    Thanks Andy for this video and truly..you explained the Floorplan generation via scan data very nicely. It would be great if you can provide tutorial on how to generate Elevation and Sectional drawings too from scan data for the same project..thanks in advance.

    Great step by step process, Can't wait to see some more advanced process videos like the ones Daniel Overton from C.R Kennedy does.

    Hi Andy, useful information as always. I find using the UCS to align my projects is a far better option. This ensures the building maintains its true position and real-world coordinates (by reverting to WCS). It can be misleading, confusing, and potentially litigious by moving the scan from its real-world coordinates. Often the building is related to a topographical survey and moving it from its true location can create problems.

      True, great video but rotating the cloud wasn’t necessary

    This video has given me an absolute epiphany on having the full screen crosshairs! Why have I spent so many years drafting in 2d without turning this on. Baffling.

    Hi Andy thanks for your videos. I find them very helpful and educational. Looking forward to see more from you. I would love to see videos like e.g. checking building facade flatness or building verticality which are very popular tasks in the construction industry. I am sure laser scanning is the future for such tasks. Thanks again and greetings.

    Thanks Andy, this is really helpful! I would like to ask you, is there a need to have a CloudWorx license since someone can draw the floorplan in AutoCAD? What is the benefit of having CloudWorx? If I am right, CloudWorx can open only lgs files or a project from Register 360, so what if I had just the rcp file?

    • @LeicaBLK
      @LeicaBLK  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi @Entropia1981! No, you can use plain AutoCAD if you’d like. However, CloudWorx manages the point cloud radically different than native AutoCAD. There are massive gains in responsiveness as well as the full ribbon of tools that are added. CloudWorx can read the LGS format, it can also attach to the RCP, and it can read data from Register360, Cyclone CORE, and soon to come, Reality Cloud Studio.

    Great video! Could you tell me if you are using a certain Add-in for this work? Basic AutoCad?

    • @LeicaBLK
      @LeicaBLK  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! In this video, I'm not using any special add-in, only the tools that are native to Basic AutoCAD. There are plug-ins and add-ons that can make some of these tasks easier and faster, but I didn't use anything special in this tutorial.

    • @LeicaBLK
      @LeicaBLK  Před rokem +1

      Yes, it is! Users can simply create a section plane oriented according to the XZ or YZ plane.

    how much precision you can reach with this metod?
    we have a tollerance of 2% in the measurement, it's enough?

    • @insaisissable3938
      @insaisissable3938 Před 3 lety

      2% it’s 2cm to 1m. The resolution of the blk goes to 6mm at 10m. This is roughly 0.06%.

    Hello,
    Great video. I was interested in converting point cloud scans of pipe networks within our tunnels at our sewage treatment plants at the City of Portland.
    Would this technology be a good fit for this type of work? any suggestions?

    • @LeicaBLK
      @LeicaBLK  Před 3 lety

      Hi Kevin, This would be the perfect technology for mapping out current pipe networks. I don't cover this workflow in this video, but there are tools specifically for extracting pipes from a laser scan and creating a 3D model. I would recommend talking to one of our sales reps to help you figure out the best scanner for that particular environment- you can fill out this form: shop.leica-geosystems.com/contact

    Please document both an open staircase as well as one between two walls in a floor plan. These basic plans never ever show the creation of stairways.
