Wow, Skunks are definitely much more agile and capable than most people think. We see them sort of waddling around and low to the ground, like you, I know better. Also with my honey bee hives, skunks often push out the entry reducer at night and wait for the bees to come out and then the skunk stands on its hind legs with forepaws just shoveling the honey bees in. I'm trying to get video of that activity, but unfortunately, the skunks have moved on. Benefit though, is that they also dig out ground wasps which I like. It's a toss up. But when it comes to protecting your chickens, game on. Thanks for sharing!
The activist-haters don't seem to understand that eggs are a renewable resource. He could get hundreds of meals out of that one chicken. That's as "green" and "animal-friendly" as you can get naturally. (And don't try to suggest you can be vegan "naturally" because you can't. A vegan diet MUST be artificially supplemented.)
I loved that you Graphically showed the dead chicken that was slaughtered by the skunk... brings a little bit of realism to the delicate sheltered iphone users that think their food magically appears at the supermarket... its a shame you didn't have a high quality video (with sound) of the skunk attacking the chicken... could have played it as an intro to all your videos and see how many bleeding heart sheeple would change their tune from protecting the skunks/rats, to yelling at you to stop them quicker... Great Video, ty
Shawn dont feel bad for putting up these trapping videos. Even if people disagree with trapping animals, they cannot disagree that these videos are educational and instructional and help people with pest problems
Only idiots who don't raise their own food would hate these videos, Shawn. I lost my show bird and 2 best layers to a persistent, brazen skunk. Death to chicken killers! And keep up the great work finding the best, most effective traps. I really appreciate these videos.
Mr Shawn Woods. If people don't like what you're doing, tell them to go to H--ll. I like what you're doing. You put out some great how-to videos. All people need to know how, and what to trap for food. They all need to know how and why traps are made and from what materials to use. You cover all this in your videos. You're doing a fine job. Thank you for your time in the production of these educational videos. Have a great night.
I heard your comment about people complaining when you kill an animal but 90% of those people live in the city and probably don't have to deal with predators so keep on killing brother
Well, most likely not, the skunk has sort of a bladder that holds its spray, and it has to squeeze the bladder to spray. Unlike humans with bowels, death itself will not cause any discharge. Unless for example you ran one over with a car, then the weight of the car would force the bladder to spray. Likely if this is done right the skunks neck or spinal cord may be broken or damaged. If this is not the case then the skunk likely saw no use in spraying as the observed threat was from above not behind.
I hate that people are so mean to you and give you hate, if they don't like the fact you protect you food sources with cool traps like this one then they shouldn't watch it. Also I love your content :D
Hate? I love these. Important to know skills for protecting livestock, even family. Sharing information is a great way to maintain independence. Thank you!
No room for bleeding heart types. You are teaching survival skills NOT getting your jollies killing things. These types will be the drastic human preditorss that will do anything to not face starvation....the worst demise imaginable. Thanx for being there! TDH
keep the videos coming Shawn. I've learned so much from you tutorials. The information you bring to life is truly becoming s lost art. Keep it alive, brother and thanks again.
Love the videos. My dad was into trapping and survival methods when he was young but never was able to teach me or continue it. Life just gets too busy sometimes. So I really enjoy having your channel to watch and learn from.
Hey man great videos , screw all the haters. Your not doing this as a sport , its protecting your assets , property an livestock. I've built quite a few deadfalls back in FL for hogs. Works well if done right , also I've done sapling snare traps that snare the animal an release the bent sapling snapping the animal upward by the neck , had about 85% kill rate an almost 100% rate of trapping the animal. This was on a large farm owned by a close friend. Anyway great videos , just found your channel today an I've already watched 15+ videos. Very educational , keep up the good work. Your a better man then I , don't think I could eat a skunk or a rat unless I was In a survival situation haha
Unlike many people who cant handle survival, and protecting their property from predators, I appreciated what you do, and how professional you are, you not only instruct a survival tactic that could one day save someones life, you also do your best to not let anything go to waste. Dont know if you have done a video like this yet or not, but it may be of some people if you could make a short video on how to spot traps. in case Illegal Poaching is happening in an area.
I love your videos man, they are very informative and you justify your actions! Dont stop doing what you believe in, it makes perfect sense. You cannot please everyone, but your actions are not morally wrong and you make valid points about why you do it!
Enjoy the videos. I think this is a very useful skill to have. Don't worry about the complaints and keep uploading. Thanks for the great trapping videos, I learn a lot from them!
Great video and to hell with the naysayers! I just don't get those people. I don't like pop music, but I also don't go watch their videos just to dislike them and tell them how bad and untalented they are. Great video BTW!
Awesome! Great job! Thanks for sharing! Don't let them stop you! I live what you are doing! This stuff is great for survival and bush craft! Thanks again.
Dude, I love this trap...having possum issues lately on my property & I believe this would do the trick! Thanks again for another gr8, helpful video! subscribed 👍
Ignore the hate, there are a lot of people out there who really enjoy your videos. Myself included. Killing is part of life, and knowing how to set traps is a very useful skill. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for uploading the video. I never knew skunks were capable of killing chickens. My parents live in a ranch, and they have chickens there. There's a lot of wild life there, and recently we lost 3 chickens. I'd suspect coyotes (we live in California) to be the culprit, but never I would have thought skunks would be a suspect.
its great you show people how to take care of issues that arise. those who oppose trapping buy food from stores only. if they raised food, they'd look at problems differently
You continue to amaze me with all these primitive traps. I really enjoy your page and continue to watch with excitement. People forget that America was built with these primitive skill sets!
No, you keep posting your trap videos. Other guys post setting survival fashioned traps and never catching anything. Yours actually work. Great reference for teaching my girls.
There are VERY FEW primitive traps that actually work, and kill reliability. This one is mechanically sound and kills quickly, thanks to the leverage of the fulcrum and kill zone. Nicely done

