Streaming services are destroying shows with their 8 episode format and cancelling everything that isnt a immediat success
they know stuff reaches its peak at season 2 so they are cancelling everything at that point, they've been doing that for a couple of years now
The only thing I know that deserved its season 1 cancelation was the acolyte.

While shows going too long is a problem, shows lasting very shortly is also a problem.
Back in the days, cartoons could have 65 episodes right at the start, all of them planned, and the show managed to be decent with very few bad episodes, the problem is going beyond the 65 episodes.
The only excuse for 8 episodes and a very fast paced story I can think of is, that creative team feared they will get “Inside Job” treatment (“Inside Job” got canceled midway through it’s story if not only in it’s beginning)
Not anymore.
The show is renewed for 4 seasons.
Viv said there was supposed to be 16 episodes but A24 was the one that gave 8.

In my opinion, he should’ve stayed a dragon!! That would’ve GREATLY contrasted with Charlie because Charlie is the princess of Hell but looks and acts more human/angelic than Adam, who is arrogant and sinful like a “typical” demon. If they *wanted* to give him a guitar, give him a guitar! Or better yet, make Adam play the guitar but have him use his wing and their “fingers” like strings on a guitar.
I really wish they would’ve kept his OG design imo.

if the citizens of hell are any indication of how that will go, Lucifer will be the only one who looks on her positively with the rest not respecting her or think she's unbearable. the only one i can see treating her even remotely decent would be Bee, the Queen of Gluttony. EDIT: which i'll add who is treated rather similarly by her peers, save for maybe the Queen of Sloth, whom we have yet to meet.
I think it’s a nightmare for artists to be controlled by networks and studios for a certain way that they want things rather than follow through with their own ideas because it’s basically being in submission for the big money bucks and sometimes not even the studios know what they’re doing There’s no easy way about it

the pacing sounds better in this version.
This is like looking into an alternate universe. I still like the main show, but the stories and pacing in these original concepts would have been really good. The Husk carnival idea reminds me a bit of Loo Loo Land too.

I've watched a video similar to this. It's about the Leak Version of Hazbin Hotel being different from the one we got now. The Leaked Version is pretty cool and interesting, but I also love how the show is now and it's pretty cool too. I just wish that Mimzy had more screentime in Season 1 and how she was portrayed just like in the Leak Version.

I find it funny how when shows like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Amphibia, The Owl House, and even recent shows like The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur were coming out, people didn’t care about the “filler” episodes and wanted those shows to solely focus on the story. And now with Hazbin Hotel, people want the opposite of that.
Even Helluva Boss has more of a story arc with Blitz and Stolas’ relationship, but people tend to not like the “filler” episodes.
@@reneeangely8446 it even more ironic when People say they're tired of Stolas and Blidz plot episodes (or character drama) but every time they go back to the "get hired to go to earth to kill someone, where they're just funny demons haha" plot, people hate them and almost every episode that revolves around this alone is somes of the least favorites episodes of the fans, to me this feels like the fans and critics themselves are disconnected from the real show.
@@gundradestroyer4480 tbf the stolitz drama is tiring to see consecutively; seeing stolas pull his bullshit and not get called out alongside blitz being toxic gets really annoying really quick. but the filler episodes we've gotten so far have either been too early on to involve plot, or were just executed HORRIBLY. murder family was the first ep, of course it won't have much plot going on, leading to people just ignoring it. unhappy campers had a horrible A plot, and completely f*cked moxxie's character, which created (ngl kinda reasonable) hate. i could keep going on. just hoping we get to see something better with the upcoming eps like ghostfuckers.

