I'm watching this review and feel strange because... most of the things you guys hate, I actually love about the movie. The scream heard around the world. The mythological scale of it all. I want more of it. I will agree that the song choices were awful though.
There are obviously going to be different tastes and that's fine but I appreciate having snyders universe which is VERY different, but not for everybody, opposite of marvel and even opposite the direction that DC seems to be going. I like man of steel, BvS is flawed but I love how heavy the movie feels and this to me.. is the payoff to that feeling. The 3rd act is so inspiring and with everything going on in my life and many lives, it's exactly the kind of media I've been looking to consume right now.

For better or for worse depending on who you are this movie maintains that Snyder tone throughout and as a fan of Zach Snyder films and very hopeful of this version I'm blown away how well it turned out, and I think it's crazy how much it feels like a different film than the original. I don't know how anyone could say that it isn't a thousand times better than the Whedon version. Yes it's an over-long, over-indulgent fantasy movie taken deathly seriously... but so was The Return of The King Extended Edition and I loved that movie too (don't remember that being so bright and cheerful either..). So many of these complaints could be directed at the Lord of The Rings, characters randomly breaking into long songs in foreign languages.. check, long scenes with unnecessary world building.. check, unnecessary slow motion.. check! This has great acting performances, great action, great visuals, great character stories... obviously it's not on the same level as The Return of The King but that's the only other movie I can really compare this to and I mean that as a big compliment. I really don't know what Snyder has to do to please some people...

In all honesty, I only want to watch a cyborg movie because of this movie; the same goes for the flash. This notion that everything must begin with an origin tale of each character is outdated. One of this movies biggest strengths was its ability to flush out just enough (not everything), about a character to make me want more from them. If they went down the other route of story telling (I guess marvels); I would not have any exposure to any of the less notable characters, and would go back to not caring enough to watch movies based on em. @@0biRonKenobi Yes and no. Really do really understand whats going on in this universe. Come on you know its all over the place. They need to recon some stuff if they continue with this. You're leaving DCEU off the hook, they need explanations answered similar to how Marvel Universe is answering all our questions making plot holes very little to none so far. The mother boxes, when are they awakened? Why can'ts the hero's use them against DarkSeid and his realm? Flash and Superman are hell of fast, whenever DarkSeid created the portal from his realm to Earth Realm, flash and superman could've entered and just ended DarkSeid. I think the way Superman is presented in the DCEU, just ruins the immersion and believabilty. Yall talking about Marvel having Scarlett witch and Captain Marvel, at least they're presented OP and yes Thanos was getting hit ass kicked by them, but he outsmarted them cleverly. You don't get that here in the Justice League. Literally Superman could fly through the portal and kick DarkSeid ass. The DC Animated Justice League makes Superman much better to watch, instead of the live action movies.

I love DC and always have but i wasn't a fan of MOS, BVS and certainly not JL (2017) not to throw shade at fans who do like those films, But i can say i'm a fan of Zack Snyder's Justice League.

  • @thedefinitionisthis

Watched it last night. Enjoyed it SO MUCH more than the 2017 film. At four hours, the movie did what I always felt it had to do without the luxury of having previous movies introduce their heroes; it let us spend more time with the individual Justice Leaguers, especially Cyborg and Flash. It's ridiculous how much of their footage was scrapped for the 2017 film. I know WB had a mandate of keeping it to 2 hours, but my God you can't expect your crossover movie to rival Marvel's with a 2-hour run time, when you're using that very movie to introduce half of your team. Because of these new storylines, I never felt those 4 hours. I know everyone's different, but I really felt the runtime was justified, given the scope of the story, and how the means to which the JL defeat Steppenwolf are only introduced in this movie. Easily now, my favorite of Snyder's entries to the DCEU. It's not as somber as either MoS or BvS, but it still has a dark tone and a sense of agency & stakes that the 2017 one didn't have. It's lighter, and yet it doesn't feel like a forced comedy sketch, like much of the 2017 version was. Is it perfect? Hell no. Definitely some things here and there that I didn't need, ie. certain music cues and sweater-sniffing. Superman isn't a huge presence, but he definitely pulls his weight at the end. I like that he doesn't render the League usless in comparison to the 2017 film, but rather he's a bit of a power boost. The killing blow is saved for the other Leaguers, as well as how they ultimately save the world. Overall, this was the epic movie that characters like the Justice League deserve. Given the movies (or lack there of) that preceded it, and the general audience's reactions to these particular versions of the characters, this movie definitely exceeded my expectations, and made me want to see them in action together again; not because of some half-hearted interest in the franchise, but because now, I'm genuinely invested in these characters. The movie just did a much better job fleshing out the new characters and showing the League working together. Haters gonna hate.

