Just got into exploration. I want to do outposts, exploration and pirating. What skills would you recommend to have to be fairly balanced in all 3?
It's worth mentioning that selling the exploration data to Vladimir Sall on The Eye (the Constellation space station orbiting Jemison) nets you double the credits compared to anywhere else. Since the data doesn't have any weight it's worth hanging onto it until you can sell to him. I clear him out of credits every couple of days.
I had no idea this was a thing! Thanks for the tip!
Vlad’s nickname is ‘the impaler,’ but don’t ask him why.
@@sub-jec-tivask his wife
Nice, I sold 2 to the Den. I'll save the rest for Vlady lol
This is literally my playstyle so far. Just exploring and collecting
This game did open world so we’ll. It’s legit space ducking skyrim
Tis why I got this game. Love it 😀
I was on this one planet where there were Aggressive Dinosaurs.... That were invisible. I said nope and left.
What system was this in? That sounds awesome!
Found the only place worse then the death claw nest
I’ve found that too, I wasn’t sure at first if it was a bug but I’m sure now it wasn’t

I love your enthusiasm and authenticity Scott, this games community needs more people like you.
translation he makes a mediocre game sound good and interestng.

I love how so many of the skills work as the singular focus of an RP build as well as the secondary focus. A pure scientist might use loads of surveying and exploration skills, but all characters can dabble in a little of the exploration skills for any number of RP reasons. I love this game.
I had a fun level 70 world. There were lion bears, massive herding crab creatures and other individuals that were hard to describe. But the apex predator byfar was a cricket about the size of a medium breed of dog. Absolutely vicious.
The creature design in this game is crazy, some of the beasts I've come across made me pause the game to collect myself lol
Randomly surveyed my first planet today and was pleasantly surprised by the 400 XP that popped up on my screen.
I feel like from an RP point of view, it makes sense to focus on the main story and then once finished focusing on exploring the different worlds and biomes and building up my ship and some outposts on some really nice planet
Fudgemuppet recommends not rushing it. It's hard not to get wrapped up in something else though. U will probably want to answer distress calls and start faction quest lines.
I’d say from a RP point of view, you can explore under the premise of scanning planets for artifacts. You can survey a planet and act as if you’re searching for gravitational anomalies. Bring a Constellation companion along to really get into it.
@@agentnukaz1715 this, not spoiling the story so far but there are multiple senses of urgency in areas of the games storylines so it gets really difficult trying to justify say planet scanning or harvesting things when someone's being attacked by Spacers or there's a big story device which wouldn't make sense not to do straight away
@@newdelhiman3083 after playing 40 hrs I'd say do the main story at least until you unlock your crew then join whatever faction you want, then your free.
Ahhh this is the video I've been waiting for!
I love the scanning and exploring. I just sold 3 surveys and it was awesome!
I played No Man's Sky for years. Always wanted more feature filled geography and geology as well as multiple biomes. Starfield is this.
Thanks for all your help with Bethesda games. Very interesting to listen to and it adds alot to the gameplay.
Been playing since early access on series s i have been blown away by everything including the performance on the S so no worries on the underdog xbox it looks and plays great. This game is like an addiction so fun to do just about everything. 40 hours into it and i feel like ive barely started. Im that guy who spent 9 hours exploring new atlantis and not regreting it only to find neon and being mind blown away by the look and feel of it. All i can say is play this game if you are a bethesda fan even if there is one aspect of the game that you do not like there are so many great things in it that makes the game worth playing for any bethesda fan. This is rapidly becoming my favorite bethesda game ever and ive been playing since daggerfall. Ill always be a fan of fantasy games and this game makes me hyped for tes 6 but just how good this game feels to play has brought it on par with my love for the elder scrolls.
Thank you for confirming the ocean animals exist. I was going insane trying to find the last animal on multiple planets and realized they all had oceans. I figured it was something like this. Now I will have to go back!
Ya'll are on a roll! Great work with these videos lately guys, getting me excited to give this game a try!
The enthusiasm from this channel is so refreshing compared to all of the negativity on Reddit and from many gaming journalists. While Starfield hasn't topped Skyrim for me yet, I have greatly enjoyed it so far. I know you two are not afraid to criticize Bethesda, so I know your thoughts are genuine. The fact you are enjoying the game so much makes me feel a little less crazy for enjoying it when seemingly everyone else just wants to complain.
It makes me happy to hear how you and Michael are enjoying this game much more than you thought you would’ve.
Exploring is my favorite way to play the game. Just pick a planet and go. So fun!
Thank you so much, I have been doing a lot of exploration in my playthrough, and this guide has been super helpful. I didn't even know how some of these features exactly worked until you pointed it out in this guide, so again thank you.
always such high quality content!! thanks for this it seriously helped me out a bunch
This was a playstyle I fancied getting into this guide really helped with the fundamentals. Brilliant stuff. Thanks.
