Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. Watch here for hilarious magic, stunts, and pranks. Fun challenge: You and the guys competing to do the worst piece of magic, but playing it completely straight! It would be so interesting to see you all having to overcome your professional instincts to do it well.
Or one of you give one of the others an impossible trick and see if they can pull it off
I'm a magician and I have successfully performed the last joey trick where he looks at the card. It was a party and I did it as a test to three girl to "see if they're sober enough" to be watching magic tricks. I expected them to see what I was doing and show them that they are not too drunk (one of them was driving and sober). However they noticed nothing which probably left me more amazed than them.
I had a gimmicked "rising card" deck in 1972, so it was definitely available.
Leslie Nielsen in Airplane. Woman with eggs coming out of her mouth. It's not presented as a magic trick in the movie but it's a classic concept and trick none the less

I recently watched ‘the illusionist’ on amazon prime and it was AMAZING. I think that one now sits just above the ‘now you see me’ sequel on my favorite magic movies list.

Love the friends card trick. My son (11) once tried to do the “is this your card? Trick, but his version was asking with every card was my card until he got it right. He is super witty. The funniest part was I didn’t put it in the deck, so he went through the entire deck -1 and said “well I guess you did it wrong”. Then I pulled it out of my front pant pocket and he says “tada! See I made it appear in your pocket!”

The rising card trick has been around since at least the early 20th century. You can buy various versions of vintage RC decks on eBay.
Should do the one from Big Bang Theory where Howard kept guessing everyone's cards and Sheldon couldn't figure out how. (S4 E18 "The Prestidigitation Approximation")
Hey! TV Series Blacklist Season 1 ep towards the end the main character Liz Keen does some nice card moves.
I’m pretty sure the late, great Ricky Jay consulted on a lot of John C Reilly’s films including this one. He’s in the movie. . The two of them apparently were fairly good friends.
There’s an outstanding video here on CZcams of Ricky dealing poker and telling various tales. Pure gold and a must see for any magician.

I love these videos. I never paid much attention to magic in movies and tv shows really. Now, every time I see a magic trick, I critique it like I'm a damn magician. I don't even know a card trick! But this series makes me question Everything! Good job Wes...for ruining magic for me. lol. I love it and can't get enough of it.

How about the Neil Patrick Harris vanishing trick during the 2013 Tony Awards opening number? He disappears from the stage and reappears on the other side of the theater. Not quite sure why it appeared in my recommendations, but the moment I saw the trick, I immediately thought of you.

All u had to do for the apple trick is slow it down 🙈 there is a looooot of cuts, BUT he has the apple in his right hand from the start. I was wondering where he got it. But he had it from the beginning. As soon as u see him u can see him palming the apple . He flashes is when the camera cuts back to him actually. When his hand goes from the right to left. (his left to right)
I just looked at how the pepper's ghost is done. It's freaking amazing!

Correct me if I'm wrong about this but in the Illusionist one: if it were really Pepper's Ghost then the cuts to the camera from behind when she turns to look back at Edward Norton wouldn't have worked right? Doesn't Pepper's Ghost only work from one angle?
My grandfather was a magician who died in 1976 and the rising card was one of the tricks of his that I inherited.
Just mentioning it again in case it got lost in your queue, but I did go back and watch the first episode of The Magicians and Quentin does a coin trick really early in, like first ten minutes. It looked legit to me, anyhow.

Thinkin about it... If you had a double of any card... You can really pull off the Joey from Friends card trick and make it work... And find a way to vanish one of them to have the deck be inspected after...

The Gilmore Girls clip WAS REAL. HE REALLY DID IT. If you watch it frame by frame, you can see he is actually holding the apple in his hand the entire time and it 'flashes' for about 3 frames after showing the backside of the cloth
