    They don't want to teach history because it might possibly make somebody feel bad about some horrific past events. Only thing is, not knowing about this hampers our ability to prevent similar such events in the future.

    Terrifying. I went to school in Herrin for 4 years, and this event was never brought up.

    Scott Doody is the reason those men were found in that potters field and given a proper resting place. Without him and his team they would have been forgotten forever.

    I had always been told that most of the so called “scabs”:didn’t even know where they were going or why. They were just trying to feed themselves and their families. Too many try to justify this in some half a-- way. I think it is one of the saddest and most horrific events in the history of the country. All humanity was lost on this day.
