All Night // The Magnus Archives Animatic

- I had so many thoughts while making this animatic (especially since I have been doing almost nothing else for the past month) that I forgot all of them now that it is finished.
In my opinion this song fit so many aspects of season 4 and 5 that I actually pushed through illustrating all of it (which - fun fact - took about double the amount of sketches compared to my other animatics).
Also, the fact that some of the frames genuinely turned out the way I imagined them in my head as well as seeing my artstyle grow in comparison to my older animatics, just fills me with so much joy.
I do not own the Song. It's called "All Night" by Fox Stevenson and it has engraved itself in my auditory-cortex forever (/pos).
The characters are inspired by the Podcast "The Magnus Archives'' by Rusty Quill and I will continue to believe their lives are not the tragedy I just spent hours upon hours drawing.

The Magnus Archives animatic? In 2023? I had to check it TWICE you know, because I just couldn't believe the fact that there would be an animatic of such a quality I had not watched before! You are my favourite human being now, you know it, right?

2:56 Okay so this is actually so crazy because of how it lines up with the original (abandoned) ending of the show which is Jon, after killing Elias and taking his place, essentially Knowing what his dead friends would say to him now if they could and being berated by what’s basically their ghosts as he sits ruler over a ruined world

As a massive fan of both the Magnus Archives and this song, I sincerely cannot thank you enough. From the moment of "the devil's at the front door" I just KNEW this was gonna be a good one. Probably my new favourite MAG animatic.
Basira's gun? Jon's eyes? The literal Watcher's Crown when he opens the door?? Sublime
This whole animation is fantastic but one thing I really loved is how you had Daisy being the only one to actually look at Jon with almost like pity and understanding in the shot where the girls were clustered together in the archives and Jon was alone. Aside from the finale, their friendship was the highlight of season 4 for me honestly. Also the degree that all of their eyes glowed to show how far gone they were - Melanie and Basira having only a dot, daisy her iris, and Jon the entire eye - was a great use of color. So much detail is crammed into every panel this feels like a real labor of love.

I love that green is the only colour against all the greys and the way the eye is portrayed as that kinda inky goop (for lack of a better term) coming out of Jon 🤌✨
