I think this is the new style of magic for the internet age. In history magicians would just perform magic leaving audiences baffled, but today with everyone having the internet at your fingertips to find out how a trick is done this style of magic is so much more impressive because even if people know how it is done it is done so clean that you still can't recognize the moves so you just enjoy the show in the end.
This is one of those tricks that, even knowing mostly how it's done, is stil amazing to watch when done as well as this.
Thats exactly why Penn and Teller loved him, cause it is so well executed that even knowing the trick....you can say who cares how its done....I'm just going to be amazed at how he does it
its more than a simple joy to watch your performance!
its just mind boggling!
I feel privileged stumbling across this performance. Your energy, enthusiasm and empowerment is so great it almost seems fake because it's so rare to find people like you. You've gave me inspiration that i hope to pass on. This is one of those performances that you don't easily forget and don't want to forget.
in rhetoric school in a 100 years you will hear the names Churchill, Cicero and Ryan Hayashi.
Can't help but smile every time I watch this act of yours. Thank you, Ryan Hayashi.
i was there it was nice to see you Btw you are so good at the card pick up ;)
I truly love how much happy he is when he is with Penn and Teller, it really shows you how much a simple act in a person's life can change everything for that person, making it follow their dreams and making them true. That happy face, ladies ans gentlemen, is the face of a dream come true
Penn and Teller were also my heros when I was a boy. I was obsessed with them, and performing magic. But nowadays I have taken my understanding and passion for the sort of logic and precision that goes into magic performance, and opening new pathways in the realm of music. It is also a dream of mine to meet them one day, and demonstrate what I have been working on, the "magic in music"..... not a "magic trick", but I think they would appreciate! You are a real inspiration as well, so great to see people pushing this fine art forward into the future. There was a period of 20 years or so, I feel, where I never saw anything new. So happy to see all the fine work people are doing on Fool Us now.
The way this guy is handling the attention he is getting right now is cool. Hope to see more of him in the future. KEEP UPLOADING THE VIDS!! Good job, hard work + passion produces such a masterpiece.
I've watched this at least 20 times, your act, and it's entertaining every, freaking, time.
Dear Ryan, i just recently stumbled over your video from Penn & Teller... maybe because in Germany it is not that famous ( What a shame) and i actual do not watch television here that much.. i am really sorry.. but.. wow.. you know i am nearly 40.. but at those few minutes.. i felt like my 7 year old son.. i had no idea how...and it felt like a dream! i showed the video to my son as well.. and he had that shining in his eyes!! maybe it really changed him a bit ;) btw.. he is 50% asian hehe.. Thank you so much for your work you put into it.. i hope i can watch a show of you.. someday for real.. :-)
his penn and teller fool us video was awesome too.. and another suggestion : please do show your son Shin Lim's two Penn and Teller performances and his AGT acts.
@ashwin thejus 'penn and teller fool us all foolers' play list too. There's so many amazing magicians. Paul Gertner, Ondrej Psenicka, Léa Kyle, Boris Wild, Jeki Yoo, Stuart McDonald, Doc Dixon, Eric Chien...
Amazing wish I could of watched this at there show
It's even cleaner than in the show. You can see there was not as much pressure on him. Fantastic.
Great performance! Love your energy and positive attitude!
I FINALLY figured out how you do it (well, part of it). Doesn't make it any less amazing. That is some incredible skill. I appreciate your talent but especially your passion for doing something you love that also (more importantly) impacts people's lives. Great job!
12 years of hard work and that's epic;
Ryan...
I always enjoy your performances brother...
always new stuff and yes,
you should have your own show...
You have the skill, you have the appearance, you have the presentation...
Well done one more time!!!
Rocco Extreme magic show , agree. He has the total package
You inspire me alot.. thank you for being the best
You are so charismatic! This is the best act I have ever seen in my life!
Fantastic routine. Great monologue. Congratulations for Fooling Penn & Teller. Hope we see you perform on TV again soon!
