I am so grateful to have received these brushes in PR, and thank you to Sonia and Beautylish!
I failed to expand upon the significance of the Lotus Flower, so here is an excerpt from Flowerglossary.com:
"The durability of the lotus flower is a major contributor to its association with the gods. However, they can die, and sometimes do in natural disasters. The catastrophic flooding of the Yangtze River in 1954 killed all the lotuses in the area. Three years later, the water had finally receded.
Once normal water levels returned, the flowers began to grow again in the shallow part of the lake. The floods tore their root system, but their seeds survived. The seeds scattered around the lake, restoring its abundance of lotus flowers. Interestingly, even if lotuses hadn’t returned, they could come back centuries later. Their seeds can survive for thousands of years without water.
The lotus has a unique daily life cycle of life, death, and rebirth. This has led to the phrase, “lotus flower of life”. That is why its meaning is often “rebirth”, and why the flower is frequently tied to spirituality."

To add to the inspiration of the lotus flower: there is a Chinese saying that the lotus rises out of mud and floats above the murky waters, and is not tainted by it - ie, we come through adversity but maintains our integrity, or sometimes used to refer to the mindfulness above physical or material wants. The lotus is also strongly associated with Buddhism, as the lotus appeared in Gautama Buddha first steps after he attained godhood.
All the lotus can be eaten - the root is commonly braised, stir fried, or stuffed with glutinous rice and steamed. The seeds are usually dried, and either cooked into soups, grounded to a paste for mooncakes and other pastries, or I’ve even seen a bag similar to chickpea chips in a posh supermarket! The young shoots are more seasonal and typically stir fried with shrimp or served in those healthy spa meals.
Thank you for sharing this, Sharon! And I also read that depending on the color determines its association? That the white lotus has a meaning, the yellow a other, and the pink one specifically aligns with Buddha. This is extraordinary, everything from the Lotus itself to what it represents.
Some people just do unboxings of massive amounts of PR, and you never see them use it or review it at all. It can be pretty counterproductive, and often makes me wonder about companies that send it out. You are completely different. You go into detail on things, you compare, do looks, discuss quality, and actually are interested. You're always gracious and make makeup fun, which imo is what it's all about. Please know how much you're appreciated! Can't wait to get my set of these in the mail tomorrow! ❤

This is it (lol)! I ordered both Sonia G’s brush sets. I absolutely went nuts when I saw that Lotus set. I love purple and the craftsmanship is stunning . I had been going back and forth between Wayne Goss’s new set and the fusion set. I desided that the combination of the goat and synthetic fibers would be more beneficial to me. This is the first Sonia G brushes that I ordered. Excited to get them. No more brushes for me, at least for now. I will focus on my technique using them.

Oh my goodness. Alicia thank you so much. When you spoke of synthetic brushes moving the skin and natural hair doesn’t -The light bulb went off. I ran into my room snd pulled out an eyeshadow and two brushes. One synthetic and one of my repher brushes. Now it makes sense. I noticed when I use certain brushes my skin moved a lot . I’m just turned 57 so I know I have again skin but couldn’t figure out why some looks did it and some didn’t. It’s the brush I use. Thank you so much. The natural hair brush doesn’t move my skin at all. Everyone you do brush reviews I learn something new. Appreciate you so much .

I hate to be the one to warn you but it won't be your last. 😬Once you see how incredible and well made her brushes are fogettaboutit!....My favorite are the Sky Sets. I told myself the last thing I need is more makeup brushes and just ordered the Lotus set. This while I wait for the Fusion set to restock as I am getting more and more into cream makeup products. While I love them all, my wallet weeps uncontrollably.

I saw that as well! Even though it’s tempting, I would get Lotus and maybe one or two brushes from Fusion because that set is permanent. Are they’re any holes in your makeup routine that might need a Fusion brush?

In 2018 my very first natural bristles brushes were Sonia G's and eversince I can't go back to synthetics (I gave away 3-quarter of my insane amount of synthetics face & eye brushes) .. since then I've been collecting ONLY Natural Bristles Face & Eye Brushes, they are worth every coins I've spent on them [ Sonia G - Chikuhodo - Koyudo - Rae Morris - Wayne Goss ] 💖 Love Them All .. I bought the Fusion set and then went back and forth over the Lotus set - but as you said, Sonia is intentional and the Lotus set as you described is not redundant - not the same brushes in different colored handles. Sonia’s blog provides great info on each brush, but your videos go way further - description and exquisite demonstrations of how to use them and just how versatile the brushes are. I really love Sonia's fan brushes for contour & highlight. Only used mine with powders. I love purple & really want this set. My office/makeup room is purple & they will look so pretty. Starting to use more cream & liquids now so this set would be incredible.

My alarm is set! I hate brush sets but hers! I have most of her brushes and I am always impressed. I use some more than others but never disappointed. I have used some of the fluffy eye brushes enough, I have slightly broken the very tips of some of the hairs and they poke my eyes slightly. I love them so much I will replace them. A rare quality in this area of excess consumption and the obsession with the new new in the beauty space. A good tool is of the utmost importance in my opinion, the result might not reflect the price tag and high expectations but the experience certainly does! And when these brushes are also a work of art as well, this adds to the experience and the overall joy and excitement.

@@gianninal5455 Reach out to Beautylish customer service and ask if you're able to pre-order. They have a contact section at the bottom of the website. I heard it's based on how much you spend at Beautylish but I'm not sure. It never hurts to ask at least.
Thank you for the tip!! I called and was able to pre-order as well! I was stressed about getting this set as I've seen many people saying this set has finally broken them down and they are ordering it as their first Sonia G brushes. They are already hard to get as before without the limited edition status and how gaga people went for the fusion set. Which is stunning and I was able to get but I could tell the site was barely holding together and I was lucky I didn't get kicked off and miss out. And there weren't as many people new to her line buying at that time. I had an alarm set and everything. Now I can cancel the alarm and breath easy. I normally don't care that much about buying into the "sold out" pretend hype where they restock within a few days. Super suspicious. When her stuff sells out, it is REALLY sold out and often takes months to come back, if at all. I have most of her brushes but not all because they are never in stock.

I love the Lotus Base! Real techniques has a brush that's similar, the contour fan, i love it so much for base products. I definitely want a Sonia g fan foundation brush it makes a full face of creams so easy. The other brushes are super nice i can use must of them for creams and liquids. Sonia is truly that answer to all our brush needs lol.
Im watching this a year later but i was looking for a foundation brush i have one flat finishing powder brush from Sonia G and it is amazing. I went to look at the new travel set but i spent too much so i ended up buying the face brush alone from the lotus set i guess now she is selling them all separately and in so excited to receive it. i also really need a foundation brush that works and is quality 😊

Ahhhhhh Alicia you're the best!!! You're so lucky to receive them in PR!!! I haven't even started watching the video yet but I'm commenting. I was able to pre-order. I don't have any of these brushes as I don't have the face pro set . Your application of using the foundation brush hanged my mind about it ( wasn't feeling it at first). I am going to return my jumbo concealer from the fusion set and get the soft concealer. I want to grab the classic face (missed out the last time) and the the jumbo base in the future.

Does anyone know if Sonia G is cruelty free?
This issue remains unclear, as these are made with animal hair. Even if the means through which the hairs are acquired (without cruelty, or from means that were cruel like left overs from the fashion industry) it’s up to you to make that decision. It’s still in the air, as I’m not entirely sure myself.