1. Pacing. In Hazbin it's obvious that it all goes by waaay too quickly since it was released in a bunch, it's supposed to be binged basically while Helluva is supposed to be a show you watch an episode of once every few months. In a show meant to be binged some filler is ESSENTIAL to take a breather and relax for a moment while in 1 episode for a few months format fillers are just insulting because you wait for so long to see anything interesting develop
2. Helluva's assassin missions are honestly much worse than the first ones in season 1. It seems like they can't focus on a mission at all and they are more of a cop out (with the Millie/Moxie episode the mission is solved in like 5 seconds..) than actual meaningful story ideas. People who want missions don't want them just because
3. People are also tired of Stolitz because the plotholes get more and more obvious. It's easy to write season 1, which was good, when you have mostly blank slates but season 2 needs some consistency and consequences from the previous which the writers of Helluva just can't process
Seeing this kinda makes me angry at people that keep saying "vivzie is terrible at writing". I dont know about everyone else, but her projects where she was the only one truly writing (zoophobia) wasn't badly written or badly paced and neither seems to be this bible. Meanwhile when there's co-writers (Rogers with Helluwa, in which i see a lot more of his episodes and jokes instead of viv's) or when they reduce her intended episodes, the writing slips.
I don't think she's the whole problem, but circumstances also are. Putting aside the fact that we dont have full scripts for this old pitch, its pretty obvious that the pacing was better (with characters getting more space to be introduced like mimzi or even anything between husk and angel).
You can’t have good pacing with 8 episodes a season and them all being normal length, people lose their minds over not knowing the characters but there is literally no time to get to know them. Filler, the things people loathe so much in cartoons, is how we know characters. Cutting it out guts our ability to know characters.
I have problems with how she writes her gay ships. They come across as yaoi-esque.
@@HebiHouse the fact it gives you that impression...it feels like that's a you problem mostly? The max I can give you is the drama behind Stoliz, which isn't a perfect ship at all, but for different reasons (not because there's se*ual tension in there). Other than that she writes them fine, I think. I'm not sure how you weren't expecting lust to be in there in some specific ships (like fizz is dating the prince of lust to make an example and ironically they're the most wholesome and less toxic ship in helluwa).
Husk and Angel it's not yet sure what their relationship is, the second one is flirtatious because of his mask, Husk isn't flirty at all. Vox and Val are strange, on and off couple that is mostly about doing it and not about love and feelings (at least for now and for what we know of em).
I am very much missing the Yaoi feeling in most of them tbch (and I've seen it online alright, which btw? Not even all of that is bad and badly written...even if it goes too much into abuse sometimes but I digress)

That and Viviz also made Fizz too much of a fem boy in that beginning of that one episode where he had a shirt hanging off his shoulder and sitting on his knees, spayed like an anime girl.
It could be just me, or it could be her bias.
You need to remember Vivzie has been online for about a decade. Zoophobia was an interesting concept but the reason it was abandoned was becuase the writing was bad. Helluva had the same issues with massive retcons in The circus which Vivzie has already confessed towards doing. (Stolas was written as a villain but has been altered, hense the retcon in S2 ep1) And the writing continues to decline the more she treats critisism as negative messages online.
So really, the reason why people arent fans of Vivzie is becuase her older, less loyal fanbase have seen her writing hasnt improved in a seriously long time. Vivzie has spent the past ten years writing ideas into stories she cant finish, which ends up with the story overall dying. Shes become a case study of what to avoid when writing stories and developing conceptual ideas. Aside from her writing skils, her Artistic creativity is amazing.

I know this is common for cartoons today but season 1 should have had more episodes. Look at all the interesting stories and character dynamics in the show bible. I miss this in S1. But god, am I happy that they mad Lucifer how we know him and just didn't let im appear in the season finale. And Sir Pentious becoming a main character is like the best thing that happend and we don't have to wait to long for Baxter ❤
Nah it just should’ve had a longer time run since all Amazon shows (as far as I’m aware) have 8 episodes of an average of 40 minute long episodes, and before you say something about animation, shows like Vox Machina, and Invincible, and my dumbass just realized The Legend of Vox Machina has 12 episodes but 20 minutes…… well let’s say Hazbin Season 3 has 8 episodes, but more runtime and let’s say double so it’s 40 minutes, that’s at least double the episodes of S1 in runtime, and I’m pretty sure if they had more run time, General audiences could get closer to these twinky goofy characters, and make those who hate the designs love the character and not mind the design!!! one out of the many 50/50 valid and non valid criticism/drama solved out of the over billions of drama surrounding this show!!! Yay!!!
Or you know more episodes idea is starting to grow on me, but since it’s a controversial show, it’ll be risky on one point since haters or people who just simply heard one side of the story will see this and think, “what about other more memorable shows like The Boys and Invincible having less episodes while a more critically bad show gets more???”
And sure I see some of the criticism on the show to be valid but for a show that sprouted as a indie show to a full on wide nation show!?! That’s pretty insane so I honestly just forget the drama and just see the show as, “if you have an idea that you believe won’t succeed? Put faith and see where it takes you” because a show that started from nothing to full on streaming platform is fucking insane and normally I just give the critical points a pass and just look up to the fact that this show may be bad or mid, but it should be recognized for pulling an extremely crazy and insane Feat
@@marcosrangel2988 Most of them like The Boys, Invincible, and Fallout are based on pre-existing medias. So they already knew there are a lot of story to cover, hence to 50-hour long episodes. They probably felt that HH didn't need that length.

