  • By paying attention to our natural pointing ability and translating that element into slingshot shooting, one can often increase their accuracy- sometimes drastically. We all have the ability to orient our bodies in the space around us without conscious awareness. Take the same principles and apply it to slingshot shooting and you may just be one step closer to increased accuracy. Give it a try and see if it improves your shooting.

Intuitive shooting is so much more enjoyable than aiming! If I wanna be tied to sights, I'll shoot my guns. I try to finish each catapult session with some belt level shots. That is, I'll stand 20-30 feet from the target, raise the slingshot waist high while drawing and fire when I feel I'm on target. You still reference the catapult and bands out of your lower peripheral vision subconsciously and it is amazing how quickly accuracy improves!

great informative video nathan. i'v done intuitive shooting sinse i was about 10 and i'm 25 now so a good 15 years lol, but about 4 months ago i started "aiming" and lining the bands up and my accuracy improved by a mile, but like u say in the video "intuitive" is the best way for hunting as u dont have time to aim lol, i'm still shooting both styles. intuitive when out hunting or doing long distance shooting but lining the bands up when close range target shooting, all the best - john

I have tried to force myself to "aim" and can see the value of doing so. However, i would have to switch hands to line up my dominant eye over my bands and it feels too strange. The increase in close range accuracy is definitely noticeable.

I shoot my air guns, my slingshots intuitively. Reasonably proficient with both. Aiming concept utilizing bands or forks (on slingshots) or precise placement of front and rear sights (on my pellet pistols and rifles) does not seem to produce better results for me. Most of my shooting is between 30 and 45 feet...

Its cold outside between 15-35 degrees depending on the day and i want to get better at shooting. I notice after some time my bads loose there oomph. Should i not practice intuitive shooting in the cold where my thera gold bands will loose there normal shot placement? Im guessing i will teach my self wrong if i try to practice outdoors and then come summer (70-90 degrees) i try to shoot. I know one or to shots wouldn't be too bad but im talking about practicing so 15 plus shots. Should i stick to indoor practice? Thanks

Thank you. I truly appreciate the service you have provided me and the community. I sometimes think I'm clever and make remarks that those who don't know me might not think funny. For this, I am sorry.
I have several of your products, and generally find I'm carrying one of them most of the time.

+Steve Brettell Its all good. We still play with slingshots and we can't be held accountable for acting like children on occassion!