I can't wait for your Starfield builds!

Awesome video I have been exploring and loving it. The world are so vast.
I just started playing tonight and my first playthrough is as an Explorer and I am loving it!! 😊
I am also enjoying the scanning of planets. Once i figured out about the different biomes i had alot more fun and less frustration. Im slowly working in getting allnthe appropriate skill points for exploration and base building
This game is so much fun
Right in time for it to unlock. I intend to do an explorer build first up, so thanks for the vid.
This was insanely helpful - man this game has a lot of depth
This game seems like it was basically designed around the explorer archetype ( altho since this is a Beth game Scott will show us another 50+ builds that are absolutely viable )
Yknow after many years of watching fudge muppet I think I can finally tell the difference between Scott and Michael’s voices.
Of the 20+ play-throughs & helpful hint vids I've seen in the last 5 days, this vid is the only one that has encouraged surveying. So....good on you.
Not saying this is a super boring play style, but you totally found a gap in the existing play styles that are exciting & sought after.
🎉 Thank you for such great vids year after year after year🎉
KEEP EM COMING!!
This has been like the longest week ever 😫
Thanks so much for this video
Exactly what I was looking for
Great video actually 👌
Dude, super pumped for Starfield but also pumped for the Fudgmuppet crew to have a new playground of this scope to further hone thy craft! Cheers!
Thanks for the *IMPORTANT TIP*. The ocean thing drives me crazy :P
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before!
Couldn't resist 😂

I wish more people understood this aspect of the game and how much it opens up, especially on hard or very hard difficulty. Thanks for the video.
this game really makes me feel like bethesda is gonna be back on track to being one of the best AAA game developers, they actually took the feedback from what people wanted and DID IT. it feels so passionate too, they really cared about this game
Game is unplayable on Xbox x
I wish we had the option to pay for fuel to make it a little more realistic especially if you are a space trucker.
Wait for the mod.
"So many David Attenborough moments..." *pulls out gun*
Great video
We need a way to move around land more quickly. It seems appalling that rovers/vehicles/mounts are nonexistant in a universe/game like this.
Dude that sounds so sick
This guide was very helpful. Thanks mate. 🤙
I'm playing as a explorer and it's so much fun. A whole new side to RPGs.
very cool for different play style
Aliens hunting each other was very cool to see
Whelp, you sold ME. This looks like the most fun build for those of us who are less “murder-y”….
Thank you
I had no idea you could sell the surveys... I've been doing the mission boards for surveying worlds, so I had a bunch of those in my inventory. Btw bonus tip, you can save scum fauna scans in caves with bodies. Scan it, save, reload, and scan again. The body reloads with the cave instances, so you can omit the zoology trait investment this way.
Thank you for this info probably wasted 12 hours not going to the oceans. Thank you Thank you thank you!!!!!!!
I know not part of it but I wonder how many people know that when you lock pick the right combo will change for each stage for instance the layer will change to blue depending on the right combination combos, you also be able to see the lower layers too, just to make lockpicking easier on harder ones
Scott you don't know me but I like you're content
Australia own the bgs space! I’ve been fans of y’all and camelworks since freshman year of college!
I just wish we could have some kind of buggy/rover for planetside exploration.
Maybe as a special "garage" component for ships.
Do you actually need He-3 for fuel to grav jump or is it just fun little lore? I haven't been able to figure it out yet.
I noticed on the [Coast] if you pull up the map the water is completely flat so you can place a marker right next to the water, doesn't stay if you place the marker on the water, and just head that direction
dang, the new Spore update looks really good
Can you do an in depth piloting guide PLEASE. I can’t land wherever I want on plants from the spaceship HUD. I can’t even land on new Atlantis from the space ship HUD. Is that just not available in the game? I also can’t scan and fly to nearby solar systems without either it being part of a quest or going to the star map
I stood and marveled at the giant morels for a good 5 minutes when I first found them
Question for anyone who wants to answer.
What is an easy level cap to shoot for? What i mean is i havent really gotten that far in the game yet, and im just wondering what the average level will be for most people after "beating" the main story. Right now im at level 13 and i just finished the first constellation mission where you go to the sol system with sarah. Just curious what others have to say about this.
I feel like im gonna keep on with my normal playthrough and maybe do ng+ but do the story again just to experience the game again then maybe do a hard playthrough and start all over again. I dont see myself doing too much ng+ cuz I’ll have fun making new builds and starting fresh again. Ng+ sounds way too wild from what ive heard.
They took a lot of inspiration from No Man Sky game.
Would be awesome if you make a video showcase your most special finds ☺
I kind of wanted Zoology, but I was going to put it off. But then I found out if you have it you can have farm animals at your out posts, and I want to have kitted out outposts.
