His early pace was very slow which is OK if he haven't driven for a while, but as he tried going faster he first accidentally turned on the windscreen wiper and made a bunch of stupid mistakes going wide in every odd turn. He is surely not the worst driver ever, but he wasn't in full control of the car here and surely didn't had the common language with the co-driver. The co-driver is just awful, repeating all his calls and calling them too late as well. Gave Samir like 2 seconds notice before a sharp right at one point
Sorry no, that's not how this works. Rally races can be long and arduous and if you aren't up to the task then you shouldn't be doing it. The co-pilot's job is to help the driver navigate, but the driver HAS to be willing to listen, otherwise it won't work. Skilled drivers can multitask, understanding the track, conditions of the vehicle, and listen to their navigator. @@BenMcKenn He only repated the calls that Samir missed or wasn't listening to, and was only late because Samir missed the other calls or he was trying to correct Samir for not listening to the previous calls.

I've been in both positions of driver and co-driver as an amateur in a few rallies. From what I can make out, there are a few notes I'd like to make on the video. 1. Even if they are not professionals, even if this is usually a matter of preference, there is not enough differentiation between the calls. 2. The co-driver is way too noisy, calls stuff like "throttle", "you can do this", "turn in" and sounds constantly freaked out. His job is to give enough information to the driver to do his job, which is to get the car through the stage as fast as he can. DO NOT tell him how to drive. If he believes he shout "throttle!" or "don't slow down!", he should notify the driver about what he should accelarate towards, like "exit tree on left", "exit towards pillar / windmill" so the driver knows when to floor it. The landscape is already too vague and the road hard to distiguish at times. 3. The driver is not bad at all. Fights with understeer quite a bit but given he's driving an Evo X I do not blame him. The co-driver makes it look way more dramatic than it actually is. 4. Is that a hydraulic handbrake I see there? Give it a go, those "SHARP RIGHT!" and "SHARP LEFT!" would be easier with some practice. All in all, it was an enjoyable drive. Could be even better without the constant shouting.
I’ve never been in either position but I adore driving, I really love it, and I had exactly the same conclusion. Which makes me think I may not be such a terrible racing driver after all lol
It was about 15 minutes in Samir had had enough, and it was at this time that things got interesting. Now I’m invested “Common Sammy, you can do this!!!”

@@billywashere6965 It is not the job of the co-driver to nag the driver about driving too slow. It's not his job to say anything that isn't in the notes. He is not supposed to comment on the driving performance whatsoever, he is supposed to talk about the track.
so some interesting facts: This was Samir’s first rally race in 10 years. The viral video was edited down from this and the co-driver sued the manager, Yohann Setna, who made this and Setna was arrested afterwards.
The driver was very experienced, just recovering from a injury. The real problem here is the co-driver, he constantly repeats call outs, both misleading and annoying. There wasn’t a consistent rhythm between his calls so the driver has to guess when the turn is coming. Annnnd the overreaction whenever the driver makes a mistake isn’t very professional to say the least, you’re supposed to be his partner not his mum.

so some interesting facts:
This was Samir’s first rally race in 10 years.
The viral video was edited down from this and the co-driver sued the manager, Yohann Setna, who made this and Setna was arrested afterwards.
Please make more videos with your co-driver, this is automotive comedy!
thank you for uploading samir. ur th best!
17:23 finally appreciated

Sharp left. Sharp left! SHARP LEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst chemistry between a rally driver and a co driver. He's learning but I feel that he is nervous or intimidated by many things of being in a rally.
He's definitely nervous but the co-driver is making it worse
The driver is expierenced, but he hasnt been doing it for a long time
Eeh, shaddap
The has been doing it since 1992...
Samir I watched you small trap and came for this and was not disappointed you are a helluva driver dude plus you co-driver is awesome!!!!
I love how he always tells Samir "you can do this."
he is a good driver. Sure, he wont win the WRC but he is good
This is how he will climb ladder perfecting himself and participating one day in wrc too!!!!

The highlights of the video 😂
I think 18:29 is also pretty nice. I love the way the co-driver says "throttle, throttle, throttle. Throttle".
@@blitzspitz haha you are again here after A MONTH! This video doesn't get old I guess
Oh, and also 20:41
I'm back again and I have more highlights: 11:30 Double- Triple caution, triple caution, triple caution; 13:05 GO THROTTLE! THROTTLE!; 16:55 Very long, very long, very long. I think that should be pretty much everything.
One of the immortal CZcams videos
Every now and then I come and watch this video. Samir, you a god.
Start: you good? You got this baba
End: FACKING HELL SAMIR I BEG YOU
This instructors voice should be in DIRT
This is what inspired one of the best rally drivers out there. Samir the pioneer in rally
I wanna be as confident as samir in life...
22:07 He was even hyperventilating
The co-driver or Samir?
@@blitzspitz co-driver. To be fair he barely took any breaths the whole race.
@@Frabjous1 When you almost see your driver run a poor bystander over, I can understand why.
