This is a revised version of the vocal agility video I made a few months ago. I rearranged the clips into a more organized sequence. I also added some slower runs that showcased her musicianship and ability to improvise using scales outside the conventional major scales in music theory (Jazz, Arabic, Blues etc).
The truth is Sarah is REALLY an agile singer. She is more than just a DECENTLY agile singer. She was ranked by a biased content creator lower than other singers who can't even sing the runs Sarah did in this video. Even VOCAL COACHES who focus mainly on TECHNIQUES praise Sarah’s agility and consider it one of her strengths. The “decent, admirable, untouchable etc.” labels you read online are just invented by fans of diva belters on youtube and NOT really a FORMAL BASIS of a singer’s agility. Without overcomplicating things, Agility alone is different from musicality and creativity. Agility is SIMPLY just the singer’s ability to do FAST vocal runs precisely.
Those who sing know and understand that majority of the runs I presented in this video are far from basic/average. A DIFFICULT and AGILE vocal run is not always a SET of long connected runs. CONSECUTIVE RUNS ARE NOT THE SAME AS AGILE RUNS. A severely agile run can also appear in short runs, and if you are really a singer, you should know that there are also many short agile runs that are harder to execute than other consecutive connected basic runs that use basic repetitive scales. A FAST RUN is A FAST RUN.
Being agile is NOT JUST defined by how a singer overuses his/her runs, nor by doing unnecessary consecutive runs that only negatively affect the interpretation of the story of the song, just for his/her agility to be noticed. It is also NOT JUST defined by just singing a Mariah Carey song exclusively. Every singer has different kinds and STYLES of agility, just like how Mariah’s agility is completely different from Celine Dion’s or Brian McKnight’s is different from Bruno Mars’. Agility is just simply the ability to sing agile runs, and TRUE agile runs, short or long/consecutive, are never basic runs. Always keep in mind that MUSICALITY and CREATIVITY are different and separated from AGILITY alone! MELODICALLY COMPLEX RUNS/SCALES are also different from AGILE RUNS.
You can be AGILE, and have RESTRAINT and CONTROL at the same time. You don't have to riff in every part of the song just to prove you are agile. And if anyone still does not know, Sarah can create her own runs using different studied complex scales because she is a Jazz trained singer. It should not be a surprise anymore that her 18 years of success in the industry gave her the privilege to study more advanced music lessons abroad. You just need common sense to understand that fact.
To anyone who will insist that these are just BASIC runs, I dare you to upload a video of you doing all these runs with the same speed, precision, and accuracy. Prove that majority of these runs are not agile/fast and can be executed easily. If you can’t, then your opinion will always stay INVALID. SARAH GERONIMO'S AGILITY IS MORE THAN JUST DECENT and that's a fact.

*Just wanna say that aside from her rnb-ish agility, her nasal r&b tone is also very similar to Beyonce's, Mariah's, Rihanna's, Brandy's, and Christina Milian's. She can definitely shift to R&B full-time, and still be as equally successful as she is today.

When she does stripped down version, acoustic, or reinvent a new sound of any of her original songs, her runs and riffs prove her wide musicality. Also, they always sound on point, properly executed and appropriately added to the song.
I agree with you. Other than her amazing musicality, I have also noticed that her vocal dynamics is another factor that made her runs unique. She still plays with and manipulates the volume of her voice while doing runs and that is something I don't hear a lot from typical local singers. There are many agile singers here, but a lot of them tend to sound the same, monotonous and out of place.
What about special of her agility was she can do soft thick sexy and jazzy and soul arabic style very smart it comes to artistic and musicality...

I just didn't include it because I can't really find a good quality audio of it. The one I used in the 1st video was modified into a portamento run. But yeah, that short legato jazz run in the climax alone, is really hard to execute. Legato runs are already hard to hit. The confusing jazz scale even made it harder.
