In Germany, there are thousands of doner/kebab shops run by Turkish people but it is usually very difficult to find a high-quality one.

Yes please! It just looks so good. Where I grew up we had a Turkish restaurant, ironically enough called Istanbul and it was absolutely the best. But people in that town were so plain Jane with their food so it didn't get to stay long because no one appreciated it. They were some of the nicest people I've ever met.
So many great restaurants closed in my area, and yet McDonald's has two drive thru windows open with lines down the street. And it's not even the cost because McDonald's isn't even that cheap.

@@walsertaler that's true, but why do they choose terrible engineered food when they have delicious real food for the same price or even less? Like I could get a pita stuffed with chicken or beef shawarma for $6-7 in the suburbs of Chicago. I've never weighed it, but one of them could keep a big guy like me satisfied for a whole day. And I know the meat quality is good because I know where they get it from. There's no ad powerful enough to influence me to buy a Big Mac over shawarma or any of the countless better options. Even when you put burger vs burger, the better burger chains still end up going out of business when McDonald's is nearby. I just don't get it.

@@NikoBellaKhouf2 I know, it's crazy right? Delicious, nutritious, traditional cuisine? No, I'll take the pink slime, genetically modified, and cancer ridden one please. Like how dumb are people? They're probably the same one's who eat that crap everyday but can't figure out why their health is shot and they can't make it up the stairs. It's why we have such an obesity problem in the U.S., it's why we have kids who are 8 years old, but they weigh what a full grown man does. It's sickening. And I'm not even some food health nut. I really don't think there's anything wrong with the occasional burger and fries, or whatever else you may enjoy, but just like anything, too much is bad. We have a really bad food relationship problem in this country. We don't want a hamburger, we want a triple cheeseburger with bacon on it. We dont want 12oz of soda. Super size it, we need 48oz. It's those sickening practices that have made us so complacent in the decline of our health. There's people in the world who haven't seen a meal in three days and we're throwing half of ours out because were so gluttonous we don't know what a sensible portion is. Sorry to rant, but it's just disgusting. My family does a lot of mission work. Meaning we spend a lot of time in countries affected by hunger, and usually the first time you witness a child with a swollen stomach from starvation and parasite infections, is right about the time you realize just how fucked our way of life is.

I was in Istanbul and tried a huge number of kebab places. I recognize this street. This is one of the most juicy doner with a great spicy taste. Not the best, but you should try guys. In principle, I like the Greek version of sandwiches with meat (gyros) more, but this does not mean that they are worse or better, it's about the spices. At the same time, I admit that Turkish cuisine is in many ways superior to Greek cuisine in terms of the variety of meat dishes.

@@ivanpetrov5185 even if it's not Lamb they use lamb fat ..so the smell gonna be there. Turks love Lamb meat and it's hard to find anything without. Lamb fat is healthy for our heart but people who aren't used to Lamb meat and fat sadly dislike the flavor ...

Istanbul is food heaven, if you love foods (like me😁) have a travel to Istanbul.
minced meat with vegetables ? thats shawarma cheating! It looks good but it's not even practical to cut, coz the meat is minced :D See how he has to be super gentle and using a wooden spoon to support the cut.
there are million better ways how to prep minced meat..this lookslike like a fancy tourist food for me :P
