  • Another full-cycle GoPro video, this time in the Shacklock (Fisher & Paykel) Gentle Annie washer. There were a few moments where the GoPro flipped over from being weakly attached to the tub, but the footage was really outstanding!

    I notice the Agitator moves quite a bit during the spin. I wonder how the washer engages the drum or wash basket than the newer ones

    • @PracticalCat
      @PracticalCat Před rokem +2

      This model has a finger coupled to the wash basket and a finger coupled to the agitator shaft. It can agitate 360 degrees before both fingers hit. So when in spin mode the agitator turns in one direction and takes the basket with it.
      The newer smart drive models have a dog clutch with multiple teeth. When the machine is full of water the whole wash basket floats up and disengages the agitator from the basketnso it can agitate. When the mahine drains the basket drops back down and the agitator engages with the basket again so the whole thing can spin. Its very clever.

      @@grnappliance7297The UK has never had top loaders due to people there not having the space for them, and also the safety concerns. Front loaders are also preferred due to their superior wash performance (Although I'd say the SmartDrive series arguably did just as good of a job, maybe even better). Fisher and Paykel also only sold their top load machines in New Zealand, Australia, USA and Canada.
