  • Currently we have found that the Taiwan Provincial Security Command had set up offices of mountain security on many mountain passes (ex: Alishan in Chiayi and Jaoban Mountain in Taoyuan) and deployed police and military troops in indigenous villages since 1950. These offices were withdrawn around 1960, and on the current buildings, there is not any clue of the past.
This project means to reconstruct historical memories and archives during the authoritarian rule through oral history and video documenting of people who had been affected by the political oppression, so a more complete picture of the White Terror in indigenous regions will be drawn out. This project was initiated by the National Human Rights Museum and conducted by the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Foundation. Based on declassified archives and oral history, and through visual media, the interviews and filming of victims and incident sites are able to provide Taiwan’s society with the truth of the persecution of indigenous peoples by the authoritarian government.
