Okay so it has been a couple of weeks since I updated you on this exterior makeover!! It’s been a long process but I am loving the direction it’s going in. In this episode of Making Home, I am completely fixing up the landscaping in my backyard, fixing up my storage solutions and overall cleaning up the space. I also added in the most AMAZING couch from Article. I got the Lubek Section and tt’s so modern and such high quality BUT such a good price. It has a low profile and is built from a solid acacia wood base so I know that this one will last a long time. As soon as you put the dragonfly on the green door I was like Yyeesss this looks so good together. The color tones complements each other so well! Please reconsider putting it on the door, it looks so pretty and unique

I’m always so impressed how the sorry girls dare to paint and stain furniture in beautiful clothing and not get them stained!

and also a tiny mat that goes under the item they are painting! ie...that cute basil planter! I would of spilled, stained and probably tipped over the whole thing on that tiny piece of cardboard! LOL!
I literally think that every time I watch one of their videos! How do they look so cute (and stay clean) while they do such hard work?! I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that. :)

I think a black trim around the front door would look nice :) it would match the window shutters and also, bc the green and the brick are so similar in tone (it kind of seems to blend in) the black would help it stand out/separate a little bit more :)

Love the new door but for safety I’d suggest adding some clear safety film to the inside. It’ll prevent anyone from just breaking the glass to unlock the door.
I’m sure she and her tenant both have locking doors inside the entryway!
I came looking for this comment….it creeps me out so much that she’s gonna have just a clear glass on her front door, I know that it leads just to a small entryway, where are more locked doors, but I would still add a frosted film or something😬
I live in Toronto (seemingly around their area) and about 90% of our main door is glass, yet nothing's ever happened. Same situation, with multiple tenants in one house, and inner locking doors to separate units.
The house I’m currently renting the front door is rectangular glass panes from top to bottom, and there is no entryway with more doors/locks, it opens right in to our living room. I also live in the city (in the USA) kind of in a bad part of town near a major university and still it has never been a problem. we just have blinds over it for privacy, bc it’s in our living room, so I think this will be fine.
If you're not sure how old a door is and if it has lead paint for whatever reason, just do a lead paint test. That way you don't risk it by sanding it down and you can strip it instead.

I vote to save the dragon fly!! It's such a perfect quirky accent, and it's probably been there at least 40 years. People will notice it, then immediately forget about it, and then the next time they arrive, will see and be like "on yea, hers is the one with that dragon fly!"

Wow that sofa looks so good in the space!! Also I think you need to leave that trim white around the door, it makes color of the door pop and also ties in with the windows, if you color trim the same color I feel like the door itself would ”get lost”! The contrast does a nice job separating red and green and make colors stand out nicely

There's a paintable caulking, i just used it for a window pane project for the exact same issue on your door. it helped a bit.
You can also have caulk tinted with paint!

@@melinspiration8255 yep! I worked for Sherwin-Williams for a few years and we did it for one of our contractors all the time.
You should not caulk on glass to wood. You should glaze with putty which is paintable

Green plants wont be there when the winter comes. So something that wont look so cold on snowy days.
Keeping the trash enclosed like that is a great way to make sure your nightly friends don't get into it and get sick. Love the concept of happily coexisting with preventative measures.

I vote YES on the door knocker. Everything looks GREAT! Super love the trashcan bench container, what a great idea, I love it. I like the front door color also.

I feel like "I don't want people to feel like they're being hit over the head with the same shade of green" is the exact opposite of "I don't want people to walk into the room and be like 'wOaH this is a different shade of white than the other room! This room has metal accents but the other room had wooden accents!!'" 😂

Use aquarium silicone to reseal the glass--you'll need to peel out the old stuff with a utility knife first, but you should be able to get a pretty edge with new.

Good idea to spread the sofa bits to two places. It ties together and makes everything function. I think it is just wonderful. So thank you to the people who provided it. Good design and fits well with your space. Love dragonfly. If new door not conducive to putting it below that door's window hold off until how to use it becomes apparent. It will. Proud of you.

I have this outdoor ikea table! I love it but after doing some research I learned that you’ll get a way better life out of it if you put a clear outdoor sealant on it. It’s been great ever since 👍🏼

I have the same IKEA table (& chairs to match) & didn't know they sold the stain! I'm going to have to get some so I can stain other outdoor timber we have to match rather than trying to find pieces in a similar colour ☺️

I've had a front door with glass for a very long time and there's been no attempt at breaking in. And yes, I live in Canada 🇨🇦
@@Kath-Erina Most designated exterior doors have smaller windows to prevent a burglar from putting a hand or a tool through a space and undo the lock .or they have heavier tempered glass, but I am no expert
Even if they did, they would only get into the shared hallway. Because Kelsey and her tenant each have their own entry from the hallway, so that’s a second door they would have to break in

I love the color you choose for the door! They make paintable chalk. And if you just paint it without taking a razorblade scrapper you can get the lines closer & just scrap the paint right off the glass. Tapping it kinda limits how close you can get the paint, because the lines are straighter than the actual area between the glass & the outer wood lines. I hope that makes sense.
