However I noticed that not only did Atlanta also have a really bad summer league team but all the players that they have signed to the rookie contracts and second-year players that would actually make the team all sat out this game. That means the players that they did use none of them will be playing on that team. Which means that Bronny and your team Los Angeles played a bunch of fourth rate guys who will not be playing in the NBA or the g League this year.

    The reason the Lakers have no open roster spots is because of two catastrophic front office mistakes: giving Reddish a player option and not giving Bronny a two-way contract. Of the sixteen 2024 second rounders who have signed so far, five have signed two-way contracts including three drafted before Bronny. He should be on a two-way and Reddish should be out of the league and the Lakers should have two open roster spots as a result.

    I hope that some team picks up Tommy Kuhse.Oh and grats to Bronny. He's finally stacked up enough combined summer league stats to equal one of Kennecht 4's games. Clearly worth getting more attention than Dalton. Meanwhile Scottie Pippen JR is tearing it up in summer league. If only we had that guy on our squad.....oh wait, we did. We let him go to clear a roster spot for......Bronny.... Thinking back to Reddick's press conference with the comments about developing talent organically. Honestly the Lakers are on point with their talent development. But in the worst way. Instead of developing young players and making the team a destination for veterans who want to play with our developed talent, we are the farm team for the rest of the league. We developed Julius Randle, Alex Caruso, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Jordan Clarkson. All for teams (minus Clarkson) who are going to have a better season next year than the Lakers. How much longer before Austin Reaves is tearing it up for some other team advancing hire in the playoffs than the Lakers?

    Bronny like his dad early in their career weren't great shooters. People get amnesia 😂 Bron over the years became a good shooter, still not great because he's super athletic. Judging a dude over 3-4 meaningless games when he could have died is sick.

  • @Zubcut80
    @Zubcut80 Před měsícem +2

    Sean you are WRONG about Bronny’s contract. You say Bronny’s contract is the same as all late second rounders. That is patently false. Of the players drafted 53-58, all signed two-ways EXCEPT for Bronny’s GUARANTEED 4-year contract. Five second rounders have already signed two-ways including the 38th, 42nd and 53rd picks . All picked BEFORE Bronny. They aren’t taking up roster spots on their teams like Bronny is. Bronny is a great kid but he’s two years away from being two years away.

    • @whodaboss99
      @whodaboss99 Před měsícem

      The 58th pick in last year's draft got a similar contact. Yes. The last pick in the draft. Does it happen "all" the time. No. But it happens enough, to certain players whose teams want to hold on to a certain player.

    • @Zubcut80
      @Zubcut80 Před měsícem

      @@whodaboss99 I fully understand that. Last year's draft was also MUCH better than this one. After watching Bronny play, do you honestly think any other team is that desperate to get him. In the Lakers' situation it was completely unnecessary. They desperately need that roster spot considering their mismanagement of the player options they gave out like candy. Sometimes you have to look out for the best interests of your team. This kind of stuff is why the Lakers are in the position they are in right now. Everybody is frustrated that the Lakers aren't doing anything to improve their roster. Hamstringing your ability to do anything by giving an unnecessary roster spot and a 4 YEAR CONTRACT!!!! to a player who obviously has very little future in the NBA is ludicrous. 6-foot shooting guards who can't shoot should not be on guaranteed contracts in win now seasons. That's what two-way contracts are for. The Lakers need to upgrade this roster, and now to free up a roster spot they're probably going to have to attach draft picks to convince teams with cap space to take on Reddish's contract just so they can waive him the next day. That's irresponsible roster management. Klutch has too much control of this franchise.
      I actually really feel sorry for Bronny. It reminds me of when the HS team manager gets to play the last 2 minutes of the last game of the season and the crowd goes crazy every time he touches the ball only to see him brick a three pointer to a chorus of groans. It must be so embarrassing . He seems like such a great kid. I'm glad he played better the last game, but he is struggling so much against players who aren't even NBA caliber. He really needed at least another year in college. There is going to be such a spotlight on him that I''m afraid it's going to get very, very painful.

    • @whodaboss99
      @whodaboss99 Před měsícem

      @@Zubcut80 I'm not going to disagree or discount with your stance. You describe what many, who have the same feelings. I'll just share a few of my thoughts. The Lakers will not get any trades with any team without giving up the farm. As you could clearly have seen, there were players set their sights on and those teams were asking for every first round pick the Lakers could possibly trade. Only to trade the player or players the Lakers were interested in for basically peanuts to another team. I say this to say the Lakers should not over pay.
      My next point. Bronny may turn out to be average or even below average. He may turn out to be a solid role player. We don't know yet. How many top 15 draft picks turned out to be horrible? Many. No one is screaming at those teams? Heck Bronny might end up having a longer and better career than Lonzo. No one knows at this point.
      Are the Lakers handcuffed at this point due to no available roster spots? Yes. The Lakers tried to sign free agents this summer and those players said hell no! Those players even took less money to go elsewhere. I believe some of those didn't want to play for a rookie head coach who has never coached before. Though many Laker fans are giddy about this hire there is a consequence in my opinion.
      Unlike many, at this point I'm not sweating it. I personally didn't want the Lakers to pick up any middling players. I say wait and see what unfolds.

    Sean, PLEASE!!! If a player’s BEST trait is a quick second jump he is not a great defender. Other attributes are MUCH more important. How about defensive IQ, ability to switch, rim protection, good strong hands, length, quickness, rebounding ability, not getting blown by, communication, anticipation, tenacity, endurance, knowing opponents tendencies, being in the right place at the right time, ability to close out to shooters. A quick second jump is obviously good to have and AD's is very impressive, but if it is your BEST trait, you are in deep trouble as a defender.
