Love bag balm for chapped hands and rough feet. Hope the snakes like it as much as I do.

They look soooo good, the one your handling at 3:46 kinda looks like a stormtrooper with reduced pattern, maybe you could even name him/her Stormtrooper, I think that would suit her/him

I've always heard to keep scale-less on damp paper towels, and just make sure it stay damp.
also that after they get going eating wise they shed nearly every week, but i have never dug deep into scale less bp's husbandry

Yep that will work for the huming the skin but the scent will cause him to smell wrong to self and other snakes. Just use unscented. Scent is sight and light to snake, this area like a human wouldnt want dont make a mistake. Its like holding back at scent school. Know and be known as your smell has shown.

Congrats on the cool clutch and finally hitting those Scaleless snakes! I watched this video yesterday and it got me thinking, probably not the best idea to use Bagbalm on your snakes. For one it's a greasy mess, you will spend hours trying to clean that stuff off of your snakes, tubs, and snake rack, believe it or not from talking to guys who have some good experience with scaleless they say you shouldn't use anything but water. Keep them bone dry when they aren't in shed, they don't have belly scales so being wet all of the time isn't good for them and when they are about to shed spray them down with water (right before they shed )and they will do great. Bagblam has too many ingredients that smell weird too I used to use that stuff on animal tits when I was going up on my family farm, it smells like eucalyptus trees, I doubt the snakes like smelling it or having grease all over them. Hope you don't think I'm trying to attack you Chris I'm just trying to help bud. I know you know a lot about animal husbandry so absolutely no disrespect intended at all.

Hope the plastic chemical smell you mentioned bag balm has isn't going to cause a respiratory infection or eye problems. Being you rubbed it on the nose & eyes. Don't know if it dissolves safely also when they take a drink of water & ingest it?! Hopefully all goes well with your scaleless snakes. Their delicate enough as it is. Like you said people wouldn't let you hold theirs. There has got to be a safer lotion or ointment solution that's ingestable safe & vaporless like vitamin E or something Chris. I'd be cautious & research something less chemical plastic medical smelling.

We only used bag balm for our Angus cows sun burned utter bags that were raw chapped & cracked sore. I believe a clear yellow gel vitamin 'E' human capsule cut open would be much safer...

The Scaleless hatchling is beautiful. I want to learn how to identify the morphs in a snake like this. Besides using the Bag Balm, what other husbandry should an owner provide to keep the snake healthy and comfortable?

The "normal " scale less is amazing looking! Are their different care or conditions needed to keep a scale less vs scales?

Amazing how the Scaleless looks so very much like a super Enchi. Not even the same markings as the wild type. How is the tiny little twin with the kinked neck doing?

Bag balm for "cows" sore sunburned, chapped, raw cracked utter bag. It's a medical ointment that has a strong chemical plastic smell like he said. Sure use it on a tortoise they have armor. But a snake with a thin layer of one skin & no scales, NO way man! Use a human vitamin 'E' clear yellow gel capsule. You know the kind safe to ingest?! As those snakes are breathing those vapors like Vic's under your nose & have it all over their face & eyes. & will drink water with diluting those medical chemical elements in it. I left these warning comments to Chris also. Hope he washes it off his snakes & goes with vitamin 'E' gel capsules cut open.

As cool as they are I can't bring myself to get a scaleless. I feel like the scales provide protection that without it would see the snake easily injured. But they are cool and I would love to hold one.

You're forgetting that you keep them in a controlled environment. Should be no problem

    • @pvpperdogs

They are just much more delicate. In terms of husbandry it's the same, you just have to be careful and also be sure to keep humidity high because they are prone to dehydration.

Do these snakes stay in the plastic totes 24/7 or go to a larger enclosure?

    • @gaelenspirko2527
      @gaelenspirko2527 Před 2 lety +1

they stay in plastic totes they thrive a lot better and it is easier to maintain humidity and temperatures in a smaller environment when you use large glass terrariums it is almost impossible to keep their temperature and humidity levels where they need to be and they also can feel very scared most of the time where they are found in Africa they're always under rocks and buried under trees they never find them out in the open except at night time and even that is very rare they tend to just sit at the edge of their hole and wait for something to walk by thats size appropriate. if you have just a couple of pet snakes you can make them get comfortable in large glass and closures but not all snakes every snake has a different personality some can deal with it others can't

I can't help wonder if the Bag Balm would be good for All snakes that are going into shed.. it's great stuff, I use it like Neosporin and I swear by it.. but yeah, I might try it on my snake(s).. I can see why these scaleless benefit from it. Thanks for the tip...
