I work in commercial construction and these are the kinds of details which get missed more often than not, unfortunately, because the MEP engineers are often working at a different pace or with a different set than the architect. We find stuff that gets missed between architectural and MEP drawings all the time.

As a truss designer, a good way to design those trusses that would’ve prevented you from having to grind out the concrete would be to get rid of the end vertical and start the first diagonal from the top. So if the truss is long or building is shorter by a 1/2”, you could’ve cut the bottom chord by that much and eliminated the grinding issue

In my part of the world, those trusses are called flats. BC Canada. I build the largest roof in this province, a three piece. Two flats 72 feet long connected in the middle with a 74 foot flat with a one inch camber in it. It was a Apple Packing warehouse.

Hope you're using a high-efficiency particulate filter when you're cutting and grinding concrete Eric.
Ideally you should be using a respirator with a P100 or N100 filter to ensure maximum protection. A close friend who I worked with has been a builder for decades and he would often not use the correct protective masks when working with concrete, he now suffers from severe Silicosis.
Silicosis is such a debilitating condition it's hard and sad seeing my mate suffer just because he thought he'd be okay or didn't find the time to protect his lungs and himself...

I know around here a crane is usually at least 500 an hour with a 4 hour minimum, so a minimum of 2000 dollars just to get them up there, you'd need a lot of man hours to make up the difference. A telehandler would be a better option

You should have absolutely used Your impact driver with a spade bit and not Your drill. Any drill bits that are designed fit into an impact driver with the 1/4 hex bit are designed to use with the impact driver and not the drill. So You dont snag up and hurt your wrist and make the hole bad. The impact driver gives you the a way better faster job on spade bits especially.