The original episode one WAS the pilot. That is how shows used to work. That is how internet based shows STILL work (think tadc).

The pilot is just that: a pilot. Like helluva boss pilot was a real pilot: stuff changed.
The HH pilot can give us a lot of information, but until it's confirled in the show, it's not canon. Like Lucifer's appearance along side Carmilla in the pilot which doesn't make sense in the show.

Well, now that she partially resolved the problem with Lute we can already see her changing hairstyle as a symbolism to be reborn as something new( she was really happy when Adam got stabbed)
I've also seen people talk about how the song out for love with vaggie in carmilla doesn't make a whole lot of sense, carmilla says vaggie wanted revenge but in the show she doesn't seem to want that at all and just wants to help charlie, so perhaps in one if these earlier drafts we would've seen vaggie being more vengeful against heaven and angels
It’s crazy, to me, in this leaked version, the 9th episode saying that Lucifer was different than Charlie expected sounds like how the 5th episode showed that one interaction between little Charlie and Lucifer and Lilith taking her away with his face dropping. That moment makes me think that Lilith mostly tried to keep her and Lucifer apart and that’s why they don’t have a relationship and don’t know how to react to each other. This leak certainly helps enforce that particular theory.

As much as I like Amazon's Hazbin, this version appears to be 100x better, more for fans, more for plot. Sad that money thing make our show this way, cut and well... Castrated?

In all fairness, Adam's entire ego is centered around the fact that he was the first human, so having him appear as something other than human would be a little weird even if it is a kickass design. If he does end up being written back into the story as a sinner down the line I'd love to see some of those dragon/beast-like features come back, like in that one fan-made music video that is constantly being recommended to me even though I've already seen it many times. Please move on CZcams algorithm, the world is leaving you behind!
I think if A24 and Amazon Prime let Vizie have 12-15 or even 20 episodes, I can see the first episode being a remake of the pilot since that’s common with a lot of shows.
In the picture that featured both Luficer and Charlie together with the members of the Seven Deadly Sins, can the one on the left be considered as the prototype of Satan? Sure, he does not have four eyes yet but the body is really similar to how Beelzebub described already in a sense.

I mean I'm not sure why Vivzie wanted Hazbin to not stay indie. Helluva Boss works perfectly on its own. It stands on its own feet without any big company supporting it. So why not do the same with Hazbin ?
And if they did that, they could have had the story they wanted, with as many episodes as they wanted, with no restrictions from any higher-ups on the way they want to tell their story.
This would have been better than the rushed season 1 they gave us, so I really don't understand why they didn't do that.
At the time. she didn't realize how big her scale would become, but helluva boss ultimately caught up / surpassed what hazbin hotel offered. In the end, hazbin hotel may have a faster production because the quick cash flow instead of slowly building up like they had to for helluva. keep in mind helluva started much smaller and got bigger due to ongoing support too.

I think it would have been better if Amazon had left the 10 episodes so that way we could get a reintroduction to everyone and there could have been some more room to add to the story
My hope is that Amazon realizes that this show IS profitable, and that the next season will be longer and slower paced.
I wanna play Devils Advocate for Amazon giving Invincible longer episodes/more content than Hazbin Hotel. The entire Invincible comic is already out and is popular so they knew what they were getting themselves into. But with Hazbin Hotel, nobody knew what the story would be or anything, I mean looking at how different this pitch bible is from the main story it's clear Viv was still working on it early on. So it's understandable why Hazbin Hotel got less episodes, Amazon was taking a chance on it.
It would definitely have been better. Not all of them were necessary episodes (like the one with Katie and Tom), but it would have been way better paced and with much improved characterization of the characters.
The "fight Heaven" storyline should have DEFINITELY been a season 2 thing, making it the last 3 episodes of an already short season was a mistake from the writers' part, and it's not Amazon's fault (it was inevitable to have a season 2, considering its and Helluva Boss' popularity, and Vivzie and her crew couldn't have known it).
I miss Katie and Tom’s original voices.

