Thanks again for the shout Jason!
Taylor how’s tricks m8
@@vwcoco hey bud! Things are good. Opened my own shop finally, my friend and I are trying our handle at the CZcams stuff again. How’s things over there?
Laying on the roof and poking at it with a stick technique was my favorite. This girl really didn’t wanna let it go. Wow.
Mad respect for your determination and hard work! Been watching and learning from you for many years. After this you deserve a beer or two!
thanks man !
I don’t know what the record is, but I had a 70 Beetle back in the early 80s and I removed the engine so many times that I could get it out in less than an hour with a couple of jack stands and a jack. Keep up the great efforts.
Congratulations Jay you have done it. The world record is all your man. I am so proud of you. I felt your pain and I clapped when you finished your struggle. If they gave out medal s ,you would get the gold.
I would have been cussing up a storm after the first half hour. Your patience was rewarded. Loved "now I am officially pissed off"
Brother, that was one of the most frustrating videos I ever watched. I was so glad to see that engine finally drop. Back in the day I used to help a friend work on VW's as well as my own. I'm proud of you because I would have been using so many "4 letter" words the camera would have had to have been stopped. I'm sure you used them but we didn't hear them. Great job my man.
As hard as that engine was to remove that looks to be a relatively very clean body! Also shout out to Dub on his masterful timing and plug wire placement!
it's not too bad , yes Dubwerks is back to old timing tricks again lol
@@5150mxVW LOL good times.
I love the look of this car I wish they still made them like this. I’m glad to see you trying to put another one back on the road.
:), thank you Marty
In the words of the great, classic movie Galaxy Quest: "Never give up, never surrender!"
One the only things I watch on TV are your videos! Your knowledge of VWs and different features of each year is amazing. Keep up the videos!
The whole time I kept thinking...man don't scratch the paint. This is what I would call perseverance and not ever giving up.
Great video! I appreciate the realness of it. Not everything comes easy and this is very relatable. You have much to be said about your determination to keep going. Keep up the great work!
Never worked on VW's only older American cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. However I know the frustration. My cousin always said the bigger the job the bigger the hammer.
Love this channel even when it's not easy you never give up 😁😁😁😁👍👍👍
thank you Mary, much appreciated
Great video, I loved it. Your persistence and dedication to the task is second to none 5150, I really admire both of those qualities in you. Nothing will defeat you. The best line was …” it’s not all in the Bentley”, I lost it on that one. Great work and it looks like a killer car, looking forward to seeing more.
Feels so good to see I am not the only one that is struggling from time to time. These old cars that have been sitting can really get your blood cooking. Good to see you don't give up easily
My first car was a ten year old ‘59 convertible, it still had an oval window. My 3rd was a ‘59 panel van with the small rectangular rear window. The little windows are just cool.
Nice ! the pre 58 convertibles had an even smaller rear window than your 59'....
Wow! This was almost as bad as watching you struggle with the frozen pile of garbage in front of the under barn storage. I appreciate your determination
I really love the oval window bugs. It's a truly classic look!
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Exact same thing happened with our ‘68. Car had been sitting for 20+ yrs.
Spent 3 days trying to get out. Engine seized, would not turn.
Ended up pulling starter and sprayed 2 cans of pb blaster onto the flywheel/clutch/slave. Came back the next day, rocked it around and it came out.
Crazy amounts of corrosion on the flywheel/trans case.
Cleaned up flywheel, removed clutch, reinstalled and it fired right up!
Good luck!
Dang, that's commitment right there haha. Looking forward to seeing this project come along.
My son is rebuilding a 57 rag top. He has a new big motor for it and has changed it 12 volt. It's going to perform like a hotrod but look old with all new paint, chrome, interior, and a chosen color of his liking. It will be beautiful.
Ok now we want an engine tear down video!
Persistence class is in session! I have never experienced a drop this hard. Can't wait to hear about the updates!