Like Greg, this isn't the Justice League that I would have made. I like Man of Steel a lot despite all of its flaws. I like a lot of Batman V Superman, but the bad outweighs the good for me. This film takes the good and the bad from both of those and puts it into a wild 4 hour adventure, and I really had a good time with it. Do I NEED more of it? No. But for the fans who do, I hope they get it. And hopefully someday I get the version that I want.

The mangoes have been counted boys.....THIS IS THE BEST OF THE DCEU TO DATE! Snyder somehow made Flash, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman great characters again using footage and ideas from 4-6 yrs ago and built fresh hype for a universe that the studio and all the filmmakers of the last 8 films since have been actively trying to kill.
To all the haters still trying to rationalize, be real with yourselves...after watching this can you seriously say you would rather watch a sequel to...WW84, SS, Joker, Shazam, Aquaman, Josstice League.....or see Zack Snyders Justice League 2?
If we are all being truthful there is no way anything else in the DC universe with their existing creative teams and story threads has set up anything near as interesting and fun as what we just got. Lets raise the stakes once more...if someone said you could only choose one based on everything you have seen so far....would u choose to see Pattinson Batman, Gunn's Suicide Squad, or Snyders JL finale/sequel?

It is funny that the people who do not like ZSJL cannot actually come up with legitimate criticism. Because their opening statements show they came into watching the movie with hate for zack. When a reviwer say nobody would store a bow that way. It really seems like they are reaching a lot. The only complaint you can say truly is that some parts did not need to be slow motion. The part in the village with the lady singing was because the people in the village see the things aquaman does as godly. Old tales of the gods like Thor. But they should have all watched the whole movie. Not just the first 2 chapters. Only one of these guys watched the full thing. The rest will probably look at other youtube reviews and piece it all together, to make it seem like they watched it. People complaining about about cyborg giving the woman money are funny. Because superman and all the super heros are not police officers. So they are just assaulting people if you want to go that route. Trying to say that everyone's story should have been told before they were introduced. That means the aquaman movie could not be told the way it was. Because I doubt everyone is not wanting to see a whole movie of aquaman as a child for over an hour, or the flash as a kid for over an hour, most background stories can be told in a quick flash back. The Russo Brothers gave zack a shout out. Mavels big guns want watch it. So I think if they can go into a movie without baggage. That shows what they think of zacks work.

Do you mean it was a mistake not releasing this 4 hour version back in 2017? Because that would have never happened. If Snyder had got to finish this movie back then it would have been around 2 hours like every other movie. There is no way WB would have let him make a 4 hour movie for the cinema back in 2017.

My biggest issue with it is the Batman has virtually no edge to him. And that's mostly in Ben's portrayal here, compared to what it was in BvS. He had more of that usual Bruce Wayne grit and arroagance, in how he carried himself, but here he was just Ben in a suit. Just feel like neither version did Batman well. BvS did, minus the murder. WW debut action scene is way better than 84's, but also way lesser stakes/threats. 84's robbers were decent people that didn't want to harm others, so she wasn't going to kill them, compared to these assholes taking hostages and shooting/bombing them. So her going to town on them compared to 84 had proper context to justify it.
Also, the wrist blasts she does have never affected the area around her, only in front of her, so the hostages would be safe from it. She went overkill on him cause he just tried to shoot everyone, it pissed her off.

The aquaman singing scene reminded me of the burial song from lord of the rings.
Wasn't it to do with him only visiting that place once a year? And the song is kinda like them singing a loved one off to sea not knowing if he/they will come back.
