I hope Ktm will launch Ipoh to Tanjung Malim komuter train. Because Ets train ticket sold out very fast. In case emergency time we cannot get the ticket. If komuter train got means it easy for us to balik north side. Doesn't matter don't have seat. I can stand until my destination.

I hope that KTM can stepped up their game, as the on-board train arrival announcement for the last station, Padang Rengas, is still ongoing without updates from them.
Trying to stay optimistic that they won't delay in addressing this issue, especially now that they have extended their services to Ipoh station.

Malaysia's rail system is confusing to first time travelers. On this Komuter line do you just purchase a ticket and get on? No seat assignments or reservations for a particular train? If it's full can you stand for the trip?

It's highly inconsiderate and inhumane not to provide toilet facilities on all Komuter trains. The long haul Butterworth-Padang Besar and Butterworth-Ipoh trains are 2 hour rides. How to control nature's call for that long? Have a heart for the senior citizen commuters who need to use the toilet often. Also, sell seat numbers for long-haul Komuter trains to be assured of a seat.

    • @RailTravel_Station

The KTM Komuter service has expanded beyond what it was originally designed to do. For toilet facilities and reserved seating, take the ETS.

Komuter is not for long distance traveling. In any case, washroom facility is necessary, as there can be a need anytime, regardless of the distance. The problem is the Komuter frequency is very low. Most of the time, there is only 1 departure every 1-3 hours. It has to be 1 departure about every 15 minutes, so that people can alight, use the washroom at the station, then board the next train. Besides, 1 departure every 1-3 hours is not good enough to promote rail usage. One may argue there are ETS departures in between. But there is almost no possibility of getting an ETS ticket when at the station. So, Komuter frequency has to increase from the current 10 departures a day to at least 60. But from the experience with public transport authorities in this country, this will not happen for at least a few more decades......

It is not apple to apple, this is not a high speed train, it is a suburban commuter train called KTM Komuter, similar to a metro train.
The trainsets which is Class 83 manufactured by Hyundai has been used since 1990s.
There is also an express train called ETS, the ticket price, the onboard facilities (cafe / toilet), the seat layout, station covered, distance covered & train speed are very different between these two.

I see you are here too. If you want to promote your 🇮🇩 HSR this isn't a good platform. Komuter trains here have been around for decades, undergoing improvements over the interval. It serves the West Coast townships spanning 8 states. Cheap adequate transportation
