I feel so unimportant when I play this in class 😂 Especially because I'm the only French Horn player and this is my first year playing any instrument. But I'm learning quick!
i’m playing sleigh ride for the winter concert this year and my band director purposely chose a reiteration of it that isn’t just up beats. We actually get the melody for part of the song. god bless her lmao
ugh youre so lucky. we are playing it for our concert and both pages are just wait honk wait honk wait honk wait honk and you cant even space out during it 😭
I’m sure Leroy Anderson is a perfectly fine man. But I hate him with an inexplicable passion for what he created and I’ve changed my mind he isn’t a perfectly fine man, he’s a devil man.
My band never plays good Christmas music. We always get some like remix of five different Christmas songs. For every different piece. They all sound the same.
I'm playing tuba on this song this year, i hated it at first but it's super fun once i got into it. it gives me a break to listen to everyone else and mindlessly play
I went to a band concert last night and they played sleigh bells and the horns were definitely playing the melody, so I think the teacher chose an iteration where the horns actually played
we wish. on the bright side, now that we’ve done that concert there’s two things 1) my band gets to (hopefully) play imaginarium for our contest 2) one step closer to marching season babyy
We played this for our high school Christmas concert last year, i had the sleigh bells. Just imagine constantly smacking your hand into a hard wooden handle every single beat for a hundred something measures. My hand was absolutely murdered.
I played it as mine this year I didn’t get to play anything in sleigh ride we have to many in percussion for all the songs we did I got one part out of all three songs
bruh we’re doing this for our winter concert and as a 1st violin, i will gladly trade with u lolll we’re playing essentially the whole time in such high positions and the runs are not as enjoyable as they sound >:| that part u played is fun tho haha :))
I wish we could play this, at least there’s another first horn so we can cover each other when one of us starts dying 😭 So far the only song I hate more is Bugler’s Holiday, the trumpet part in that is fun but the horn part is offbeat hell 💀
There are 5 valve horns that are not triples, for example some horns have what’s called a “stopping” valve so that you can play stopped horn without having to change fingerings. Used triples are usually between 10,000-14,000 usd, and new ones are between 17,000-21,000
I think its about the shape of the embrochure, you change it going down so you should change it going up too right? For me pulling my chin down helps. Also you just need blocks of muscle on you cheek
@@aedanplayz6597 could depend person but for me yeah bunching your chin is always bad unless your going for low notes, happened to me too. The goal is to have a good buzz for little air, or that you need a circular-ish embrochure, and if you move you chin up, it squishes the circle into a bean
My director makes us play it every year 🥲but luckily we have a slightly more interesting version of it this year. but it’s still *half half half half half half half half*. And in cut time 🥲

You might’ve been hearing alto saxophone
I remember copying this song for my the band and seeing the horn part. Makes me feel a bit better about the typical low brass parts
Yay! My band just handed out sleigh ride parts and i realized it was two hundred measures of upbeats, so im stoked to play this instead
oh thats a funny dream honey,
*now go back to your upbeats.*
ty so much for this transcription
I’m so excited to try this
I wish we had this part instead of the FREAKIN OFF BEATS 😭😭😭😭😭
That leap gave me crazy polar express vibes
We’re currently playing sleigh Ride in band! There’s this jazzy part in section F(?) it’s so beautiful!
Oh my gosh this is SOOOO much more fun than off beat notes
Thats amazingly beautifull!!
Sending this to my band teacher immediately
Good thing this is the part in the brass band arrangement
we wish. on the bright side, now that we’ve done that concert there’s two things

My senior year I was bored of all of the upbeats so I read off the Alto Sax 1 player next to me during the concert. Much more fun!
In the band I’m in, horns never get the melody 😭
thank you for playing horn and taking one for the team
That’s one of my favorite parts to play!
Playing this on Monday for my concert. I can relate to this as I play tenor sax. 🥲
You cannot take that from us
Day of the concert and were playing slay ride like every year because we always beg to play it
Puttin’ this on repeat!
band horns up! *crack* beautiful phrase
i convinced my director at my high school to let the horns play this part, cant wait for the concert soon
Video?
That's so high I could never lol
Sleigh Ride ❤️
one of my favorite songs to play on the tuba
Saxophone players not knowing any note below Bb: do you hate me
Cries in bari sax

Pros of playing woodwind
Man I miss playing the horn, I was terrible but those 4 years in hs were fun af
Watching this when I’m about to play sleigh Ride at my concert.
That moment you realize you play trumpet
Funniest thing is that I’m playing sleigh ride for band this year
lol i have to play bassoon part on horn sometimes so i get a little bit of melody here and there
Played this Fri and yesterday, wish i had seen this. Maybe next year i steal a trumpet part.
That’s the best part of the song
My band director also said we were gonna pause a song with a horn solo (it was mine) so I guess that breaks even.
It’s my first winter playing horn and gosh the constant upbeats are impossibly boring
THATS SOS HARD
I played that song in my concert like 2 week ago and it sounded awesome
I play double french horn and i play this part in my schools band class.
This looks so fun
I need that tone
omg french horns are so quiet in my band
People: if you need constant upbeats, move it around the instruments just a little. Please.
Great...now to it In dminor
I always loved this part in sleigh ride, it's a shame we middle school band casuals don't get to play it
Why is this personalized so perfectly?
already December and all my short sounds Christmas
Let the clarinets have the part😭 although horn sounds beautiful on it- clarinet player
I am playing three different things by Leroy Anderson right now; sleigh ride, buglers holiday, and blue tango. All of the horn parts are so stupid.
It's called "tuned percussion."
Hmm... so you're saying that Leroy Anderson was wrong and should have written that line for the horn?!
Man i wish i had this, i only have b flat and c for 160 measures, even better, its all upbeats
sleigh ride is actually in cut time 😭
Im a horn and were also playing sleigh ride in our band and everyone hates it
I wish we could get that but all we get are up-beats 😢
love it i'm Horn player to 🤙

that part u played is fun tho haha :))
This is an alternate part to what horns usually play in this part of the piece, which is just constant upbeats 💀
@@barnowl6752 really? i didn’t know that, we haven’t practiced with the band yet

Well I play the saxophone
But I’m a “horn” in orchestra
Band isn’t a problem for me, or the horns (there are none)
Bruh I wish, a total of what? 5 down beats that whole piece? If even that many
Why 250 bpm at 4/4 instead of 125 bpm at cut time?
Wow I’m amazed! If y’all ain’t subscribed subscribe!
What they said ⬆️
How dare u not put it in cut time
It’s because I don’t respect Sleigh Ride
@@ScottLegerHorn thats illegal 🤣

My double horn first valve is so slow I can't play eighth notes, it's so bad I lost a solo to someone who can't even play a high f. Help anyone?
Uh, take it to a repair place? There's an outside chance it's bent somewhere. Also have them teach you how to lube it.

Omg honestly though the French horn would’ve sounded a lot better versus the string section in Sleigh Ride. Just sayin. That horn was smooth!!
Do trumpet 🎺
just transcribe it yourself
how do I expand my range, my tone also sounds bad when I play high e or above 💀
