- From the years 3E 389 - 399, the evil battlemage Jagar Tharn held Emperor Uriel Septim VII captive in another dimension. During this time, Tharn posed as the true emperor, and ruled over Cyrodiil. How did the villain obtain the necessary power to pull off his scheme? Was the Eternal Champion alone in their quest to deliver justice to the imposter? How far did Tharn's influence spread during his ten-year reign? All of these questions will be answered within.

Man I love your vids ! I just discovered them as playing daggerfall and it is with such courage to get all this work done
While part of me prefers the Eternal Champion also being the hero of Daggerfall, I also heard a theory that the Battle mage after Jagar Tharn, Octano I think was his name, could've been the Eternal Champion...
Dude I’m so happy you’re still doing this series! Keep at it my man.
Fun fact in Skyrim, karliah’s mother is the daughter of queen Barenziah.
yeah, you can tell they made her look more human too
There's irony that her granddaughter became a Nightingale
I wonder if the Imperial Simulacrum was a preparation for the Oblivion Crisis. It has to have weakened the Empire morally, financially and military. And Jagar Tharn was in an alliance with Mehrunes Dagon, as seen in Battle Spire.
Yeah but it was a long time after that when the Oblivion Crisis took place. Tharn didn't really have a role to play in that I think
Fury it definitely contributed to the long term destabilization of the empire and possibly quickened the splitting of the
provinces after oblivion
It could also be possible that the high elves could have been behind it all. The high elves could have been manipulating the events of the imperial simulacrum and Oblivion Crises in order to weaken the empire over a long period of time so they could reform the Aldmeri Dominion and dominate the continent bring back the rule of elves over Tamriel
Seeing as both events had been forseen by the Akaviri centuries in the past, there is a change that one led into the other
FINALLY this is the ONLY es lore series that remains distinctively engaging to watch or listen to in the background.

ITS THE GRAND CHAMPION
so glad you're back
It's actually insane how much lore there is in The Elder Scrolls and how much that can't be known. I never knew a game with thousands of mods could have such deep lore.
I agree, the Elder Scrolls lore is very detailed. The series should be told in other media than just games because there is simply too much lore to be told. The Elder Scrolls series is two decades old and we have only known and introduced into several provinces of Tamriel. There's still other continents with its own cultures and history such as Akavir, Atmora, Yokuda, Pyandonea, etc. And there are other planets and planes of Oblivion still left untouched. I think I'd be a hundred years old before the series run out of things to tell
Elder Scrolls Netflix show maybe? one game per season maybe. or it could be a new thing entirely but still elder scrolls. just hope it includes all of the lore and begins with a stylised version of the dawn era
What the fuck do mods have to do with lore? Why do people just say insane, nonsensical things and act like it makes perfect sense?

@@rezandrarizkyirianto-1933You should read the novels, they’re really good. Also, there’s all the little books in Skyrim that give a lot of information. You can also get them in real life book from, there’s 3 volumes that contain every book in vanilla Skyrim. I find having the actual books to read instead of just reading them in game helps me focus more on the content & retain it better. Hopefully eventually we get more tho, I’d love to see new books & maybe even a show/movie one day.
Honestly, I thought that 11 month gap was because you must've been playing and beating Daggerfall.
Does daggerfall have secrets like later titles?
@@Danleyson1 it is the biggest and most ambitious of all the Es games.
@@dodonnell-ze9yc if you call endless pixels ambitious
@@pickledpeckers7789 endless pixels is funny for some reason. Like we don't say endless polygons idk just made me lol
@@dodonnell-ze9yc Ambitious? Definitely, especially with that story. Biggest only because of procedural generation, which devalues it a bit.
"Ive never heard of Tiber Septim killing a dragon."
"That's because there weren't any dragons then, idiot!"
A city divided into east and west separated by a...wall...does this seem familiar to anybody else.
I'm there on holiday now lol
okay I remember now
Spookles :D what in Berlin or Tamriel
Laverne and Shirley??
