    Now you have shown the importance of gear box maintenance by the condition of the fluid and metal shavings. Great video

    I just got finished replacing the fluid on my 2018 Escalade, Front Differential. The more complicated part was removing the black cover. The fill plug was on real tight and the drain plug very loose. Only difference is I used Amsoil Gear oil. 75W-90 severe gear oil. I thought that at 15525 miles the fluid was going to come out like new. Boy what a surprise. It was dark and there were some filings on the drain plug magnet. I had done the transfer case at 11500 and found the fluid to be really dirty too. I know this is waaaayyyy before what the book wants you to do, but having done it I am really glad I did. I also change my oil every 5000 miles. To me all this is cheap insurance. I enjoy doing this sort of thing and I save so much on the labor it would cost at the dealer its a no brainer. I do have a couple of torque wrenches and I would recommend using them. I'm not a mechanic so I don't need the very best there is I just got one that was good for the few things I do. On this occasion I used my Park Tool torque wrench. Next adventure will be the rear diff and then the transmission, the latter being a bit more intimidating. Thanks for the awesome video!!!!!

    Great vid. I would have never thought of using the bottle jack to help with the trans pan that was a definite cheat code.

    Great video my friend. You do a wonderful job explaining it all. I just had all mine done at the dealership and it set me back about 600 bucks. I’m getting to old to do what you did, but I really enjoyed watching it. Luckily as you get older you usually have enough money to pay you young guys top dollar to get er done. Loved the video.👍👍❤️

    Great job on your fluid changes, We were waiting to hear all of fluid type weights on rear diff. Front diff your showed full sym 75 90. Oil we could see 0 20 full sym . Did you reuse Trans pan gasket. Was the jack you used the one in vehicle to make clearance to remove pan .and What gm oil filter on the new 6.2 .
    PF 63 ? Few more minutes and how many exact quarts on everything could have made it. Perfect. Thank again. 👍

    The differential need to be cleaned out. There is always metal below the ring gear. You have to take off the cover. Run it with the new fluid for a few months, then drain it by removing the cover. An extra change will actually help!

    just bought a 2015 escalade with 50k miles 2015. It drives very rough due to what seems like transmission problems. Car clunks into gear when rolling down hill no gas. Sometimes car delays when going park to drive and kicks into gear 2 seconds later. Rolling out from a stop and car goes into neutral for half second then slams into gear. It always feels when going up hill like the car is in too high a gear. Now the thing is that I don't know if it had the 50k service. Do these sound like items that could be addressed with service? Any way to check the car to see if it was serviced. There's no dip stick for the tranny. I know there are a lot of folks that say differential and trans flushes seem to work wonders, but other that say flushes can hurt. Thank you and great video!

    You are pretty picky, so why did you not waste a little fluid to run it through prior to filling them up? Just wondering. I don't have that many miles on my 2018 but I think I'm going to change both as soon as the garage floor is a little warmer.

    is the only way to refill the transmission fluid on these trucks with a pump. I had an 09 Yukon and I could refill from the top tube. I can't say I've even seen one on my 2018 Escalade, but honest I haven't looked. I only have 14,600 miles on it.

  • @Cocora22
    @Cocora22 Před 4 lety

    You have something I don't. The 2018 rear differential cover does NOT have either a drain plug or a fill plug which makes it annoying as hell. Only choice is to remove the cover. Sorry, does have full plug of course.

    Good video but I’m not sure I would use your trick for lowering the exhaust pipe. A Jack under pressure over your head while working is not the best idea and you really should consider using some eye protection when working with fluids my friend. Safety first should always be rule #1.
