Kozo Takeda uses mix of both kicks but he actually uses this kick a lot and knocks out even seasoned thai fighters with low kicks.

The good thing on this low kick style is that you are always in the fight line ready to throw boxing combinations which is Masato's strength. Thai fighters mostly lost against good boxers. Buakaw was knocked down twice by good punches from Dida and Masato. Same reason why Samart Payakooron was once the best Muay Thai fighter in golden era of MT because he was not only good in kicking but also superior in boxing. Sittichai is dominating Glory because his fighting style evolved from traditional MT into forward aggressive kickboxing and throw more punches than kicks.

I don't think one is better than other, each one has it porpouse. One leads you to control the fighter because hoy keep your stand, the other one leads you to a new angle, out of the way of counter punches.

I kicked a lot of kicking pads and I dont agree too. I asked partner which kicks were worst and they said it were the ones that went down like 45° degree down. Like you chop a tree. Makes sense. Gravitiy. You have more power punching down then punching horizontally or up

Dont think this will be smart against a good checker. Kicks going from low angle up to the high is perfect for a nice good check. But not saying this style of kicking ISNT effective. I think you can use both type of kicks in their right moments. There is a time and place for all moves and counters.
