Big flavor win for Thassa's intervention countering Heliod's intervention.
Right?! That moment was so cool for me.
With a commander named Magnus the Red, how could Jimmy *not* miss land drops?
lol
did you factor in its Jimmy?
He needs his own deck template with slightly more lands than the typical to compensate for that luck…
The lords of chaos do not favor Jimmy’s land drops. Although they do favor his dice rolling.
He needs to learn not to keep 2 land hands😂
Jimmy saying he did nothing wrong when magnus gets killed cracked me up hard
I am glad someone else laughed when he said that XP
Russ disagrees.
Anyone who says “Magnus did nothing wrong” need to stop huffing copium
That’s a nice spine you got there Magnus. Would be a shame if someone happened to it
@@legoyoda9026 Me as an Iron Warriors Fan: Perturabo did everything wrong
That Anvil of Bogardan was the MVP of the game.
Ill admit the first orbit around the table i didnt see how it worked with rachels deck but by the 2nd i was thinking that card had to be killed lol.
and Jamie misunderstood how Anvil + Syvlan Library works. It should've been extremely punishing for him.
@@scifoncra6376 I'm pretty sure they were right about the interaction between Anvil and Sylvan Library, those two will trigger at Jamie's draw step, but due to APNAP order Anvil resolves first.
either that or Angel of Ruins
Card is amazing, im upset ive never heard of it. I have been running mono white reanimator for over 4 years now and didnt know my deck was missing such an important piece.
Man, I love when Rachel is a guest. Watching her decks and her fun attitude is a joy.
Dude she is the coolest !!!!!!
I feel like I learn how to play better when I watch her play.
She's also a sneakily good player. Her builds are on point and she's a master of timings and rulings to get the most out of her effects
Rachel has such a contagious energy
@@nicholasrolo886 well she is part of the cag
Christ I just love Rachel. She is goofy, plays super well, has a great attitude and her decks are sweet. More Rachel all the time.
Great game from her, yes :) Although I feel like an Aetherflux Reservoir could have made her life a lot easier, no?
"Do you still lose one life to suture priest?"
"I will discard a wurmcoil angel and an Eles......"
This episode is Peak Weeks
Not to mention her voice is always a delight.
Agree 100%
Pro-tip is definitely to listen to her podcast for more of all that.
Jimmy - "how can I lose?"
Me - "you are getting mana screwed are you?"
Jimmy did nothing wrong.
Or he just overcommits to one bad tuen after another until he's juiced out? 🤷♂️
When does Jimmy not get mana screwed tbh
To be fair, he came close to winning... And then alt. lose condition happened.
I've watched all extra turns episodes and this is one of the craziest, if not the craziest game of the series by far. Everyone had a chance to sequence crazy turns this game!
Really wish jordan picked the other way with that enchantment because i want to see jimmy's final turn with all those tokens!
There's no way I would have survived another turn from Jimmy! At least with Rachel I had a chance. That ranger Capitan of Eos really messed up my plan
@@JordanPridgen good game Jordan, great episode
@@JordanPridgen yeah, good game dude, amongst the table i like your deck the most!
I feel like Jamie was relentlessly targeted by the 3 others. Even worst than the Swarmlord deck of Ashlen, he could not even attack with a big creature, anything he does that was not instant speed was removed swiftly. He understood this and basically stopped to play as it was so useless and thus could prevent Jimmy to create dragons.
@@Exodard that is EDH for ya...
I LOVE the interaction at 48:35.
1. Exiling Commander
2. Super rummage and synergy-strong creature-creator
2.5 Super boost target copy 3/3 creature with awesome EtB
3. Exile the copy and investigate
3.5 Clues doubled doubled
4. 5 Spirits on resolution
ALL ON RACHEL'S TURN
This was my favorite stack of the game too!
Rachel is just such a beast of a deckbuilder. I loved the idea of Celestine as a commander and seeing her in the hands of someone as good as Rachel was so satisfying.
this is a youtube scam dont reply
It s an horrible commander ... against serious deck has no hopes
@@paolocantoni7065 I don't care about raw power level or whether it's able to win at a cedh table.
@@paolocantoni7065 what do you mean "serious deck"? Because she seems decent. She's not insane or anything but it's certainly not bad
@@paolocantoni7065 I've got something you power hungry people don't have: friends
Normally by the half way point you can kinda tell where the game will favor, but when Rachel plays she can pull a win out of nowhere and make it look effortless. She’s a favorite of mine for sure! Building this deck asap!!
These are literally all the commanders I wanted to see in action. Thank you.
Same. I’m pumped.
I'm sad Jason's commander got knocked out "early", as that commander was who i was most excited to see
@@keybirdgaming4527 Honestly me too. I wish we saw more big flashy X spells.
One of the best games on this channel EVER
More Rachel please!! She brings great energy and brews!
Game starts 5:28
Thank you.
Youre amazing and i hope your magic pack contains a super rare card
Skipperino is that you?
Thanks G
I love the flavor of two gods intervening against each other at 13:45.
Celestine is so freaking good. I want to build her now. Rachel is a great deck builder, always impressed with the way she build her decks.
Same. I love the way her brain works. Her decks always have such great synergies
That's not the more complicated deck to build, I don't remember the land but there's one with "tap : sac a creature, you gain life equal to it's toughness" basically you can sac anything you want and at the end of your turn it comes back with it's effect. Basically the combo is : Sac Angels of the ruin with the land, gains 7 life, end of turn you gained 7 life you can cast Angels of the ruin again and exile two permanents. Even if you get wipe board 10 times all you have to do is recast your commander again. That's why she has lot of cards that gives indestructible and hexproof to her commander. She only need to protect this only card and it's nearly impossible to lose. And gaining life in mono white is easy.
So I won't class Celestine at the same lvl of combo as cards like Magnus the Red, Belisarius or Lucea. Imo they need far more synergy and combo (and strategy) than Celestine. Celestine you only need your commander, gaining life (which again is granted in your mono white deck) and creatures in your graveyard. It makes me think of my Kathril deck, you only need the right keywords in your graveyard then cast your commander and win the game.
Only way to win against decks like Kathril and Celestine is to exile the graveyard (or have cards who say you win the game but not fun to build and play). And not everyone wants to use some slots to put cards only to counter specifies decks. In our commander table we both ban cards that automatically win by themself and cards who says "you win" or "target player lose"
Rachel´s mono white deck was a beast this game
Always enjoy seeing Rachel as a guest!
Heliod intervenes, Thassa intervenes back. I love these moments in magic, and game knights always makes it happen
So glad to see a Celestine deck in action. She was one of the coolest commanders that came out of the set in my opinion. And she really did some cool stuff in this game.
In my case I really don't like Celestine, but it's only because I found life gain decks unfair, so giving the possibility to rea big creatures through life gain is too powerfull.
@@GuroItuyoshi why do you find Lifegain unfair?
@@joedoe7572 if I were to wager (and no hate to the poster) they likely only play beat down or other strategies that struggle against life gain. Or they play at a table that's very passive so the life gain gets out of hand with no check
the backdrop is so good it looks normal like they were supposed to be there
LA backdrop
Also we need to see more of these Warhammer commanders built and played.

