Seems like Silva still has a lot of his muscle memory/primal instincts since his MMA days. You could see multiple times where Anderson would bring up his front foot, as if checking a leg kick, and the part where he had Jake in an armed choke during one of the clinches as well. But man, it's always been great to see Anderson fight.

Met him last month in a hobby store LA. Such a gentleman, took time to talk , ask my name. Watching this fight, I almost think it was somebody that looked like him, but not. He certainly was holding back( not saying he threw it) just somehow very strange observing his movement compared to the untouchable spider, who was born to fight.

2:20 was a perfect example of why this was fixed. SIlva has real skill in boxing and his standup as a whole. He clearly held back on some of those shots, a good majority of them. 2:33 was the kind of hit you throw in sparring. No follow up, no sitting and planting, no real steam on it.

Absolutely. There were moments he could have unleashed on him and he didn’t even throw a punch. When he had him up against the ropes, he had a body shot, which could’ve led to an uppercut or headshot and he didn’t even take it. So ridiculous. Jake Paul is essentially paying these guys to take a fall. I don’t think it’s going to happen with Tyson though. I don’t think Tyson has it in him to do so. On top of that, all it is going to take is one bad Punch by Jake and Tyson is going to unleash the monster. The fact that they’re using 14 ounce gloves, which is in between the 12 and 16 obviously. No headgear… Mike punching the way he is in his sparring sessions…
If anything, I would think Tyson was going to teach him a lesson. It’s just hilarious that Jake will only fight other influencers or older men. He’s afraid to fight real fighters his age, because he doesn’t have the experience or the drive and determination. This is a part-time gig for him. It seems like him and Logan are just vying for their father’s attention. trying to outdo each other to make him proud. Which is probably going to get the both of them killed.

I'm always amazed by Silva's movement, and thought process while simultaneously planning his attack. He is truly one of the most tactically lethal fighters in history. He'll dodge a punch his opponent hasn't even decided to throw.

That was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve watched in a long time. Silva was smart to take the paycheck, but he just held back like crazy. And even then, Paul wasn’t able to truly beat him. Lowering the guard and striking a large straights when he shouldn’t have tells me he has a long way to go before he’s a legitimate contender. Silva could have leveled him at any moment, but Paul has deep pockets. It’s easy to take the fall when you’re not getting beat in your main sport and getting paid that much money. I will definitely say though, that Paul is one great promoter. And he most certainly will pay the fighters large sums and follow through with post fight bonuses like he says he does though.

Former wbc champion and boxing legend Ricardo mayorga went to MMA after boxing and lost 6 in a row.

The 2nd time Chris won the fight was more skills than luck.

He has clearly taken good care of his body as he's aged too. He still had great cardio and speed in this fight. Jake had to earn this win. Looked like a draw to me anyway. I had Silva winning till the last round knockdown. But Sikva was pummelling Jake before that knockdown, and looked like the fresher fighter.

Come on! It was no an embarrassment to Silva. I did not watch it live, but seems to me that he was the better boxer during most of the fight. At the final rounds his punches seem to be losing power, though, and Jake Paul prevail.

Silva was such a technical fighter so accurate and dominated the ring. He clearly was pulling punches and he’s half a century old. Cake Paul can’t call this a fight.
Eh, at this point people need to show Paul a little respect. He's putting in the work training and clearly has some natural boxing talent. Yes, he needs to start fighting actual boxers (and frankly I think he beats the uncommitted Tommy Fury), but any new professional boxing prospect will start fighting no hopers and journeyman. Are people going to say Paul's opposition has been worse than a typical pro starting out? I can't exactly say that.
Give him a little credit already. You don't have to like him, but he's doing pretty damn well for himself and looks more and more like an actual pro boxer. a good measurement of Anderson’s age is his mma fight vs Israel Adesanya. Anderson basically lost to a younger version of himself using a lot of his style against him. he was still pretty strong and fast there though, and you could tell a lot of the mental game required for boxing is still there.

That’s not how aging works. Speed goes first, stamina next, but strength is the last thing to go.
Old man strength is real and terrifying- if Silva wasn’t holding back it would’ve been over in the 3rd round easy. Even with the knockdown AS still dominated that fight.
Anderson Silva represented us 40-somethings VERY well. He stepped into the ring with a much younger guy and held his own. Respect to Jake Paul as well. He obviously put in the work to prepare for a fight against a world class fighter. I exercise and stay in shape but i am not a trainee fighter and would NOT step into the ring against either one of these guys.