A lot of people who are conplaining about the pacing being too fast and episodes being too short seem to forget this wasn't Viv's or her team's choice, but rather the restrictions put upon them by the modern streaming companies.
They could have changed the story to postpone the fight with Heaven to season 2.
See if the author cannot work with what she is given its her problem.

I think they had that "evil friends that embraced evil sides of each other" vibe. Being horrible people in general and best friends at the same time.
Hm, I see, interesting, very interesting, I do admit that i really wish at least some aspects of this could’ve remained for the Official Version and now i really hope that we could still get some of these Plots in the Future Seasons, regardless i just hope that they make each Episode count moving forward.
Honestly, most People tend to give Filler-like Episodes a lot of flack, but this just goes to show just how important they can be, especially for a Cartoon.

I've BEEN saying this, viv had said when hazbin was picked up she wished she could've kept it. I thought we all knew that's why the series felt rushed at some parts, BECAUSE IT WAS! of course for only 8 episodes its gonna feel rushed when there's so much info. Honestly I really wished we had these episodes with the ones we did get just happening later on except the planned episode 9 as I don’t think the Sins would care about the exterminations but it would definitely be good for season 2 as the Sins would definitely care that Charlie and Lucifer sort of declared War on Heaven and got the first man killed
The idea that we could’ve had Baxter and Mimzy two original members of the main cast actually be added to the main cast makes me so sad (though I wish they had also planned for Crymini to join the main cast as well)

The thing that irks me the most is how at the beginning they portrayed the Fallen (Lucifer) as a manipulative and scheming entity just in the pilot alone!
But then just shows up when Charlie wanted to go to heaven and essentially condemn them for their rules that came after millennia’s of human atrocities is when he just shows up and acts like he’s a misunderstood loving father when he was never really there for Charlie even after Lilith just vanished
Really Charlie is practically bringing the end days by her blatant disregard for even attempting to understand why things were the way they are, which makes the Fallen’s appearance even more suspicious and malicious!
The biggest problem with Adam and Lilith is that they were created pure, and automatically they portray Adam as a dominating character with Lilith being portrayed as a “sympathetic” character that the Fallen (Lucifer) worked with to tempt Eve.
All the while clearly showing the biased view of the Fallen that didn’t show up or contacted until when the exterminators get desperate enough to directly attack Charlie’s plan.
Charlie being a pawn in the game seems more and more likely the further the story plays out, as all things are seemingly going her way when Heavens authority weakens

The 8 episode format is so stupid. That's not a series that's a miniseries. Just go back to doing 20 episode seasons *including "filler" episodes already.

It’s possible a few of the cut episodes could be retooled into one of the other seasons. The Tom and Katie one could be a season 2 episode. And u wouldn’t be surprised if they used the Mimzy episode to flush out some sinners that may show up at the hotel for similar reasons that end up causing chaos for the main cast. And lastly, I don’t think we’ll see the other sins unless she can work out I deal to use them since if memory serves, they are locked into Helluva Boss.
Sounds like Baxter stuff is coming in season 2. There are comics that could give more detailed. Like the comic we see angle try to do a deal for Valentino but if falls through. As he works the street he meets Vaggie and Charlie who gives him money and offer him free board at the hotel if he tries redemption. Another comic called Bad Liars Val waits for Vox at his home as Vox works to arrive home after the extermination. The pimp moth lord comic shows us Valentino and he shots a tv he is watching when he finds out Angle lives at Charle's hotel.
The 8 episode series is ok, but it definitely could've used a few more episodes to flesh out the cast, their dynamics, and allow more time for their redemption.

I'm not sure why people think that Alastor being ace means he couldn't have dated Mimzy. Asexual =/= Aromantic.
Because Vivziepop describes his Asexuality in relation to his ability to connect romantically with women. 'Romantic' labels are only used if it diverges from sexual labels. Like an Ace for instance doesn't go around saying 'I'm ace' without mentioning they are aromantic because we are still a contextual language.
Some aroace people just call themselves ace. Me being one of them.
That's what I'm saying, most aro-ace people just say ace, if you only say Ace it implies both sexual and romantic, whereas we only tend to use romantic labels when its different from sexuality.

