Making those bad decisions on equipment also teaches you what to look for most when buying used equipment in the future. You see it with Andrew, still buying used equipment, but having many fewer issues. Sure, he's spending a lot more, but he's also learned a lot about what to look for in the future and consistently made better purchases.
That dozer reminds me of the old remote controlled cars that goes only straight in forward but in reverse turns to one side so you can "steer" it different directions :)
hi andrew , its great to see you again. hope every thing is going well for you and the four legged buddies to. so nice to see sam out on the job with you. god bless you all and be safe.
Crazy how far equipment has progressed ! A cat 289/ 299 skid steer would work circles around that machine and you would be in an air conditioning cab with Bluetooth radio and ride control !
@@hunterlahti6342 Junk yes but it does what it will do. You’d be hard pressed to find a dozer that isn’t grenaded inside for at least double what he paid for it. That’s also with a shot undercarriage and destroyed blade.
You've got to work those in a straight line only, and turn with an on off motion only. Otherwise the clutch bands and the breaks will get cut out very quickly.
It’s worth more because it’s a “Project Bulldozer”. Never a minute of down time…for the owner. On the bright side, if it’s broken down, you’re not putting hours on the meter. If the new owner has the right mindset and credit limit, the potential for that 1010 is limitless. It could turn out to be a Guinness record holder for the 1010 with the most new parts.
I think Dave's best chance of getting a decent amount of money for this thing is selling it to one of those guys that build a big house on a decent sized piece of property and want an ornament for the entrance to their driveway. Instead of an old tractor they can have an old dozer, this a cool looking old machine.
hey andrew! I started following you from last year and I must say that I really like your CZcams channel. Seeing you work, you gave me a passion for engines and bulldozers/tractors/excavators. I hope you still go up with the writings because you deserve them all! ps: forgive my english but i use the translator because i'm italian.
Good to see you again. I was concerned you had been injured. good to see Sam, but would also liked to have seen the dogs. Maybe you could do a short video of the dogs playing frisbee.😀
Had the exact same dozer sans ROPS protection ;) We rebuilt all the clutches and did a tune up. The thing was a beast. had lots of fun doing a bunch of work. I really regret selling it.
Sure do miss your stuff Andrew. You're my favorite one and I sure do miss your content. Like everyone else I really miss seeing the dogs I hope they're both well much love.

I’ve never been a big fan of the JD crawlers preferring the IH TD or money permitting CAT. There have always been any examples for sale throughout the years because everyone who has one is trying to dump it on another!
It's crazy how much small machines have compared to just a bunch of people using muscle power. You can see how even the first tractors revolutionised farming. 4000 of horses then one man can use a machine a plow a whole field in a DAY!
Weld 5/8 rebar to the growsers for more traction on mud and ice and when wore down a bit 6011 on top an old welders trick you learn a lot working in gravel quarries. Nice old machine thanks for the upload Andrew. Wish i had your addy i would send you a post card. And home made apple sauce. Keep in mind every machine has its place on a job. Same with people i learned over the years.
Adjusting the blade using a claw hammer just has to be a tribute to Matt’s Off-road Recovery where it has become tradition to use claw hammers for the wrong job. Well done Sir!
Dave seems like the kind of guy to give it some tender loving care and a forever home. A far cry from the baptism by fire at the Camarata mountain 😂 All joking aside, I''m sure it'll be fixed up or sold on, perhaps even both. I'm not sure why it's history would make it unsaleable? I'm sure alot worse happens to countless machines and they've all been covered up and sold without a word. It's better the devil you know imo. Would I buy it? Probably not, I've got enough old busted machinery to keep me busy.
I would love to see you fix that up this winter. I bet you could improve some of your original fixes and fix things that you couldn’t attempt. Very cool.
Great video yet again. It never ceases to amaze me just how good the color and sound in these videos are. It's exactly like looking out the window and the sound is as natural as can be. Could you consider making a b-video about the current equipment and explain your process?

Nice you put some video.. this one I saw at this dumpster dave channel few months ago, now he has new bulldozer from auction I think. Waiting for bumper at dodge video.. you said it will gonna be good video and to look forward to it.
My dad owns a John Deere 1010 and it did good for abit then the left steering clutch started slipping like what was happening with you but it’s the diesel model so it’s a lot smoother when running but we decided where gonna fix it next year so it will be fun.
its been awhile since i saw a gas dozer...that dont do bad! It sounds like the carb may be a lil lean that too will make the governor hunt alot! That makes decent power
I have a JD 350 same issues with brakes and clutches. Adjusted as much as possible no one works on these anymore in my area. Would be interested in video on repairs on older equipment like this. Great videos, keep it up!
People dog on the ol 1010’s and the 350’s. Clutches. But if they are properly adjusted. And sealed from the elements (including leaking oil seals). They work great. Mine turns on a dime and can sit for over a year and they work just the same. There are a couple tricks to keeping the compartment dry. One big one is to silicone the fender brackets along with any other connection in the system. Another is to attach desiccant bags to the under side of the adjustment covers.
Using old worn out equipment is how Andrew was able to get where he is today. Its the same for a lot of contractors.

Imagine this having fixed steer clutches and a 4BT engine, and Andrew doing it on this channel. Id definitely watch that!
That is exactly I was hoping for .
johny deere motor mounts are all screwy, esp to the bell housing... not sure a 4bt would wedge in there?
I’d watch a 4BT Cummins swap in the dozer and fix clutches.
Wouldn’t everyone?
@@northmanlogging2769he’d modify the mounts and stuff it’s Andrew it’ll fit he’ll make it

This is like a "calfdozer" rather than a bulldozer.
Mooooo sing right along.
I'm thinking it is more of a NOdozer.
Probably after this dozer, Andrew was like “imma start welding camarata into everything I weld” so he can verify he built it with no questions asked
Andrew, you remind me a lot of myself years ago. Can't do it anymore but sure enjoy watching you.

An original roll cage by the master himself, that must drive up the price!

Absolutely Don.
I was hoping Andrew would break it and then fix the entire thing. Cool video to see one of his older investments. Trip down memory lane. Cool.
He did. He was trying to climb an eight foot tall root ball with it when it gave out and stopped running "for no reason".
