I've worked construction my whole life. And one thing i've learned is quality clothing and boots last longer period. Plus, because Ive spent a little more, I tend to take better care of them and work neater.

You are spot on. First impressions are important and open the door to getting close enough to that person to get the opportunity to judge their character

That's a great message and video.
I wear skinny black/grey/blue jeans most of the time, paired with clean black or white sneakers and some fitting band shirt with occasional band hoodie on top of it (one of those musicians working in IT field. :) ), and what I wear makes me feel so comfortable, I can feel it radiating from me!
I lost 15 kilos since August (diet + workouts), and I will need to get my leather jackets resized, because they are way too loose now. :)

Lady here and I’ll say a man who dresses well and takes care of himself makes him instantly stand out from the crowd. If he can’t even put in the effort to care for himself how much effort will he be willing to put forth to care for a family?

I think the idea of everything being a costume needed to be explored more. He said that a costume is pretending to be something you’re not. I’ve done historical re-enacting (that probably tells you a lot about me right there) so I understand wearing something to portray something you aren’t. I think that’s why a lot of us don’t feel comfortable wearing suits or even trying to look fashionable or stylish. We know we’re not that kind of guy. I’m 55 and still feel like I’m pretending to be a grown up when I’m expected to wear a suit. The same goes for just trying to look “manly”. It’s pretending to be something I’m not so if I were to try to look “hotter” by wearing something other than jeans and a tee, I’d be uncomfortable enough that people could tell I was out of my element.
The same goes for places and activities. I’m uncomfortable in bars or talking about sports. I’m pretending. While so many men i know have motorcycles and they talk about going on weekend rides, for me a weekend ride is on a Trek, not a Harley. I know most of those men see me as not as much of a man because I’m out riding a bicycle, but it’s who I am. I can’t pretend to be something I’m not.

Sorry I'm getting to this a bit late. I agree for the most part. My only comment is that the outward appearance directly represents a person's character. By judging a person's outward appearance you have to apply a character check. A sloppy person probably has a sloppy character. Conversely, a sharp person more than likely has a well rounded and sharp character.

Life is similar like dealing with a trauma scene. I have a "split second" to make my first assessments.
If you are not dressed appropriately for an environment i move on to the next person.
If you are not willing to make an effort in your appearance, why would i expect anything else in the rest of your life.

So, I work from home as a csr. I wear basketball shorts, comfy t shirt and Crocs when I work. Would you say that if I were to dress for work, as if I were going to a workplace with other employees, that may influence my outlook on myself, to be more worthy, or does the comfort factor effect my mindset? Basically, remain comfortable or dress for success, even though I am at home and noone will see me. (Beside daily team zoom meetings)

Are your clothes clean are your clothes comfortable for you and those around you. Layers may be necessary in some climates. Does your dress draw attention yourself? Are you dressed for success? Take your time in the planning. . . Lay it out and get help if you need it. Fashions come and go. Being on time shows respect for others time. Judge them by their results and if they have to cheat they aren't that good. Sharp as a tack and dressed appropriately. Good for you Cary on with your new found projections of speak. . . Look the part no matter what stage you are setting for the world to see. And stay in the asset column?

Price/Cost should be taught as early as possible. For young men AND women. Quality pays dividends above and beyond money “saved” time and again.

Good clothes can be found anywhere, it all depends on your budget. I’ll go to a department store, try on suits, get my dimensions, find what colors that look good on me and buy a higher quality suit for a better price on Amazon. Don’t get me wrong, Amazon isn’t my friend so if it doesn’t work out I return it and don’t think twice. If your on the lower end, raid your father’s or grand-fathers closet. Timeless pieces can also be found at the thrift store in nicer areas. I’m in the middle budget-wise, I will pair a $3 white dress shirt and tie from the thrift store with a $200 blazer and shoes. Its all about Fit! Even expensive clothes can look like crap on people if it’s poorly fit. You have to get this right or don’t buy it. Fit, function, fabric and your body type are things to keep in mind looking for clothes. There is a good channel to follow I’ll post below

Chippewa Boots, Roundhouse Jeans, and Pendleton or Filson. Lasts forever. Otherwise if dressing up, three piece. But seriously, it's not the cloths, it's grooming that my wife noticed and still comments on. Keep your hair and beard clean and in order, nails trimmed and clean. Women love strong even calloused hands, but rough and dry with dirt soaked into the cracks doesn't look or feel good.

There are times you should dress well. A formal event. Like a wedding. But dressing up to go to Lowes is gay. Shouldn't you be dirty. If i have to go to Lowes Im usually already filthy from working on the house. And even more pissed that i have to go to the store. So now im hungry. So i go to burger king with my shitty clothes on. My point is everyone lives different lives. Im a mechanic in a factory. I work in the evenings. So if im not dirty from work. Im in my workout clothes. Go to the gym, run to the store, go to work.
