Hello all! So some have commented that some of the background information about Mercury’s classical training is not entirely accurate, I may have gotten a faulty source for that information. My sincere apologies, I will look deeper into the issue and make corrections if needed, in the mend time thank you for tuning into the rest of the video and I hope you enjoy it! Much love. I am far from perfect, but I do deeply respect every musician I talk about on this channel!

You a great job, it is clear that you do some research. The problem is there are a lot wrong information available. People assume Freddie was vocally trained, because he uses chiaroscuro naturally, that is not something you will really hear with a lot of contemporary singers, his pronunciation was also very clear. Because of these details people just assumed he was classically trained. It is far more likely that he just grew up singing along to some opera records. Freddie Mercury could really change and modify his voice and style, he sang practically any genre from heavy metal, to soul, jazz and gospel and even some vaudeville. There was a rumour that Montserrat might have given Freddie some vocal tips.
Please check out, The Golden Boy - Montserrat Caballe and Freddie Mercury at La Nit 1988.

Yes...your information should be checked through several sources...Freddie did not receive voice training ..also some people watch the movie and believe everything in it..it’s full of inaccuracies..and timelines were switched around...people really need to watch Freddie’s interviews to know what he was like...the documentary of the making of the song “One Vision” shows how the band works together...by the way, in my opinion your assessment of the song should be left until the end..stopping and starting spoils the flow of this wonderful performance...thinking of Ukraine 🇮🇪🇪🇺🇺🇦..ní neart go cur le chéile ❤️

@@josephinemonahan915 Thank you for recommending that documentary! I am hoping to do a redo of this video in the future with more accurate info, I for sure worked hard to try and find good sources...but sometimes even after doing that I can miss the mark and make mistakes! Our opera company attached to this account is doing a benefit for Ukraine right now so we have them in our thoughts as well! Thank you for checking out the video and for giving your honest feedback! I will keep it in mind for the future! Much love!

Freddie’s favorite opera singer was Montserrat!! When Barcelona was announced as the host city for the 1992 Olympic Games it was to be the Games theme song! Sadly, Freddie died in 1991. Freddie was a piano prodigy at Boarding School in India. According to Freddie’s aunt he could hear a song once then play it on the piano! Freddie never had vocal training but Montserrat did have his voice analyzed and it was determined to be baritone!

Montserrat asked Freddie to sing the song at the Olympics in 1992 and Freddie had just been diagnosed with AIDS and his new opera friend was one of the first to learn of his diagnosis. He wanted Montse to know he would not be alive in 1992 and told her if she didn't want to sing with him, he would understand. She took his hand and told him she thought he was amazing and then they sang on.

I've been watching this video over and over, for years, and it still makes me cry Every single time. The juxtaposition of styles is blended so well that i don't think it could have worked better with any other two artists. Freddie's raw rock vocals blends perfectly with the flawless, silky smooth, rounded voice of Mme Caballe.
    R.I.P. to two masterful artists.

This was very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing! With respect - history on the song and collaboration in this reaction seem a bit off compared to all the accounts already out there (I spent way too much time on the entire Barcelona album and related videos during shutdown), but nice to see you reacting to this beautiful performance. In one documentary I watched, Montserrat explained that her brother suggested reaching out to Mercury about creating a song/duet to submit for the Barcelona Olympics because, Mercury, when asking during a televison interview who his favorite singer was, declared it was Montserrat. Mercury, from all accounts, did not chase her but responded immediately when told she wanted to meet him. He flew to Spain with Mike Moran, the co-composer of the song. What a wonderful connection.

Awesome analysis and reaction! Have listened to the whole album they did together? It is amazing, most people enjoy the song, The Golden Boy, the most from their collaboration. The background vocals or harmony is Freddie Mercury, he never had a vocal lessons, but he always loved opera. Of course the song also shows what a masterful composer he was, he and Mike Moran work out all of their parts perfectly, the orchestra was actually synths that he and Moran programmed. The whole Barcelona album is an mazing masterpiece, there is one song where Freddie tried a more opera style, Montserrat encouraged him to do it, she also had the opportunity to write the lyrics of that same song, Ensueno.
I suggest you check out The Golden Boy - Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe at La Nit 1988 (this really great to see how much Montserrat seems to be enjoying herself on stage in this song, slightly out of her comfort zone) and Ensueno - Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe.
Montserrat loved the project because it gave her a lot of freedom to improvise, in her days there were not many opera singer who had the chance to write their own lyrics and do a little bit of their own thing. Their collaboration was perfect, I don't think the combination of opera and contemporary music has ever been done better.