Geez i love this guy.Lotta Love from Germany!
You're such an inspiration! I watched you a couple of years ago, performing in the Netherlands (Uri Geller) as a kid. To see you years later, performing in Las Vegas makes me so happy!
Thank you so much for the introductory monologue - you should be so proud that you have actually emulated your heroes P&T - even more deeply I would say - I hope you get to shake that mans hand.
Also, the P&T Sleight of Hand explanation is the most wonderful pieces of magic - the only piece of magic that has made me cry just due to it's perfection is Teller's "Miser's Dream" closely followed by Teller's Shadows.
I'm now concentrating on coin magic more than I have done in the past so: 大変ありがとうございました。
You are obviously right when you say that other magicians will imitate you, and the vast majority of them will not have a tenth of your talent. But other, more talented, or maybe simply more ambitious and persevering, won't be imitating you, but will pay homage to you, by really appropriating certain parts of your work, and making them their own, like you made your own the original coin matrix moves. Now I have seen your Fool Us video so many times that I can follow you, but this must be, by a country mile, the best coin matrix I have ever witnessed. And if you understand the methods and can appreciate all the work behind such perfection, it is one of these routines where knowing the trick makes you appreciate it even more.
That's my point ! Being able to see the moves and understand what Ryan is doing (not the first time, probably not the tenth time either...) is not too hard, if you know the basic principles of a coin matrix, but I am MILES away from being able to do it half as cleanly. And even then, it would be nothing but a cheap copy. Many people who know how to paint would be able to copy a Picasso quite precisely, but that does not make them great artists... That's why I said that such a performance is here to inspire, not to be blindly followed.
I love the "and I am here to inflict psychological damage!" so much
Sir, you are amazing!!!
I have legitimately watched your routine about twenty times by now and still have no idea how you did most of this... okay, ANY OF this, and my brain is strained with the sheer audacity of it all.
Greate as always
I just love how fast and clean your moves are. Coin matrix was always one of my favourite tricks and you have to be insanly good at it if you want to perform that one live. You are the first person i ever saw where i can gladly say that it was pure perfection. It made me even forgettin how the trick work for the while because i was drawed so much into the visual power of it. Thank you so much for lettin me believe in magic again for a few minutes. :)
I know what he's doing. I see (almost) every move. But I just can't grasp how much dedication it would take to be able to pull this off so smoothly. Bravo sir.
One day i will found the place where i belongs. You made me certain of that with this act... not the one in fool us but this one. Thank you
Congrats on being on the show. Must be awesome to be on Fool Us.
Love you brother RYAN ..
You are such an inspiration.
Hey Ryan I'm a huge fan
I've been practicing the coin matrix for a few months now. With a very good understanding of how to do these moves it's still absolutely mind boggling. So impressive and with the monologue....perfect. ✊🏿
through the power of youtube I was able to rewind, slow down, crack half of my brain to get half of the tricks. And the magic behind this is: it's even more baffling and amazing when you know how it is done... its mind blowing.... that's also why I stop at half of it to a) enjoy being fooled and b) keep a sane mind.. or half of it.
really brilliant act!
Couldn't agree more. The more you know the more you can APPRECIATE their skills and hardwork 👏👏👏
Yep. Thats how great magic shows should be. Either you got amazed in the first time seeing it, or when you tried to figure the logic out of it, then you realize, they are freaking amazing. Thats a great show.
did the exact same thing ^^
When I watched his fool us performance I missed a lot of the slights that he used. Then I watched this and I now know exactly how he did this. To the extent that I caught every single slight. Regardless I still enjoyed watching for the sheer beauty and comedic value of the routine. Ryan is a born performer and has become one of my favourite magicians.
And even tho I know how the routine is performed, I could never perform it. Its one thing to know how its done, its another to actually do it.
This guy is good, no matter what you think you know try pulling that trick off flawlessly.
That is just EPIC!