You've taught me how hard a beetle engine drop is. Thank you.!
haha, well they are usually very easy when not seized
Love the 55 bug.The saying is, no pain, no gain. You got this, I've seen work harder getting VWs out and on a trailer.
thank you, this was the edited down 1/2 hour version of an 8 hour event🤣🤣👍
Jay, I’m inspired! Total commitment🤙
OK! I've never seen a beetle have a prostate exam... until now 😆
Wait until you and I work on the 77 FI engine 😁
@@5150mxVW bring it on! VW / Bosch fuel injection Clinic at 5150s shop... and there's a 63 ragtop that needs a little mechanical attention. It's funny watching a body man try to do a will it run😆🤣
Thanks ! Straight Ahead ✌😎
Tinnitus sufferer here. Banging that scraper hurts like f**k.
My wife seriously just asked what sport I was watching because of my vocal frustration. I explained it wasn’t frustration, it was empathy. I think I would have cut the studs long before you did. The Captain Caveman reference was awesome!
haha, well it took forever to get the slightest gap down there to try to cut them . ridiculous ! haha, thanks man :)
Well Done Jason, If it's any consolation, same as yourself I've fitted / removed many VW engines over the years - I just had a similar problem putting a 36HP Engine into my 58' it had been engine less and off the road since 1979 and the freshly rebuilt 36HP Just would not go in at all - several hours later and after a lot of persuasion and swearing it finally went in!
Keep up the great Videos!!
Wow, what a fight. Your perseverance paid off!
I commend your persistence Jason well done. That engine was a stubborn bar steward.
You know what would be funnier? If all that beating, pulling and moving freed up the stuck engine! 😂😂😂😂
Cheers from Argentina, man!!
Iam going to watch you again and again I love your persistence keep them videos coming son 👍👍
Proof positive that if you can be more stubborn than your 1955 Oval VW Beetle, you will always win in the end! Good job man.
Thank you , that was a 2 day event
I watched you struggle to get the engine out. I congratulate you for you determination and perseverance. The body is a little crusty but when you are done, it will be a beautiful Bug. I would love to see a full restoration, but you make the decision.
Wow!!!! That was a battle! Great video and showing a stubborn one! Gotta love north east cars
Your best work ever! I loved this video.
thank you .380, I really appreciated that👍
I appreciate your tenacity. I agree it’s a beautiful car
Love the fact he will not give up.
thank you Mark, this was HOURS....
You and Mustie make watching u tube so much better than TV
I don’t think i have ever seen one that stuck.
me either !
Wow!
Great job at getting the engine out Jason. That reminded me of the victory obtained when having severe constipation with hemorrhoids!
🤦♂️🤣
You know I remember the days when I owned a 67, and sometimes I reminisce and want to buy another one. Thank God for videos like this to change my mind.
haha, go get a nice 67
I was thinking about finding an old VW to restore , after this video maybe not...🤣
🤣 ! you can dooo eeeettt
How you haven't received 100% thumbs up just for the effort boggles my mind. What a struggle! a set of "jaws of life" would have come in very handy to pry that engine from the transmission. Glad you won the battle. Hopefully the rest of the restoration goes a bit smoother
thank you Gary !
Man Jason u have way more patience than I have well done
Epic struggle my friend. I'm hoping your back, etc didn't pay too big a price. When you had that 3 ft prybar in there earlier pointing vertical I was shouting to extend it with a longer cheater.....anything to save your back. Good work !!! In future please save your back. If you had that heart emoji I (and others) would send you a well earned pittance. We're not into long term promises I think.. The best to you.
Will it come out ? They all come out :) good work Jason 👍
Love your determination
Epic battle!))) Man vs. 55VW))) Thanks man!
That was entertaining !!!! Glad you got it out
I felt the pain of all that pulling in my joints and lower back in California.
You always get there in the end. That was one son of a beep. 👍👍👍👍
Brown locktite ,plenty of it here in the midwest.been there bro ,lol had my share of rust intake from working on all the jewels I dragged home .love to see her brought back to life and your just the nut to do it !