Great guests! Keep bringing Rachel back!
At 26:40 that quiet "the bird is bolted" got me.😆
Everyone: OMG we have to kill Jamie his deck is too dangerous even though we removed a ton of his synergic pieces
Rachael: Sitting pretty with 61 life.
Sad game to watch really, if i wanted to see a bloodbath i'd play arena ranked.
Hard to avoid a huge red target on your head when you're starting off with Sylvan library, ancient tomb, rhystic study.
Also in Temur with a powerful commander... I would've taken him out asap too
@@stiivotuts and the counters he was putting out deff put him in peoples line of sight.
A lot of people ignore life gain in general, it doesn't register as much of a threat, more just a nuisance
His deck had the biggest potential to win the game on the spot. Correct threat assessment
Fun fact: Jimmy should've made six tokens with Occult Epiphany. Tribal is a card type.
In any case, magnificent game. So many little flavor wins and ridiculous moments. Thank you all for it!
That Belisarius Cawl deck changed my mind on his power level AND the flavouring - every step of the way felt like a true machine with all kinds of cool tech and crazy moving parts, slowly building itself into a sentient engine
You should look up his 40k lore lol, he's a beast
He should be a 6/6 with hexproof and indestructible. He used to be so hard to kill in game.
My biggest issue with Cawl's flavor is no black. The dude is the EMBODIMENT of black mana, doing whatever he can to attain knowledge and power, no matter the cost. He is widely considered a tech heretic because he breaks the admech rules constantly, created a program to upgrade Astartes with a 61% failure rate resulting in the death of the imperiums highly worshiped warriors. The guy worked with the Necrons! He should be U/B, if not esper.
I've been playing mtg for almost 20 years and some of this almost made my head spin at how crazy it gets. Wow, what a great game of commander! Makes me miss live magic.
this is a youtube scam dont reply
Always a pleasure to see Rachel. By far my favorite guest. Definitely like group mom here... "You can copy your X spells ONE time"
This game felt like something that would happen in the 40k universe. so much destruction of machines, creatures, humans. so many tactics and strategies being played out too.
I think Jimmy was contractually obligated to play Magnus the RED.
I like how the table willingly lost their life in response to the Suture Priest. My playgroup makes me ASK every TIME. I'm like, come on guys 🤣
28:20 Surprise Jamie didn't attack with his alter ego to use the lifelink.
He wanted it back to block both of Rachel's flyers - they would've dealt more damage than he would've gained from the ego.
Shouldn’t it have not been able to copy Celestine anyways with the shroud on Lightning greaves.
@@jo_ken the wording on Alter Ego doesn't actually require targeting Celestine, so it gets around shroud! A handy interaction.
@@ScientologyisFTL she probably wouldn't have swung at him, at least not with both her creatures, if he didn't swing at her. If I was her I would have swung at Jordan if he didn't swing at me
Jimmy misses land drop **everyone around the world at the same time** "Claaaaaaaassic Jimmy"

