I just finished reading Fourth Wing and I was able to skip all of the hype. Very new to Romance Fantasy books, but I am excited to check out the other books here. I haven't read any others. I was thinking of starting with ACOTAR, but I don't really know much about SJM. Regardless, I am going to buy a kindle because there's no way I can collect all of these series.
My wife got me into the dark romance genre and I just finished listening to all 4 books in The Never King/ Lost Boys series and the story was good and there was almost too much spice in books 1 and 2 but it seemed to balance out as the books went on.

I loved this video, it definitely made my TBR just a little bit longer haha! Ashes and the Star-Cursed King definitely focuses more on the romance/characters, and it bumped the series up to one of my all-time favorite fantasy romances (I really enjoyed the first book, but the second was something special for me). :) Out of curiosity, how would you rank the spice level of the Zodiac Academy series?
From what I remember, the series gets spicer as it progresses but I’d probably say medium?! Only because those books are SO LONG - so even though there is spice there is also a lot of other things going on in terms of plot!
@@HonestFiction Thank you for answering! That's good to know as that's what I'm gravitating more towards these days. I DEFINITELY still want the spice (the more the better lol), but I'm also looking for immersive plots and world-building, which is why I really enjoyed Carissa Broadbent's Nightborn Duet.
I just finished Woven by Gold (the sequel to Bonded by Thorns) and it was spicier than the first one and really fun. Also currently reading The Mate Games and it’s definitely the spiciest thing I’ve ever read 😂

I added the Umbra king to my TBR. Sounds interesting! And I love ACOSF and I was surprised as to how spicy that was esp vs other books in the series.
A friend of mine read ACOSF and gave it a 3/5 on the spice scale. I wanna know what she considers a 5

It would be interesting to do this with the first books and last books of series, some series go the spicy route and some dive more into plot

My favourite spicy fantasy romance series is Zodiac Academy 😍 Darius has my heart forever. But I also loved The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac and The Bonds that Tie.👌😊 But the spiciest I've ever read is The Ninth Realm series by Amelia Hutchins. 🤤🤤 Love that one too.

This was great! I can’t wait you read The wolf and the wildflower! The spice there is over the top! Also, Nectar of the wicked by the same author was pretty good too, not as good as the Wolf but good and there is a lot of spice there too

When you talked about FBAA, did you just talk about the 1st book? Because I have just finished it and it had like 3 or 4 sex scenes + that weird titty licking scene right at the start and that's it. It's nowhere near "more spice than plot". But I have heard it gets spicier as the books go on, so idk if you misremember book 1 or you were talking about the whole series.
Sorry, I should have made myself more clear! The series as a whole would be in the “hot” tier but I misspoke if I said it is more spice than plot?! The books I put in the fire tier are the only ones that would be considered spice>plot.

@@HonestFiction no it's definition is an intense passionate dislike towards something or an individual lol so saying you hated something and then giving it 2.5 out of 5 is hilarious to me that's all. A lot of people these days throw around the words love and hate like candy not realizing it's true meaning. I just felt your attachment to the author makes it hard to rate her work low or whatnot, i dont know it doesn't matter. Lol anyways I LOVE! your videos 2.5 outta 5 ;P