Including this, I have watched three different videos of your coin matrix trick and I love it more and more each time. I do not know if there is anyone - even another asian - who can take what you've done here to a higher level. You sir, are all powerful.
yay Ryan! congrats
I love how close this view is!
I can spot some moves after seeing this 2 or 3 times, not all of them but god damn this is such a brilliant act, and to perform it this clean while monologuing....just wow
every day i aspire to inflict psychological damage
My dream is to inflict psychological damage to one hundred thousand children.
I'm laughing so hard with all the comments
Ryan Hayashi, "YOU ARE THE MAN!!"
Love the monologue!
one more time 100 % real and amazing performance my friend
he is magician by day, coach by night
I watch this routine everytime I feel like self-inflicting psychological damage.
This would be lost in comments Ryan, but the way this made me feel cannot be explained.
This just lifted up my losing motivation for magic.
Inspirational
Every epic performance and monologue needs an epic background song
the Most Epic Monologue in History of Magic.
It’s basically an advance version of cups and balls. The first time I saw this act it was impressive but this time I could totally see him loading the coins under cards and I saw the pattern in which he flips the cards. Very cleaver work.
Ryan Baby!
I think what made the Penn and Teller special a little more Dynamic was the music- you should be playing that in the background for this act at all times
Awesome monologue!
GOD LIKE
I'm Asian, how come I'm just an average Chan? It's not fair! Lol
You're not average, my brother. You just need to discover the Ryan Hayashi within.
Just needs to take it to the next level.
😂😂😂😂😂
Ryan Hayashi and Shin Lim could be the next Penn and Teller. I’m just not sure that Ryan Hayashi could talk enough for both of them.
Don't worry sub-par Asian Chan. Like the great pokemon, you will need to evolve through your intermediate forms first. You must change from a Chan to a Onii-Chan. Once you have realized your new powers, then it's onto the next form. What was once Onii-Chan, then becomes Oni-Chan! Note the spelling, it is not a typo nor a mistake! Your immense new abilities will become second nature leaving you only the next step! BECOME THE JACKIE CHAN!. Using new modern techniques, you will only evolve further and surpass your limits!
I love the figureight coin placements.
bad ass.
Next Up: AGT! Following the path Shin Lim took 😎 Best of luck Ryan!
Hey Ryan, Stoked for you Man!! It’s so awesome to have watched someone’s life change so fast like yours did after Fool Us. It’s also really cool that you got to meet your hero’s! I grew up them too and remember when they blew everyone out of the water. I remember how mad all the other magicians were when they started exposing all the tricks of the trade but I think it actually pushed everyone to create new and better illusions. They made magic popular again. You know what would be a really cool way to pay homage to Penn And Teller. Do the matrix with clear cards. Everyone knows how you’re doing the trick but it’s still entertaining because you’re so damn good at it. Actually, you could double your stage time by doing it twice. Once with the real cards and once with the clear cards. Just a thought anyway. Congratulations on your success man, you deserve it!!
The Ultimate Matrix Reloaded...clear cards and no coins! lol
King Robert His personality, although extremely over aboard, adds enough to the trick to make it entertaining. Plus people are pretty dumb when it comes to “magic”. Oooohhhh he made the coins bigger!!! Instead of watching him obviously lift them from under the mat.
King Robert and of course Asians making fun of Asians is always somehow totally acceptable but god forbid you do it.
@@monkfry really? I thought they were under the card deck. I'll have to reload it! lol But come to think of it, the tilted table top is an obvious load facilitator. (This is P&T jargon right?)
King Robert lmfao
This guy is my favorite human ever
Thank you, my friend. Ryan Hayashi
Ryan Hayashi huge fan thank you for being you
You absolute wizard
Best coin magician ever.👍
Love the act, hate the camera cuts. You can't do anything about that, though. The camera always switching needlessly to different angles makes the watcher feel like they missed something.
I am from Germany and if I am not mistaken I saw you long time ago in the talent show „Das Supertalent“ which is the Germanys version of agt. You performed some samurai stuffs.
