  • In this tutorial, our friend Maggie from Paisley and Glue teaches us (and me) the basics of smocking and fabric manipulation. This is a fantastic technique for adding a ton of depth and detail to your projects, and make something truly unique.

@@TockCustom let me explain, I had to take care of my little sister's kids and it seems I've become everyone's aunt and since you had been a success story yourself and the pandemic hit I was worried about you know, but I was corrected and that my concerns were over stated, but with the crazy media hype who really knows.

You can get the elastic thread Saraflex from From Germany and wind in on the bobbin on slowly or you warp it. And you can use it with your sewing machine.

Thank you so much for this vid. I was lucky and found Maggie's book at my library. I just finished my second piece of the braid pattern. I did it out of just a regular weight polyester material and then pressed it flat. My teen loves it and it will be turned into a simple corset for her soon . The first piece I did was out of a pleather material. Turned out amazing , but I will not be doing that thick of material again without having some type of punch tool. I'm tempted to frame the piece and then title it "insanity". Once again thank you, I really look forward to finding ways to incorporate this type of smocking into more projects.
