’t understand, however, how some people at that mall just walked by without stopping to listen to his beautiful piano playing… I would have stopped immediately to feel his music, and would have sung along to Cole’s piano playing.😁
That train station is one of the Busiest in London.
It's not a mall, it's an international train station! Trains to catch, onward flights via connections and also... That piano is played every day, I used to pass it on my commute and I just wanted to get home from my day that started at 5am for a 2 hour train journey to get home at nearly 9pm. Plenty of people on that timetable.
Check out Brendan Kavanah (Alias Dr K) plays this piano regularly. Brilliantly.