I can't wait! I need this, I need it now! Please, I'm begging you, give it to me!
Welcome back buddy! Your videos are the reason I got into The elder scrolls! :D
The Tharn/Dagon conspiracy is the longest sub-plot of TES, and directly contributes to the Oblivion Crisis. There are also arguments for it affecting the Nerevarine Prophecy, and I've heard a few about the Dragon Rising.
Dude got bizay confirmed tho
"King Eadwyre of High Rock"
Shows a picture of King Emeric Cumberland
What happened to the child of Queen Barenziah and Jagar Tharn?
Jagar gets killed in Arena and you meet Barenziah in Morrowind.
@@bebo2629 But what of their child? I must know if they were loved and treated respectfully.
@@alyson2103 I mean, I can't imagine he would be treated very well by his mother. She probably saw him as a reminder of his father and therefore hated him. Poor kid must've had a tough childhood.
I am pretty sure Karliah is the daughter of the child
That daughter would have had to been almost 200 years old
This series is just absolutely amazing! Watching these videos is pure happiness for me!
IT'S BEEN TEN THOUSAND YEARS...
For real though, I subbed to you a little bit before the hiatus started, and to be totally honest sort of forgot - after all you weren't posting and I'd only just subbed. The algorithm decided to put your Khajiit lore vid in my recommended list recently and it inspired me to check the channel again, and clicking the twitter link and seeing you post that you were coming back with a new video in a couple days was an amazing feeling. Keep it up, man.
I'm really glad I got this in my recommendations, look forward to the next part!
Thank you for your hard work , I really appreciate it , keep up the great work !
I NEED MORE !!! I swear your videos are the best, please don't make us wait too long for the next one
Love the way the videos are explained and presented, so glad you're back, bud
Man your videos are so awesome!! You explain everything very clearly and entertaining and the subtitles help a lot. Making an actual video of what you are saying and not just podcasting is god level
Your videos are awesome. I've learned so much and it makes playing ES much more enjoyable now that I know much of the backstory. Keep up the good work.
These are some of the best elder scrolls lore videos i've seen. Cant wait for the next one, keep up the good work!👍
Please never stop making these. You are so good at it and your enthusiasm for the series shines through with every video making them all fantastic. The Real Barenziah (unabridged) is my 2nd favorite book (favorite is The Argonian Account).
Love your videos, glad to see you're still making them.
So glad you're back man!!! Love your series
Your videos are always so good...the way you tell the story is always very interesting, thank you
He returns ! Praise Vivec !
Thank you for coming back to the elder scrolls videos. Love them!!
I want to thank you for the great content. I think you channel has the best TES lore videos on youtube. Alot of times with other channels i get lost and confused, but your video make it alot easier to understand everything. I also quite enjoy the book episodes aswell.
I can't wait for the next lore episode.
Thank you very much. I try very hard with my writing style and visual elements to make the subject easily understandable, and hopefully more interesting.
The next Lore episode is on the way! Editing should begin very soon.
Wow this channel series deserves more attention from TES players. I'm legitimately happy with the efforts that have been put to these videos.
Very thought out and well put together. First time trying your content. I'm a elder scrolls fanboy. This video has made my day.
Im thankful you take the time to apply your story telling talents to this project.
This is great! So glad you are back!
HE'S BACK! AND BETTER THAN BEFORE! I missed you DN. Keep up the good work!
Yo this series is fire, keep it going man!
Man l love your series keep up the good work :D
Great video; an addition to a great series! You should totally do a video on the Dwemer and their disappearance :)
It’s been a while! Great to see you again.
Excellent video! I would just like to add that in the last book of the in game book series The Mystery of Princess Talara,i think volume 5, there is mention that a local conflict between ruling lords in the province of High Rock, prevented the emperor Uriel VII to know of Tharn's treachery earlier thus avoiding the whole simulacrum incident plus all the other wars and conflicts mentioned in your video as well 😁I don't want to spoil the story of the Talara books that is why i am being so vague.. Also that incident mentioned in the Talara book might explain how Eadwear knew of Tharn's treachery beforehand, since he is a Breton.
