The locking hitch is what we call an axe knot. Take a heavy strain and you will need to cut it off the cleat. 3 to 4 turns then flemish the remaining line.
It all depends on your tonnage,rope size,cleat size and type , situation and MOST importantly. Your experience. Provided it does what you needed it to the rest doesn’t matter. Very few things are right/wrong, black or white

Nope. Full loop first, and then figure of eight.
There are a couple issues with that. Check out my other videos "how to tie a cleat" - explaining why
full loop first - has the risk of having too much friction and pressure, so you have severe problem to get it loose.
