I am just learning this plus extended harmony.
I play the piano as well as accordion. The ability to learn a bass pattern and be able to move it to any key without changing fingering has the accordion beating the piano hands down! When I first started a master accordionist told me I’d have a bit of a hard time going from controlling dynamics via finger pressure (on the piano) to bellow-based. He told me from the start, “punch those bass buttons and keep them short presses”. This jives with your “no legato” advice. He also told me to keep that bass strap tight… which is great for strolling, but it prevents me from sliding my hand up and down the rows like you do. I’m rethinking that advice now! Your videos like this one are super helpful!
Great advice from that master accordionist in your past. The bass strap can be a little elusive - I think you don't want it so tight that you can't move up and down, but you definitely don't want it too loose. The strap on the accordion I am playing in that video tends to loosen up on me as I play, it is probably a little looser in the video than I'd like it to be.

It’s an SS4 “Ernie Felice” model. But i don’t own it, a very nice friend is loaning it to me while I’m in California.