Jimmy: discards land
Also jimmy: "I need lands!"
Jimmy really needs at least 90 lands in his deck to avoid getting mana screwed. 😄😄
And he would still go the first 2 turns not drawing any land
The EDH deck when you build it:
-36-38 lands
-4-5 mana rocks/dorks
-56-59 other cards
The EDH deck when you need to draw gas:
-90 lands
-8 mana rocks/dorks
-1 other card (which is not the card you need)
The EDH deck when you need mana:
-1 land
-1 mana rock/dork
-97 other cards (none of which you can cast)
Run a 99 land deck with Child of Alara
@@jakedavidson50 I had a zero land deck with Garth. (Goblin charbelcher)
Jordan's midnight clock has got to be the intrusive upkeep trigger ever!
If I was at the table. I would aggressively say stfu . 😂
I doubt if they were playing a game off-camera he would do that xD

Rachel is such a joy to have on the show! Her deck building skills are so creative!!!!! :D
X cost payoff commanders seem really fun when it gets to the late game
WOW! Great game! Rachel was on fire and her deck was SWEET!
Hurry my friend, thank you for watching, hit me up you have w.on a P.S.5 for yourself.
Cawl is not de facto leader of Adeptus Mechanicus. That honor belongs to the fabricator general of Mars. Cawl however is the face of Mechanicus as the ten millenia old multipersonality disorder artificer, which is even better than being just a mere leader.
Glad someone pointed this out, even though I don't blame them for messing up on 40k lore it's good to have the correct info out there
You know that most of the "the emperor of mankind" is bad lore takes, "looks at erta". Not wrong on cawl but he he is largely considered a tech heretic but officially liked by the imperium.
Remember he was given the chalice so he could screw it or design better marines by guilliman before guilliman was put in status. Then they massively forgot then released primaris, ofc they have been in stasis for many years.
I bet you that in a year or so he’ll be fabricator general and this video will be retroactively correct
Neat.... Anyways so magic the gathering exists
Well if you read the books in the latest lore update, cawl I believe actually becomes the new fabricator General, or is in line to get it
This game just popped in my head and had to come back and watch! What a game
Awesome episode. Neat commanders doing fun stuff and the game ending with cards turning sideways in the red zone instead of boring infinite combos. Exactly what I love to see.
homeboy needs a darksteel forge like yesterday
I regretted not having one soooo bad in that moment
such a good game!!....Rachel has been one of my favorite players on the show
I would place her at the bottom in my case because she focused Jamie too much
@@GuroItuyoshi Jamie was clearly the only player that was threatening her board state. Jimmy never got anywhere and Jordan was wheel spinning most of the time, while Jamie's rampant card draw gave him a lot of chances to find answers
Easily one of the top games you guys have ever put out. Totally awesome showing from each deck!
This was so good. Easily my favorite Extra Turns episode of all times. And Rachel Weeks is so good: She knows deck building and she plays so well.
Rachel is insane
The “he did nothing wrong” from Jimmy as Magnus died was perfect. Chef’s kiss.
Teasing brothers Warner? I see that commander in the back.
An AMAZING game, super fun commanders, super well built decks, probably the best episode of command zone I've ever seen.
Absolutely amazing game. Cool decks, lots of action, great player line up. Thanks CZ!
This is what I originally thought the Game Knights episode would've been.
The Game Knights episodes with precons are primarily meant to advertise the products. Prospective buyers have to see what's actually in the decks and how they play.
But Extra Turns is a perfect place for these sorts of more advanced gameplay videos. The lines of play are usually less excruciatingly explained, too, so the games are snappier, if potentially harder to follow.
@@vel0xraperio To me they should have played with the face commanders if it's to just show off the decks. Using two face commanders one of which is arguable to be the worst of the 4 and 2 commanders that are some of the best is not good to show off the potential of the decks
@@siritachi31 You may be right, but just swapping out the face commanders for one of the alternatives is a move players at home could easily mimic. If not for their first games straight out of the box, at least on subsequent play sessions. What's important is that Game Knights showcases the product and the alternate commanders like Marneas Calgar are still part of the product.
Man, that final duel between Jordan and Rachel was EPIC!! I mean, this WHOLE game was epic! Interactions non-stop, great strategies, great job to everyone 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
this is a youtube scam dont reply
I just want to say: I really appreciate that all the ExtraTurns and GameKnights decklists get posted. Especially when a deck doesn't get to go off, it's so nice to see what the game plan looked like, what they could have drawn to fix a lot of issues. Another case of "you dont have to, but you do it". Another reason you're one of my favorite magic channels.
Ke$ah reference love it!
Halo Fountain+Midnight Clock is a boardstate I call "The Full Ke$ha"