You're the man Ryan! Making us Asians proud!
*This guy's monologue reminds me of the Old Spice commercials when Isaiah Mustafa did them. Just hilarious!*
Now i found out how you did the trick mr hayashi, ive watched it many times since the day of your act in penn and teller fool us..and it took me three years to get exactly how you do it..i wont tell anybody about the way you did it, coz im a magician too..im gonna let them solve your coin trick..that took me 3 years to understand the movements and secrets..
Haaa.. shhaaa magic🧙🏻♂️
At 7:48 was there like 2 coins stacked on each other and he just shifted one off? Just curious.
Amazing trick. I would like to see an added element in which you start and say that your using 4 King cards. And by the end of the trick they become Aces.
i bought a disappearing cigarette trick from kingmagic on taobao. the packet arrived empty. bravo! best 1.5rmb i ever spent!
Could someone put epic music and sound effects here as the original performance?
If you slow the video down to 1/4th the speed, you'll find it gets 4 times more confusing. :P
Is that the series 1800 deck? Hard to see it clearly
The one handed trick is wizardry
did Will tsai got this trick from you when he did it on BGT 2017?
or vice versa?
Will Tsai is a friend of mine. We developed our routines separately. Our routines look different, but they are both based on a classic routine called The Matrix. Technically my act is older than Will's because I created it in 2004.
Ryan's in a rare class of magician and his act needs to be viewed. Too much of this is being viewed from distant cameras? How strange for a routine that demands intimacy and closeness to be recorded from distance.
where is the original act of your fool us performance
Is your monologue on spotify? lol
Watch the shadow hands lol reminds me of peter pan cartoon ha very well done sir was he blue ???
It was slow but Great.
We need sound effect!
He'll have to improve his act if he wants to fool himself. If anyone could figure out the logistics of that act, it is Ryan Hayashi.
You refer to yourself in third person in the description
I really love your act! it could have been better with your music! like, in fool us. Great great work!
The camera angle. You can see every move.
@8:04 I don't get that he says it will travel from here to there. Meaning all 4 coins will be next to each other but he creates a big square instead lol
One coin travelled "frome here to there", the other 3 that were already there travelled from there to the other corners "creating a perfect square".
It's misdirection
@@zbazza6978z and lying lmao. Of he says I'm gonna pull a bunny out but it's a ps4 pad it's stupid lol
@@509g1 it's perfect misdirection. The spectators are expecting four coins under one card, but he makes the coins return to their starting positions. This is a surprise. Plus, he didn't say the coins would be right next to each other. He only said they would form a perfect square.
@@rayzhong8542 he did lol. But he's still good
just a question..how hard is one act like this to get it done perfectly Ryan, really years?
If you're already talented at sleight of hand you can learn the normal matrix pretty fast. If you're good at palming stuff you can do the rest aswell. But guess to do it perfectly and smooth and having your own choreography it may take a year of practice (at least if you have a normal job and cant spend 12 hours a day training this :D )
Where's the epic sound track ???
Is the table being tilted up have anything to do with anything???
Yes. 1) presentation, we can see better that way 2) he needs to drop and pick up things from behind there
its much easier now to see the cheat, the first time i watch him i was so amazed, but in this video the trick was not clean, i can where he put and take the coins
why no background music like in fool us?
Copyright issues.
that makes sense. very nice performance btw!
Astounding dexterity; brilliant and inspiring patter; charm and grace; and MAGIC!
Unfortunately the film director decides to cut at all the wrong moments between three different cameras. Gosh, isn't this director clever?? No. The only way I know how brilliant Hayashi's work is here, is because I saw the same routine on Penn & Teller Fool Us.
this guy is IRL scorpion from mortal kombat
Great job ya little wizard shame about the cameras could see you and beast too easy 1 then 3 and 3 was better well done keep up the good work Mr hyashi you'll be levatating before you know it and can't wait for that day !!!
