Just spotted this video, Beacon where I was born and raised. You walked right past my birth place (Bank Square, 137-135 Main Street). At about 14:27 you can see the door way marked 137-135. I was born in an apartment upstairs one flight. Had a midwife help deliver me. This would have been in 1936.

I lived not far from Newberg for many years back in the 90s and all I remember of Beacon was it was where I went to pick people up from the train station. I never saw anything there that remotely piqued my interest. And nobody ever suggested to me there was anything interesting there. But now I think I missed out on a little gem.

I really liked how you included the subway walk at the beginning. The contrast of the grimy tunnel with that incredible mosaic in the stairwell...very cool contrasts. So NY!

I was having a beautiful day in Beacon when I suddenly heard some gibberish that sounded something like "Hodee do'!" and "conebread!", and I turned around and saw several Negroes loafing on the corner, whereupon I promptly left Beacon. Will not be returning.
This walking tour of Beacon brought back so many old beautiful memories. What a big difference from back in 1965 when I fist moved there to a 1 yr., ago.

I live across the river from Beacon and go there frequently. My favorite stops are Hudson Valley Vinyl, Play, Zakka Joy and (once it’s open after moving) The Vinyl Room for a drink. The Happy Valley Arcade Bar has improved tremendously as well.

this is so odd for me to find this video this i where i grew up in the early 90s and main street was almost all boarded up and trash everywhere its really come a long way since they built the new highschool

Same crappy overpriced shops in a different town. Saratoga offers Opera, Plays, golf, amphitheater, Hot Springs, well maintained parks, 5 star hotels/dining, nightlife, local events, downtown shopping, virtually crime free, accessible by Amtrak. You'll want to resign and move there Your welcome

90s Beacon was not much happening. It started to change and improve after mid 00s say around 2004-2005.
I am always facinated with small town New York. Beacon, so far, yet so near. This is a very beautiful town I will put on my bucket list.