Love to see Jimmy learning the 40k memes
Good game, everyone went off, and this is one of the few times we’ve seen someone attempt a commander damage win!
Thanks for showing the teferis protection, what a game. To be that close and just not have enough at the end. Congrats to Rachel, I bought the esper precon and I'll probably build Celestine now.
The last game with Rachel was a banger too - I always really like her decks.
I just love Rachel. I have exactly her playstyle: Hardcore focus on synergies, constant strategic murmurs while appearing to just be rational. And then winning with commander damage. Excellently played, but also kudos to Jordan for a fantastic artifact engine.

That was an epic game. Well played by all, and a lot of peaks and valleys throughout the pod!
What a game...loved that it was just 1hr game play of twists and turns and no chitchat.
JIMMY! STOP KEEPING RISKY HANDS! You literally just got punished for this on the last episode of Game Knights. I love you buddy but come on man D:
An Extra Turns episode that's as long as a GameKnights episode? YIKES!
Keep in mind that GK spends a lot of video time on comments and animations, so this is really something.
Out of all of the episodes this has been has favorite.

Its crazy to see rachel as a amain member now and the staff on many if episodes . Such a good channel
I love how the hands on the hour counter on the Midnight Clock actually ticked up along with the hour lol. Also all the clock based jokes, I do the same thing 😆
So no one has noticed the infinite combo *on board* Jordan had at 27:34 ?
EDIT: Aphetto Alchemist had summoning sickness, okay, but it did survive through the whole turn cycle. At that point, Jordan could have just equipped it with Illusionist's Braces and make infinite mana
There were plenty of missed opportunities and misplays lol. But yeah sometimes people don't plan for Infinite combos so they don't see them if they are there by accident. I accidently have one in my Zangief deck that I didn't plan for either

Spoiler
Wow, who would guess that the player with 61 life who went completely unimpeded for most the game would end up winning? /s I feel like there were some questionable choices in regard to threat assessment, but still a neat game with fun commanders imo
Exactly my thoughts. Honestly pretty boring game all things considered when you could already see the writing on the wall halfway through the game that no one seemed to care to mess with Rachel's board or be aggressive towards her. The only really curveball thrown was that Mirrodin Besieged being played thinking Jordan could possibly win out of nowhere but as long as that Angel of the Ruins was not sitting in exile you knew it wasn't gonna stick on the board for long.
The only threat against all this life was Jamie and his big creatures. But as he could not attack or build his board, it was of course the untouched lifelink player that easily won.
I think you underestimate how well Rachel (and Azorius in general) are able to eliminate the threats that can effect them and let others fight it out. Rachel played lots more removal than any other player (Jordan came close at the end) and was able to control the game.
@@tren3220 rachel wasnt azorious, but i do see your point. Felt Jamie got alot of unwarrented aggression though, considering at the time of death he had no field and all his scary things were destroyed
@@HydraQU33N My bad, I confused Jordan being Azorius, with Rachel who felt like she was playing Azorius control!
how many times did I expect Jordan to tutor up a darksteel forge!!!
Imagine being able to take out the person who's constantly staying above 40 life, keeps coming back from multiple board wipes and looking at the guy with 1/1 tokens and saying that's a bigger threat. There's no way he was ever getting Rachel down she was doing too well to be killed with raw damage. But Jimmy could easily have killed her then it's not hard to wipe out tokens again
There's no way I would have survived a turn of Jimmy untapping, and if you could have seen my hand it would be clear why I didn't think Rachel was a threat.... Until Ranger Captain of Eos came down and turned off the cards I needed 😬
I think Jordan and I talked about this after, but holding the Mirrodin Besieged a turn to force me to spend all my resources and deal with Jimmy's board-he knew I had an Elesh Norn in the graveyard-was probably the best play. Then, use Besieged to kill me and run over Jimmy.
@@therachelweeks Devious! Shame these comments are buried so far down
@@JordanPridgen politics! That would have been an awesome move. Easy to miss though
Would Teferi's Protection have really helped? Couldn't Rachel just shut down your next turn by getting back Ranger Captain of Eos and attacking the next turn?
@@joedoe7572 it's possible! I feel like there was some reason she couldn't but I can't say for sure. I don't remember exactly what I had in hand, but if I had survived I think I would have at least had a chance!
