Watching this cause the shop owner at my bowling alley is Justin Hromek
Great matches! Thanks for uploading!
Mark Williams looks like if Beavis was a real life person. 😳
What was amazing too was the Butch Soper, who usually bowled best on tougher conditions, qualified #2 with a 232 average that week on a high scoring condition. Walter Ray set a record that week with a 238 average. Among the others it shocks me to this day that Hromek only won 3 titles.

I wanted to go to this, but unfortunately, I was scheduled to work. Still have this on tape though.
I feel like I’m watching the masters with these announcers lol
I'm rooting for the guy with more than 2.5 revs.
Did it take place during Christmas? WOW! "Both" tried to give the championship away "twice"! In the end WRW succeeded, lol! Entertaining. Thanks for posting!
Nah, June 8 1996.
Do you have the track triton open from 1997?
the second, semi final, and title matches were tight and exciting
Spoiler Alert. Please watch all of the matches before you read the comments.
I use to bowl against justins parents in the 1970s at rose bowl east in Wichita ks. Justin was only about 5 years old.
Walter Ray Williams Jr and Butch Soper have bowled some tremendous matches
butch soper came through in the clutch in both matches to win the pba national championship

58:15.... : O
WAAAAAAT the impossible just happened!
I know....and it was a MULTI-pin spare too!!!
John McDevitt
I remember seeing that live, and being absolutely stunned. Not only did he miss - he wasn't even close.
Then again, Butch missed a spare by about an arrow a few frames later - and he's a pretty accurate guy. So it was a pretty wild match all around.
Butch missed that spare because the ball slipped out of his hand. So I'll give Butch a pass on that one. But a COMPLETE whiff by WRW on a multi-pin spare is something you'll only see like once every 1,000 years...LOL!
John McDevitt Agreed. He was having a very hard time hanging onto that spare ball. But imagine that - the deadly-accurate, down-and-in guy won the title by covering up the wild shots with a big string of strikes.
Tim Criss needs some anti persprent holy pit stains
