    SBR is an awesome beefy little knife. I expect the bigger iteration to be just as good. The action is primo. Pro-tech is the best auto knife company and it's not close. Thx for sharing. I'm def picking it up.

    154cm and protech did some in cpm D2. Been impressed with their s35vn on my sbr so far. Protechs just rock and that sound makes me happy.

    About anodizing. I just recently learned that hard anodizing is totally different from just plain anodizing.
    It’s a lot more $$$ because it penetrates way past the surface and is much tougher and resistant to scratches.

    I agree with you on the clip, it's unfortunate the lanyard hole wins again.

    I know this video is old but I finally was able to get a Rockeye, it should be here in a day or 2, I've been wanting one forever, this will only be my 2nd Protech the other is a Fishscale acid washed Magnacut TR3 and I love it now if I could just get my hands on a Mordax I'll be a happy man

    What criteria (if any) apart from size, weight, and carry profile do you use for determining which knives to make your primary carry’s vs which knives to make your secondary carry’s?

    Steel options for a knife are like the least important factor when it comes to pricing a knife. I find it funny when someone complains or criticizes a knife and it’s price based solely on the blade steel it has. You do know that Medford has 600$ knives in D2 right? And that Chris Reeve Knives which are the pinnacle of production knives are still using S35vn. People can brag all day about their 200$ M390 knife, but the heat treat is poorly done and the edge retention it should have doesn’t exist. I’ll take S35vn done right all day over M390, 20cv, 204p etc.. done poorly. It just makes me laugh how many people fall for the next best super steel to come out when none of them are performing any better than the standard S30v and S35vn on most knives. The only steel on a production knife I’ve seen really last forever edge wise is Maxamet

    • @beardedgear
      @beardedgear  Před 3 lety +1

      I disagree. Yes heat treat is important. But steel matters, and d2 at $600 is unacceptable to me. So is S35VN at $450. I also completely and vehemently disagree that Chris Reeve is the current pinnacle of production lol. That’s nonsense. It’s also foolish to make the argument that you’ll take well heat treated S35VN over poorly heat treated M390 etc. Thats so obvious. What people rarely seem to argue is that they would take S35VN still even if both were properly heat treated. Plenty of knife companies are currently heat treating M390 and other superior steels very well.

    Aren’t you in California? You’re living dangerously with all those illegal autos you own. Hopefully you don’t end up in the slammer. 😂

      @TheBigToe69 Před 3 lety +1

      All those? He has 2, and it’s plenty legal to own it only illegal to carry it in public outside of the house. Btw, you can carry an auto in Commiefornia as long as it’s under 2”.

      @@TheBigToe69 You apparently don’t watch very often. He has quite a few autos with blades over 2 inches. I was actually just busting his chops over it because I know he doesn’t care.