These videos are A.MA.ZING.
Please keep up the work!
This is the best ES lore series ever, keep it up!
Parabéns mano! Continua fazendo seus vídeos por q são muito bons
Hell yes, welcome back brother!
Great to see you back man
Love this backstory. Thanks!
Glad your back!
I'm so glad you're back.
Amazing. I need more of this
Keep it up I love your videos, I am a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls and love learning more about it
(Edit) Can you do another video on Akavir or another contenent 😀
Please keep doing this series!
Yes!! welcome back
Edit: I was kind of expecting a nod to the Thieves' Guild tradition/story in which the bard Nightingale was not J Tharn but an agent of Nocturnal.
Welcome back dude! 😃
good to have you back.
A video of the Talos is much needed. Regardless I really enjoy the series.
I been waiting for so long
This are my favourite lore vids and I thought u stooped this is so good
Welcome back got to see you after a long time
Yay he's alive!!!
You are back! Yayyy
Lets go! Found your channel 3 days ago and I watched all your lore videos.
edit: Great video!
Ya'll need to get over to his patreon and support him ;) ya get previews for lots of upcoming ones, plus imagine how much more amazing content we'd get by supporting him more. Also it's slightly painful to give 10 quid a month since i just quit my job and am about to start uni :')
The man is back
I squealed when I saw the thumbnail, your videos are awesome!
I'm really loving this series. Its like an abridged version of Zaric Zhakaron's TES Lore series that cuts out a lot of the fat and provides only the basic essentials for anyone wanting to get into the lore and backstory of The Elder Scrolls.
This is easily a preferred starting point for newcomers, and from there, they can go read up on the lore themselves for other miscellaneous events not covered in this series.
I may not watch the Daggerfall video immediately since I'm currently doing my first serious playthrough of the game on Daggerfall Unity. I'll be sure to give it a watch though when I'm finished with Daggerfall's main quest and see how well your plot synopsis holds up.
amazing work as always! Question though why change the name of your youtube channel.. Decadence Night sounded much better IMHO.
Ohhhhh, so damn glad you made another awesome video!
Welcome back so muuuch :3.
Please continue the series 😍
Finally some good content in this site
Welcome back !
seriously, this series is gold
I have waited a year for this moment...it was worth it.
YESS YOU ARE BACK WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So good! I’m on tenterhooks!
Btw the Champion is likely not the Agent, as you get a pregenered backstory determined by class for why you have come to the Emperor's attention in Daggerfall
I'm glad you're ok
Hell yeah! Another one!
Please keep pumping out Elder Scrolls videos
Welcome Back!
OMG YOURE BACK
I thought this channel was a write off. Good to see it's still alive
YES HES BACK
Holy shit dude keep this up
Dude, I had _no_ idea there was so much interesting lore that took place during the TES I/II years.
Yes! Another one!
GODS, I MISSED THIS!!
Tharn or Thorn whatever his name was such a sussy imposter and was among the imperials while they thought he was the emperor but it was The Eternal Champion that got the votes to eject the imposter
Thank you🙏🤓
Do a video on Queen Barenziah please
I love this
We love you!
I'm curious to know what this other dimension was like that the emperor was sent to, and what did he do while he was there? What were his thoughts on the whole thing after he returned?
7:27 We have names such as Jagar Tharn, Uriel Septim, Barenziah... and then we have Justin, just hilarious
The Eternal Champion is **not** the Hero of Daggerfall. This theory is disproved by the "background history" that can be found in the character sheet after you create your character in TES2.
There are many possible backgrounds that the game can generate for the player depending of what you choose during character creation. But all of them describe the defeat of Jagar Tharn as a event you had no involvement with.
I like the theory of Arena and Daggerfall having the same protagonist.
11:10
Damn, she was in for the long con
I like the idea that the Eternal Champion later became the protagonist in Daggerfall, as long as their isn’t any contrary like an old definitive name or something
