- Looked for the Kathryn Grayson version and was surprised that it wasn't there. Anyway here is an old videotape recording. Quality not very good but passable (beggars can't be choosers)
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
Ms Grayson was a class act. We don't see that today from our celebrities. She was the epitome of Hollywood beauty, talent and grace.
A Heavenly Voice..An Angel and a Very Beautiful Soul inside and out!!!!!!! Miss you Kathryn!
What a great voice! She will be missed. We have lost so many of these great singers. Today's singers don't have the talents these singers had.
Hope you managed to educate yourself in the past 12 years🤞
@@yardengali I'm sure there are singers today who can deliver a similar performance. But we don't know because they remain unknown. None of the singers who are known and famous today can. If I'm wrong, hurry up and tell me - where can I hear a contemporary (2024) performer who sings so perfectly and beautifully?
Thank you! I think Kathryn Grayson sounds like how a beautiful bird aings
if we could hear it!!! Blessings keep sharing
Sometimes we don't realize how long some of these songs have been around. I remember the 60's version of this song by the platters and didn't realize it had been around in the 30-40's. I have always enjoyed the musical artists of days gone bye. Kathryn Grayson, Deanna Durbin, Judy Garland, Ava Gardner, Harry Belafonte, Bing Crosby, and the list goes on and on........all superstars!
Great song, great singer. Kathryn gives her all to it, and it shows.
Every time I see it I'm reduced to tears. Thank you Kathryn.
Quite simply, the greatest song ever written. The Platters, Connie Boswell, Kathryn Grason, Ray Conniff, Leo Reisman, Artie Shaw, Elsie Carlisle, Paul Whiteman with Bob Lawrence on vocal and dozens of other versions are remarkable because the song is remarkable. Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach wrote this rare, incredible, exceptional song that will live forever.
It’s one of the best renditions I’ve heard and Ms Grayson really invokes emotion in every word, expressions and movement that is perfect for the scene. As for the best song, I know everyone has their all time favorites but mine will Always be Over The Rainbow by Garland especially the times that she sung it after The Wizard of Oz. The Oz version is magnificent but the maturity she brings to the song in her latter years is even more impressive and heartbreaking
Yes, couldn't agree more. Remarkable both melodically and lyrically. They come together in absolute perfection.
Beautifully sung and heartfelt. And she was so incredibly beautiful. When I look at her I think she must have been the inspiration for Disney's "Sleeping Beauty."
This is so great - she was awesome in every way - GREAT singer & GREAT actress - thanks for posting!
Well I am stunned: I never imagined this song being sung like this by this beautiful lady. Thanks for uploading.
Great song by a great actress and singer. The end of the song and the deeply sad look on her face really choked me up.
Incredibly beautiful and a voice to match.
Beautiful song, singer, performance - class .... pure class ....

I truly love Kathryn Grayson's voice and rendition.
I can't stop watching this
Lovely voice. RIP, Kathryn Grayson.
so sorry to hear of her passing....what a voice, and a beauty!!
My favorite rendition of a great song. Thank you so much for posting. Kathryn Grayson does my favorite performance. Heavenly voice. ❤
Kathryn's best, loveliest singing in her films. most exciting, though, was Be My Love with MARIO.
I Miss You Kathryn, So Beautiful !
Kathryn Grayson is usually such a smiley singer, so it was very refreshing to see her give a dramatic performance in which she is not smiling all the way through. her voice is amazing, like a bird's! I love her =D thanks for posting.
This video not only shows off her incredible voice, but her range as an actress.
That voice everyone - not just this excellent version but some of the other incredible stuff that she did. Brilliant!
I'm so glad I came across this. I love her version of this beautiful song. I also loved the scene in that movie where Marge and Gower Champion dance to this song.
They ask me how I knew
My true love was true
I, of course, reply
"Something inside
Cannot be denied"
They said some day you'll find
All who love are blind
When your heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes
So I chaffed them
And I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt
To think they could doubt my love
Yesterday
My love has gone away
I am without my love
Now laughing friends deride
Tears I cannot hide
So I smile and say
"When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes"
But today my love has flown away
I am without
I'm without my love
And now laughing friends deride
Tears I cannot hide
So I smile and say
"When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes"
The lyrics are poetry. Otto Harbach.
It's hard not to watch this over and over.
BEAUTIFUL the songer and the singer. Thanks for posting this.
Kathryn was adorable, and so, so talented!
Hannah Stewart not as adorable as u
I'd never heard her sing this before, but it is a great version. I am a big "Showboat" fan but whatever Ms. Grayson was in, she excelled in it. RIP, Ms. Kathryn Grayson......
What a beautiful, talented and classy lady was Kathryn Grayson. I always try to catch any movie of hers on TV. I am addicted to her performance with Mario Lanza of Love I Is Music, in That Midmight Kiss.
Beautiful...Lovely, just Lovely. GODS gift to the Earth. Bring back the beautiful music.
I cry when I hear this what a song wow
This movie was supposedly for Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and would have gone to Judy Garland and Betty Garrett of Metro didn’t fire Garland. Kathryn Grayson is wonderful in the movie and singing the song but I can only imagine how incredible and awesome it would have been if Garland sang it in her inimitable style. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video! The set and Ms Grayson’s costume here, is beautiful as well as the lady herself. 😊
So was Frank Sinatra and Kathryn Grayson in The Kissing Bandit. It was considered a bomb, but I just watched it. They both sang some beautiful songs. Maybe because Gene Kelly was the star of so many movies they were afraid this would outshine him. They even shelved it for a year. I think Kelly’s movies were overrated. So was his singing. I’ve been watching old movies I’d never seen before, I thought his were a bomb. Heard he was a narcissist.
this is more than good enough - thanks for the memories.
How lucky God is, in heaven, to have this fabulous lady serenade him for eternity...
+The Big Fella: How wonderful your comment is,for an excellent performance!
Hermosa preciosa y linda voz.
That is so beautiful
@@ramfaki1256 that is the most beautiful comment I've ever heard and so very true about her, beautiful girl and beautiful voice xx
I meant the big fella and you xxxx
If anyone ever gets the wild idea that ladies from many decades in the past weren't every bit as stunningly beautiful, (or more so), than young ladies of today, I say, yeah right.
which is prettier this woman or her voice??? 🎤🎶🎤😍
Peter Finkelmeister My father adored her! As do I!
She had the voice of an angel and the beauty that came from heaven!
@@MoonlightNothing my name is Peter Piperman now
@cuneiform100 what the hell are you talking about ❓
@@piper888 I can't tell with my eyes closed whether it is a brunette singing or a blonde
obviously other cultures can. May you remain well in these some what crazy times. (Oceania)
Bravo, Kathryn.
I always thoroughly enjoy your performances.
Truly one of the best.
So beautiful!
She was in a class of her own, so beautifull!
She was a unique Beauty ..!
A beautiful song sung by a beautiful woman.
Thank you for posting this for future generations enjoyment.
Kathryn Grayson’s voice is magical. 🪄✨🌟💎
The film "Lovely to look at" is a remake of "Roberta". The plot is actually dire, illuminated by MGM glitterati. Red Skelton is a gigantic bore (just as he was in "Thousands Cheer"). But one thing is unquestionable; Jerome Kern would have been delighted with performances of Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson, a majestic couple.
Thanks for posting this! Lovely!
She's so blessedly beautiful 😍❤️🌹🔥💯📺🌈🤩 actress 🎬🍿🥤🎥🎭.
how did I not know before seeing this video that Smoke Gets In Your Eyes had origins long before The Platters version. I feel like an idiot. But good, I love that song so now I can sniff out new versions
I believe the original goes back to a 1935 movie sung by actress Irene Dunne. IMHO Grayson's is the best solo version
Surprised me as well.
Irene Dunne sang the original version in the musical Roberta which also starred.....Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
I love this song. Thank you for posting this clip!
Maravilhosa canção, é como eu estivesse vivenciando aquela época.
Muito linda, parabéns por disponibilizar algo dessa qualidade.
Her expression in the beginning, heartbreaking
This video clip shows what is a true strong femininity and this is what it's called a beautiful song.
❤ her voice is no where to be found in today's music
So beautiful both the singing voice and the physical features!
@hajune
"They called her Kathryn the Great, and that she was."
Agreed. I havent seen many of her movis outside of Kiss Me Kate and Showboat but I've always liked her and I am saddened to hear of her passing. RIP Kathryn Grayson.
Thanks for posting this - excellent.
I miss you very much. Your beautiful and so is your lovely voice. Say hey to my Grammy up there!!
very nice post, this version of Smoke gets in your eyes is very romantic ! thanks

