I've always enjoyed the battle system in the original game. I was always intimidated by more real-time stuff that normal people have in their games, since I like the tactical parts of games like chess that are turn-based. The awkward middle ground that I hear people were complaining about was actually perfect for me! And even though I played the game after playing BotW for two-three months straight and getting used to something more real-time-esque, I still found myself enjoying the battle system in the game - don't even get me started on familiars. I could spend hours and hours flipping through the section on familiars alone in the Wizard's Companion
(That said, creature taming is my only complaint. Other than a reward later in the game, it can be really hard to tame a familiar. I've had my eyes set on one in particular for the past three days and still have no luck ;-;)

I liked this game but the having to grind to get a familiar you want to finally decide to join you was a pain in the ass!
I remember how enjoyable this game was. It is so weird that the remaster came out afterward. However I think aside from the movie, they’re working on a 3rd game. :D

I've done the story and most of the free roam content on the ps3 over five times now, but i still want to get it for the ps4
They're not putting it on the store until the 11th hour, i guess.
Do you get the original dlc familiars? (griffin, moth, gold hurley)? You should get them after 'trial' once you have 3rd character.
I heard they are NOT in the game
I heard you have every dlc ps3 had, even specials dlcs.
EDIT: They are in the game! You get all the special tickets very early in the gamw
This is still my favourite game of all time. Getting it both on PS4 and Switch :)

I don’t think you can go wrong with either one, honestly.
Link's Awakening is one of my favorite Zelda's of all time and the remake is great, but honestly you'd get more bang for your buck with Ni No Kuni in terms of content. Links Awakening is a great game for 45 or even 50 bucks if you can find it at that price, but 60 *may* be a bit much depending on how you look at it. Again, can't go wrong with either in the long run lol
Is it better to play this game in 60fps or 30fps in 4K? I have a 4K tv and a PS4 Pro. What are your impressions?
60fps 1440p all the way. It’s a little clearer at 4K, but the 60fps mode is still a resolution bump over standard PS4 and you get twice the frame rate.

Really wish the Remaster Version on Switch, since I don’t have any way to play it other than Switch, but I guess that’s the way it is.
Think I'm gonna pick it up on PC. I just don't know how I feel about them charging almost full price again. And I was hoping they at least tweaked the ally AI a bit so they didn't burn through all their MP at a stupid rate haha. But I dealt with it before and I'll deal with it again. Great vid as always :)

2:30 the game is unchanged not true the switch port does include all dlc familiar tickets that were otherwise unobtainable in ps3 version besides dragon familiar witch which was and still is available on PSN store the switch version also includes the most OP AND BROKEN FAMILIAR Griffey the griffin witch you could only get on ps3 version if you preordered on amazon
I'm really happy to see this on modern consoles, looking back, this is kind of the game that kicked off the current RPG Renaissance. Also, is it bad that I'll probably be buying it on both Switch and PS4? xD
Pretty overpriced at $50 for a pretty old game, but I'll still pick it up on a sale since I own the original on PS3.

I didn't play the original, but I recall folks complaining that your party member's AI ruined the game in the end, has that been fixed? Or was it never really that much of an issue?
I don't remember party member ruining this game for me back when it came out originally. It's a brilliant game and shouldn't be missed if you didn't play it the first time round
It was your familiars that ruined it for me/ battle system and somewhat boring looking characters that join and not enough imo.

i really want to get this as I've never played it but $50 is way too much money for what is a direct port. Simply upscaling the resolution and framerate is NOT a remaster, that's simply what you get with playing a port on a more powerful platform. This is a marketing term being used to justify spending a premium for.

I wouldn't do that if I were you the switch version seems to be very very buggy especially in cutscenes and has framerate issues in some areas. There's a video by Nintendo Enthusiast I recommend checking out to judge whether or not to buy it.