I've usually had the exact opposite problem when you just don't get the balance just right and the gen pulley wacks the edge of the apron . LOL good effort.
yes, i was waiting for it to fly right through the apron lol
Awesome Video
thank you Richard, I appreciate it
That looked beyond Stressful! I was feeling your pain 😦
That was a heck of a fight sir. Was funny though.God bless
Kudos to you on finally getting it out. Also for little or no profanity while doing it( you're a better man than me). Mechanical things at times, seem to be set on being frustrating. Although, I know in my heart, it is just a piece of metal with no agenda. I have found prayer quite helpful in these moments.
this engine should go the museum ✌ some piece of resistance and congratulations on your workout both physically and mentally 👌
Excellent content
Much appreciated Nick , that was a two day battle
My back hurts from just watching the video, I feel for you
On second thought your upside down crazy hair is working for you! Man that sucker with an f did not wanna leave home even at the age of what.. 63! Nice job your tenacity reminded me of your buddy mustie. Diehard fan Jason, keep up the fun!
Thank you
You needed the Jaws of Life to free the motor from the trans. 🤪
Wow….I guess you’ll never forget this…..😂😂
🤣🤣👍
Dam that thing didn't want to leave it's home did it Jason.. 😂
nope, it's not like it was the OG 36'R , let go ....it must of really liked that 67 fat bottom lol
Ol Oval LockJaw Biting Down Hard
Those Hardend Steel Studs made From American Tanks from WW-2
What a beast!!! Congrats bro!😁
What a work, finally is out. Nice
thank you JcF
Lovely rusty beetle!!
thank you
I just pulled the motor in my 73 today and it fought me not as bad as that one though
Trans input shaft is rusted onto the clutch disc. I’ve never seen that. I am not used to working on rust buckets.
How bad was your back after that? I was giving you plenty of encouragement and I was expecting you and the engine to shoot out of the back of the workshop! It would have been great content but a trip to hospital for you. Anyway well done for getting the thing out. Thanks Jason for the video. 👍👍
Jump House action, Chain Gang sounds, My new medication causes me to be "calm and relaxed" as well Jason 😅🤣😂, awe c'mon Jason, buddy, pal, friend.....I was just kidding..., use of Really Large Crack Pipes, Pro Wrestling, Acupuncture, wrenched backs, nearly torn rotator cuffs, more tugging and pulling than movies I have seen 😵💫 , and the Me hitting the "That Was Easy" button at the end of "Extrication of the Engine", the movie, also known as "Ground Hog Day' 😁. Who could ask for anything more, hehehehe. Thanks for the great video Jason. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee. Take care......
Looks like you were building some character!
I dig character :)
Jason, You should've done a collab with Mustie1 on this one; it woyld be a runner now. Maybe, you should give it to Mustie for a autopsy episode????
The struggle is real ! I would have tapped out!!
i wonder if one of those porta powers would have worked with the expanding jaws ... i think its called a duck bill ... any way if your back hurt before ... it must be really thanking you now ...lol great vid !!!
Really enjoyed this video, I laughed, you had me pulling and pushing that engine with ya……lol….
That was brutal 👊🏻
Patience of a Saint, I would of lost the plot, smashing things and getting knowhere. 😉
Te costó mucho trabajo pero al final lo hiciste
Buen trabajo amigo
Saludos desde México cdmx
Geez, I had to lay down after watching this.
Don't know what to say. Patience of a Saint or better you than me!
You should have taken it to one of them VW shows where they replace an engine in 4 min. see how good they are.
Haha, nice 👍
Good thing you disconnected that heater box cable!
haha right !
I have never seen one stuck like that I don't think any of us have
thanks David , i feel better :)
You capture misery and frustration more completely than any VW channel on CZcams.
🎥 and have a 🤬'ing blast doing it 😎
You are truly the king of realism. That’s why I subscribe!
I said every colorfull adjective I could think of watchimg you struggle Jason. 🤣🤣
🤣, sorry about that Paul
Great video again Jason any clues on the yz video or the other bikes next coming on here mate
I'm at the 16:00 mark. My suggestion is to raise the lift to it's highest, so when the engine (I call-em motors) does fall out (giggle), it makes one hellava splat.
A torch is your best friend for Rusty bolts. just heat them up.
I`m no expert but I love the look of car now but is it good for the future of the body? Will it get bad rust? If so I would definitely do a major restoration on a car this valuable.
LOVE the body patina!
👍
Holy crap man! You deserve a week off to rest your back after that wrestling match!