I remember watching those musicals starring Kathryn Grayson & Mario Lanza .Those were the good old days. You don't come cross many such classy lady these days.
From the movie "Lovely to Look At". Kathryn Grayson was 30
One of our truly beautiful earthly angelic voices so gifted to hear her
She should have been in a Disney film, a voice fit for a princess x
Thank you for posting this!
This kind of talent and beauty only came to the earth once and then flied back to the heaven...but our remembering of her is eternal.
Lovely
Just lovely - thank you!
She was so pretty! I would definitely sing with her!!!
Thanks. Memories
This is the other half of Mario Lanza's dynamic duo.
THIS IS THE SONG WHICH GOT ME STARTED WITH AMERICAN POPULAR MUSIC 1959 !
This is a beautiful message. I really got chocked up when I read it.
That mix of the voice and her beauty is incredible really speechles ❤️🙏!!!
A real lady of the old Hollywood
I grew up only knowing the Platters' version of this song. Loved it the whole way and always will. Just heard this version for the first time and I really heard the lyrics for the first time. I never really paid attention to all of the words before. Kathryn Grayson just sells it here. I really understand what has happened and the flame of her love has gone out. I just connected better with her touching take on it.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!!
Amazingly photogenic and what a voice!
Fast frequency wobbling on both low and high note. I love it.
One of our truly earthly angel voices x
Не устаю ею любоваться и наслаждаться великолепным пением.
I have the CD with Miss Grayson singing this song, and I listen to it over and over. I LOVE her voice and the song. Though maybe I love the song because it stays in my rang and I can sing along :) Lovely video I enjoyed it very much.
Una de mis canciones favoritas, cantada por mi cantante consentida!!!! gracias por subir canciones con K.Grayson, voz priviligiada,y angelical!!!!
Кэтрин прелесть ! Дуэты с Марио Ланца выше всяких похвал
Kathryn Grayson was indeed a "classic" as well. I love every movie she ever made, I suspect if a reincarnate, this was a time of my past lives.
Che voce..celestiale.....❤che tempi..meravigliosi❤
She sang in the movie
( lovely to look at )
yes she is and lovely to hear as well
Her voice is beautiful, I like how she sings this song. And despite the fidelty not been very good, the quality bursts forth!
My boss at the ABCin Perth in the '70s, had an enormous crush on Kathryn. Here she is for you, John Cahill and RIP
We called her Nanny Kate. She was also my great grandmother
What movie was this from?

There are three things you cannot hide: love, smoke and a man riding a camel.
Old Arabic saying
Ugh I miss Katherine she's my ant I miss her so much. Love you ant sissy
We must be related then! She's my great grandmother :)
The most beautiful face and voice ever to grace the silver screen!
Beautiful

So sad so many of our wonderful talented singers have left us , and now we are left with so called bands with three guitars and no talent.