There's already the skill that let's you mind control animals. It would be cool if mods or DLC could let you ride beasts that you control.
Oofta, I explored this one planet that had these super aggressive armored lizard/lion things that were truly amazing and terrifying as they somehow cloaked when motionless and used that against me.
I'm trying 100% a system but one moon says I need to find caesium. I think a message came up about it but I was mid combat and missed it. Any ideas where I should be looking for it on this moon?
Hi there Muppet and community, question! is there a trail bike or hover board of sorts for faster on planet traversing?
just boost pack
@@ieatgluesoyoudonthaveto aww thats sucks but thanks for the reply anyway, fingers crossed for dlc then.
Ya, really disappointed. But that's Bethesda for ya. Definitely going to need mods for future playthroughs.
Building an outpost is such a rabbithole. Oh better go make a 4th base to mine tungsten. Well I might as well make it cool! Oh and I gotta link it together with the others but to do that I need aluminum so gotta make a 5th base
After watching several of your videos I had an epiphany imagine if they did borderlands DLC in the way of Starfield. In regards to the melee combat character you could have the pit fighter from the skyrim mod that is placed in the Starfield universe where your character would come and play to be The Champion of the universe. Or possibly they'll be implementing ground vehicles for planet excavation or scanning imagine turning that into a so-called rat race if you've seen the movie. It could be very well the modern community that creates these as well just some ideas to shoot towards you guys.
I’m not really too sure how much build potential there is in this compared to say, skyrim. So I’m curious to see what you come up with in that regard.
Hey fudge idk if you'll see this or have a real answer. Do you know if when you free land on a planet instead of the premade spots Bethesda has spread out through each planet. Are they RNG? Like when you land that's way does it make the Caves, landmarks, bases, ect procedurally generated like say Deep Rock Galactic where each missions environments is different? Very much the ships landing on surfaces are random but what else?
I'm new lvl 15 i like exploring more than the mission ATM and have made start of a outpost in mursk near jem just slowmotion xp lol i dont even have oitpost or ship building skill yet haha
Man do you guys have a good ship top 5 or something like that coming out soon? I’m about where I want to get my endgame ship and have no idea what brand or what planet to get it from. I’ve been loving my star eagle though but no engine customization sucks.
check out their ship customization guide
@@Snippyyyyeah but it didn’t have late game ship recommendations
We are so back!
Crazy you need a perk just to zoom in on the scanner
Does discovered planets move to NG+ like skills?
One point you did not pick up on is the upgrade of your suit as many locations are either extreme cold or cause radiation now some of those places may not have the animals or plant life but the exploration aspect the upgrades to the suit will be very important to keep you alive longer
I just need to know where to go to fight ships to finish piloting challenges
LOL that planet with Cliff Racers on it...
Argh *immediately leaves video to try decorating my home*
I’m so hyped for this, I ALWAYS wanted a viable pacifist play through in an open world game!
You can use EM weapons to knock enemies out
@@agentnukaz1715full pacifist is impossible
Good luck being an interstellar explorer without harming anything. 😂
This game ain't it... but it's a great gane
One tip to get fauna completion is if you see any caves with fauna in them that you still need to scan, enter/leave the cave over and over until you get 100%. It actually works!
good work, thanks a lot
Did he mention the constallation missions? they are a BIG money early on.
TIP: Grendel with semi-auto and armor piercing rounds. Underrated OP weapon!
I literally got stuck on one survey mission where I needed to find 1 last Fauna and couldn’t find it for the life of me, eventually after a day of searching I just gave up and abandoned the mission
Probably an ocean critter. Need to look there.
Hot take: fetch quests with a scanner filling up a progress bar is not fun gameplay.
Nah modders are going to make this shit lit, like think of anything and there will probably be a mod for it, like a deep sea diver mod, with your ship being converted into a floating ship. like this game has so much possibilities and i cannot wait to get it
Can you guys make an OUTPOST complete guide FUDGEMOPPETS!
Does anyone know a habitable planet with very few flora and fauna to scan? Trying to figure out the fastest habitable planet to scan for the Top of the LIST quest and it just takes sooooo long without any points in the skills and habitable planets having like 5+ different types flora and fauna each.
Edit: as soon as I commented this, I finally found a habitable planet with only 3 flora, 3 fauna, and 7 resources. Andromas III in the Andromas system, between the Nikola and Vega systems, “north west” of Cheyenne system. Super fast to survey completely!
Were those cliff racers?
I still have nightmares about them poking my head, especially when flying.
I made the mistake of trying to mod the cliff racer sound on OpenMW with normal bird noises and ended up with some loud wild dude yelling "AAAAAND THEY JUST GOING AND GOING AND THEY KEEP GOING AND GOING..." As you can guess it scared the piss out of me the first one I got close to lol. After that, the original sound didn't seem so bad.