I sure would be WONDERFUL if you could react to other songs from this same Barcelona album...
My favorite of the three songs that Freddie & Montsie performed live at La Nit, is:
    "THE GOLDEN BOY"
    (Part opera/Part gospel)
ALSO TRULY AMAZING, is the demo track:
    "EXERCISES IN FREE LOVE"
(Freddie recorded himself singing Montserrat's SOPRANO piece in this song as an example for her to hear.)
    AND:
    "ENSUENO"
(The finished version after Freddie's demo, a duet w Montsie singing soprano - of course - and Freddie singing operatic baritone, which Montsie convinced him to do, I think.)

As a pupil in Bombay (India) he was part of a choir and learned the piano at the age of 9 as well. While he was still in boarding school, he was already member of the group "The Hectitcs". But I am not sure how "professionally" the training was back then!? :)

No word of a lie, this song was instrumental (ha!) in me moving to Barcelona. It still astounds me to this day that we got this astonishing collaboration between two such influential and talented artists. The city absolutely adores this song too, when the Font Màgica is running it's the song they use to cap off the performance.

    How prophetic...!

Freddie was also a natural baritone, but mostly sang in the tenor range. No formal training, just amazing talent. Definitely recommend The Golden Boy! As well as any live performances by Queen. Legendary! Who Wants to Live Forever, live at Wembley ‘86 or in Budapest, Somebody to Love and Save Me, live in Montreal, Live Aid (performed against Dr orders due to severed throat infection)… the list goes on and on…💛

😅Freddie had the insight to create something fanominal and saw the chance, with his idol Monserrat Caballe. It came to fruition as Freddie persued the possibility. He wrote most of the music with Mike Moran. This was a musical marriage that took time to create, but so epically worth it. It was Freddie's dream before he died and it was fulfilled.

great reaction, thank you for the interesting and useful information, for a non-singer like myself I like it! My pet peeve with some reactors is they will stop in the middle of an amazing musical segment and say something stupid like "what I really want to know is where to get a shirt like that or whatever" and say nothing about the music. I will immediately stop and leave and am totally unforgiving and right or wrong will never watch anything they do again. Anyway, have a great day!

I like the fact that La Superba only became famous cause she spontaneous replaced Marilyn Horne (as a Mezzosoprano) in New York at Carnegie Hall cause she was ill. It was in 1965 Donizettis "Lucretia Borgia". I recommend a 7 Minute track of this wunderful piece of music. For her Performance she got 20 min standing ovations: czcams.com/video/EdyDoogtmnE/video.html
Her floating pianissimo in the high pitches gives me tears in my eyes while I'm smiling. Everytime. As a rock and metal person.
May they rest in peace. "Friends until the end. VIVA!"

Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend Cecilia!! ...You are so beautifull!!...If you decide to react to famous singers videos in the future, here you have your best gift of your life!!....Today it is very difficult to find reactors like you who have never reacted to the best singer in the world, Dimash Kudaibergen, who has 7 octaves and 3 semitones vocal range (An alien) ... Maybe someone made you a request to react to Dimash, but you have not had time .... I am going to dare to recommend that you meet Dimash, because when you do it for the first time, your life as reactor will change forever ....For example, the number of views that you have today, it will increase by 300% in a matter of a few hours and you will get a lot of new subscribers.....But when you react to Dimash, don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did Dimash from the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one.... You can also start with the other famous live version of that song that Dimash did the following year 2018 when he was invited to the famous Slavic Bazzar festival in Belarus .... Both performances are from another planet...And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they suck!...Your life will never be the same again, after reacting for the first time to Dimash...And your first reaction to Dimash will be something very special, so I recommend that you do the best job of your life as a reactor, because that first video will be seen by thousands of people around the world, maybe millions...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....czcams.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/video.html