They said there would be a lot more songs and more backstories in season 2. The only way I can imagine them fitting all that into 8 episodes is if they are secretly planning on making the episodes much longer.
You never know. Hazbin became insanely popular even before Amazon aired it so they might have a fifth season with more of these filler stories or just throw these filler episodes in with the next 3 seasons that have already been greenlit
I literally love these episode concepts so much more than the actual show. I think if the concepts were tweaked a little (Ex. The whole 7 deadly sin thing, or Sir Pentious x Rosie, I think the characters in the pictures had on there pilot outfits?), it would had just been like a million times better. I hate what Prime Video did to this show.

I’m glad some of the concepts did get used for Season One, so hopefully we get more of them for Season Two. Even though I love Hazbin Hotel as it is now, I do get the pacing issues. I wish Niffty and Mimzy had more screen time. But I may be in the minority of the pacing not bothering me that much. I was just happy we got the show at all!
People really need to accept the 8 episode, 20-23 minute seasons we're getting. It was probably part of the contract Viv signed and she took it, especially since A24/Prime were one of the few that were willing to pick up the series and it's getting 4 seasons. The fans can't have it all
I can‘t say that I prefer the original concept. While I also see the problem with the rushed pacing due to the 8-ep-limitation, one thing I like is the ongoing plot sans sidesteps, which is rather unusual for cartoon shows. I am a bit weary of the overused secondary filler plotlines that remind me more of fanfiction.
Extracting the filler stuff into side shows or comics would be a good idea, though.
i dont know if it's just me but i read 7:21 as "Pentious is worried he will never be able to impress his longtime hellish crush" (as Cherri being the crush) and that Rosie, Charlie, Mimzy and Nifty are trying to help him, but i guess the sketches might seem it is Rosie BUT as well Pentious practising his talks on her? i dont know, obviously it doesnt matters and all, just a my point of view momnet i guess
Mimzy got done so dirty. I really wish we could've seen her as part of the main cast instead of a one-note, throwaway character who didn't really contribute anything of note in her debut (other than interrupting 'Hell's Greatest Dad,' something that, unfortunately, left a bad taste in many fans' mouths and made her character unreasonably over-hated). Then she just disappears from the show, possibly never to return. I just wish we couldn't gotten more of her; she's got a refreshingly unique design among the rest of the cast, and the fact that she shares a history with Alastor makes her and her backstory instantly intriguing.
I'm honestly not surprised, this is why I hope independent series stay independent.
You can really see how some of the elements in the final show that didn't make sense, were set up in the pitch bible. It's that writer mistake of forgetting the reader didn't read your 200+ page worldbuilding google doc, and not explaining properly how the world or characters work.
I honestly think it would be cool if there were shorts for HH on Prime or Vizie’s channel like for Helluva Boss, the filler episodes of course.
It would be so rad if Viv released some "lost episodes" to show whats going on between episodes
it makes sense to me the season started out as it did, we've waited so long for this show, i think most people shuold've just been ready to move on from the pilot. it also looks like alot of things are being moved to season 2, which is fine, and hopefully amazon understands what they have now, and the seasons will be extended and better

Another example of Primes’ unfairness with episodic structuring is “Vox Machina”. That show gets 12 episodes a season but not this one.
It would be intresting to have mini episodes of hazbin hotel the same way helluva boss has the "helluva shorts". And what would those be called? Hazbin shorts?
Viv should’ve handed over helluva to Amazon and just focused on making hazbin herself
8:54 I think actually that the whole heaven arc would be in season 2, letting season 1 to be only about hell, the hotel and building theses characters and their dynamics with each other. That way season 2 could be more focused on heaven, Charlie finding out about its corruption and the extermination. I think that was the original idea, but since Viv didn’t know if she was going to get a season 2, she decided to boil down these 2 arcs into 1 season which is what caused the rushed nature of the show.
I will forever be mad that there was an entire episode dedicated to an ad that we never got to see and had no impact whatsoever
