Great video! phthalo blue is my warm blue on my palette. I love the tinting strength of phthalo blue, there's no fooling around, straight to the point!

I use phthalo green and alizarin or quinacridone magenta to make beautiful purples. Using a palette knife to do color swatches is so much easier than using a brush because it cleans up with just a swipe.

Phthalos are industrial pigments. 50 ml mixed with a litre of titanium white and you have a beautiful bright green or bright blue car,
easy to find in a parking lot dominated by subdued hues and white.

Great information and demonstration, thank you. I will be interested to see how it looks in your paintings. I have always thought your ocean colors were perfect.

I find this really satisfying, the way you explain everything, the movement of your hand. This is cool. Happy father's day by the way, hugs from Mexico.

Thanks Grethe! I tested the phthalo green outdoors and it looks like the viridian might be better for seascapes. Just posted a video about it. 😊

Grumbacher are the absolute worst ‘artist quality’ paints I’ve ever used. They have the worst texture, poor pigment load and I think have a lot of fillers

Interesting. What are your favorite paint brands?

When I first started painting I used Winsor and Newton, and I still really like their paint and have a couple tubes of theirs. However, Winsor and Newton doesn’t have the best pigment load, and separates easily. For the most part I use Gamblin and Williamsburg.