I really wanted to get this on the switch, but it is disappointing that it's not improved for switch.
Blame Nintendo the cheapskates who doesn't deliver a proper hardware. Who is going to release a hardware in a time like this with 4gb as hybrid hardware? Nintendo did again... first WII.. underpowered and wasn't next gen at all. It matched the first XBOX which was released not much later than Gamecube. WII U same case... a little more ram but it matched Xbox 360 which was also release wayyyyy earlier. Switch same shit. That's why don't buy those shit from Nintendo! They are just Apple in discuise... release the cheapest hardware as possible with lowest cost to them and demand the same price as the next gen hardware with even less HDD space on their hardware. At least PS4 and XBOX one gives you 500gb or 1TB. Nintendo sucks

You’ll be even more disappointed to hear the other versions aren’t remastered either. They just run at a higher res/framerate, something all ports do when running on more powerful hardware.
You might have a point if it wasn’t a portable console. It was just a box that played games on the TV then absolutely it should be cheaper. But it’s built with a mobile chipset and a battery and a built-in screen like a phone would be. And you don’t complain complain your $800 phone should cost cheaper, do you? No, because you understand it’s mobile tech. The rules of the game are different when you’re talking about a mobile device

The original game wasn't exclusive to PS3. There was actually a NDS version that came out first, but was only ever released in Japan.
The original Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was, yes. :P
Funny that you mention that the character models look dated when the character models look better than the handrawn scenes

@@JRPGCentral not saying they look bad just that the game looks brighter. It's just one being 3d an the other being 2d. To me the game looks great but that's just me liking cellshaded graphics
It still looks great, just not quite as good as NNK2 imo. Which is understandable.
@@JRPGCentral I love and hate the second one I love the combat hate the rts minigame and that the voice acting is so inconsistent.

I wanna add one thing. Do not use Japanese language. Use English language instead. Not because "much better", it's because somehow, when you change into Japanese language, you will trigger a bug that effect Defend/Evade, and Enemy's Desperation Move Cancel inside the game. I have finished this remastered in English once, and when I play a New Game again to try Japanese language, that happened.

@@JRPGCentral I do not know exactly how and why, but it just happened. Also, it's more visible with Evade command. The bug is that when an enemy using a Desperation move, and then you defend/evade, while entering the attack sequence, somehow the Timer for Defend/Evade still continue, and you would see your character entering Stand By mode instead Defend/Evade during mid-attack. It sucks... Only in Japanese language.
@@JRPGCentral If you want to test it, try test it with Shadar's Battle. Switch to Japanese language before Load the file. If only we could send at least gif here, I could show you the comparison.
@@JRPGCentral Just some extra info, my difficulty was Normal Mode. The familiars were (Oliver) Mite, Puss, Trappy, (Esther) Donggo, Unripped Babana, Ray, (Swaine) Monolith, Jaba...grumpy?, and Lemahl. All are Final Form. Sorry, I am not that great at remembering their species name.
@@JRPGCentral I probably just going to guess that this may caused by 60 FPS. I mean, if you remember KH 1.5+2.5 with the Save File Error, or Crash during certain Boss Fight. However, if you switch back into English language (for Ni No Kuni), it would be back to normal.
The game run perfect in RPCS3, so there was a way to play it on PC.
The original Ni no kuni was for DS, japan only
What does remaster even mean now? Put put pants on GFs?
its not even a "remaster" none of the graphics or character models got re-textured. it's a direct port just with current settings of 1080p and 4k in 60 fps for PS4 & PC....that's it.
an actual remaster is FF12 on modern consoles or more recently FF8
The PS4 and PC versions are remasters, the switch version is in fact a direct port
@@AsakuraEX they're all direct ports, only PS4 & PC give modern resolution and fps settings..thats it. There's nothing "remastered" about that, its buzz words for marketing. No new content, no retextured character models/graphics, no QoL improvements. These ports are the exact same game from 2011.

The game has ok story. beautiful graphic, pretty much beest part about it. Japan, you need to stop RELEASE TURN BASE SHIT + SHIT CRINGE STORY. Improve these, dont just focus on gameplay because without character, story it's an emtpy shell
Ni no kuni gameplay is just blank. pokemon is still better
