      I like how they made it their own. I didn't even notice the que's eric was giving the band lol. I was like "he really getting into it!". Jazmine stay runnin' and riffin' her heart out. This was definitely one of my favorite superbowl anthem performances. about that ending, the last note sounded really strange once the camera pans up, are there instruments hitting the note(or affecting it) to make it sound that way?

    • @thetrib1
      @thetrib1 Před 3 lety +5

      also... I don't know how cool you are with profanity but Jazmine Sullivan has a video called pick up your feelings and it's acoustic! I think you'll like it. many riff's, many different voice inflections

    • @VoxTapeStudios
      @VoxTapeStudios  Před 3 lety +2

      Glad you enjoyed their performance! I believe that Eric went a little bit sharp on the note and Jazmine too at first and that's what made the note sound a little bit strange. I don't think it has anything to do with the instruments or the camera panning... Other than that last note, both Eric's and Jazmine's pitch was great!

    You guys need to get a few things straight. Firstly, pitch has nothing to do with genre or style. It is a fundamental principle of music that applies to any style and genre. Secondly, not everybody's ear is tuned or trained to hear these things. The average person may not notice these things but a vocal coach, who I'm sure has studied and been trained in the area of music, would be more adept at identifying key, pitch, etc. Thirdly, no singer, no matter how great they are, is perfect all the time. I'm pretty sure every singer has had moments when they were off. You guys need to be objective when listening to singers, no matter how much you adore them, and not be afraid to admit when they have bad moments or flaws. Fourthly, critiquing a singer and pointing out one bad moment, is not saying that they are a bad singer or can't sing. She clearly mentioned several times that Jazmin is a great singer. Fifth, it's OK not to agree with her opinion but there is no need to leave mean comments and attack her personally. You came here because you wanted to hear her feedback and opinion on the performance and that's what she gave us. If you don't want to hear a critique of a singer then go watch the original video and don't watch a vocal coach reaction video.

    I appreciate your vocal training and coaching skills. I do not believe Jazmine was "flat" on the note "through". If you notice when she begins the same note connotation is used when she sings "whose bright stars"...the same as "through the perilous fight". So, the note was not flat, it was intentional. Jazmine Sullivan's performance was stellar. This is what singer's do - bring out the emotion and make you feel. And, she certainly did that. Her voice was powerful, sultry, controlled, and her tone is glorious. I believe her breathing was perfect and where she took the breath - where you stated you would not have taken a breath there - gave her the power from her head tone to carry the note. It was a monumental performance and I can't stop watching it. Everything this world is going through I think it resonated with many on so many levels.

    I read the comments first, and the comments made it seem like she was debasing Sullivan. Sullivan is an amazing singer, yet she can be flat, like all great singers (Carey, Houston, Dion, Franklin, Twain). Just like the vocal coach, is a great coach, yet she was flat on "Glare," it's normal.
    And no one chooses to be flat on purpose - that's crazy.

    yall. in singing, from a singer myself, sometimes you can’t be pitch perfect on every note, unless u focus on that and ONLY that. sometimes we wager pitch a little bit on small notes, so that we can focusing on executing a run, holding a big belt, having soul etc. THIS DOESNT MEAN JAZMINE IS A BAD SINGER NOR DOES IT MEAN THAT THE VOCAL REACTOR IS TAKING AWAY FROM THE PERFORMANCE. relax. we are sooo defensive of jazmine bc shes amazing which i get especially bc black talent is so under appreciated, but this lady is just doing her job. yall heard the word flat and went crazy. EVERYONE goes flat sometimes it’s okay. that being said, if you know jazmine’s vocal sound/trademark you would know that the “through” and the flatness, although it was imperfect, was intentional. but ion think this lady meant any harm

    Guys. Lets appreciate the fact of her review. The fact that more people get to hear Jazmine that follow this vocal coach. I also did not agree that her note for "through" was flat. The vocal coach also sort of corrected herself in the end because neither hit "brave" with a flat note. Nothing to do with race, let's not be sensitive, it's just a review from her perspective. We dont have to agree and based on her replies to the comments, she appreciates the feedback, and I dont think she gave Jazmine a hard time. Not singing soul has nothing to do with it. If you have an ear for music, you can understand any genre. As we know JoJo, Kelly Clarkson, and others are examples of singers who have the ear for soul. Nothing to do with race. In fact we all came to listen to her perspective on Jazmines vocals because we all know Jazmine can blow.

    I don’t understand why you all are debating with this woman about whether she was flat or not when she indeed was. Half of you seem like stans and not educated people. Closed vowels such as the “ooo” part of “through” tend to be a bit pitchy due to it being difficult to find the proper placement and resist the urge to flip into head voice. The urge to flip alone can warrant a flat note. It was one simple slip up. Definitely not as big as you all are making it.
    Also noticing that most of you are making a big deal out of it because she’s white lmao. I don’t think that should be the reason you all try to educate her on gospel technique which most of you don’t seem to know. Just because she’s white doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how we sing.

      Uuu vowels are incredibly hard to belt because the voice wants to flip up into head voice, you‘re completely right :)

    • @LiTim17
      @LiTim17 Před 3 lety +1

      @@VoxTapeStudios I understand, you can definitely tell the difference in comfortability on that vowel. Singing it in chest brings a tense feeling with it especially in the throat but even extends to the jaw. You can sing that same vowel in head voice and barely feel it at all. I have to assure students that it’s okay to flip when they’re first starting out. Just have to learn how to manage it. Jazmine did a great job at managing the air pressure so she didn’t flip up. It was just slightly under pitch, no biggie.