Skunk killed by chicken it killed? That's poetic justice.
Why does every animal want to kill something Shawn loves
Andrew Wittenberg - That's why he can't have nice things
Cause they wanna be in his videos.
Hall Monitor lmao
Skunk you just picked the wrong hen house to mess with.
That sucker is not going to eat more chickens. Great job.
don't worry about what people say it's totally justified may your farm prosper and be blessed dude
well done, don't listen to the sensitive folks, they were raised in a bubble.
The people who don't like these videos are the kinds of people who think nature is cuddly.
Well that stinks....
Wow, Skunks are definitely much more agile and capable than most people think. We see them sort of waddling around and low to the ground, like you, I know better. Love your videos so much Shawn. Very great survival videos, keep up the great work, and screw all the PETA haters.
lil c nj yes, please make a video or two a day. Please!
Petra would be okay with this, as that skunk was with the intent to kill!
impactajuvenile yeah

Great Video, ty
Great work once again. Loving these!
Shawn dont feel bad for putting up these trapping videos. Even if people disagree with trapping animals, they cannot disagree that these videos are educational and instructional and help people with pest problems
I cant believe this guy gets hate he wants to help you people!
when do we get a little booklet with schematics of all your traps?
Only idiots who don't raise their own food would hate these videos, Shawn. I lost my show bird and 2 best layers to a persistent, brazen skunk. Death to chicken killers! And keep up the great work finding the best, most effective traps. I really appreciate these videos.
Screw the haters. You're protecting your assets and live-stock. Animals are not equals, people.
Did it concern anyone the chickens continued to eat while their buddy was mauled in front of them. lo
everything you are doing is perfectly fine, just ignore all the hate and keep making awesome videos

though to be honest. I would just throw away the skunk and not eat it. That look iffy to me.
u don't have to eat it. it killed your chicken
ADukeKing apparently you can soak the meat in some kind of brine that will get rid of the skunk spray taste.
I heard your comment about people complaining when you kill an animal but 90% of those people live in the city and probably don't have to deal with predators so keep on killing brother
Need to make a Davy Crockett hat.
pauljs75 - you mean raccoon? or did you think Davey Crockett wore a skunk hat?
that was a racoon ha,t but still would look cool.
Yeah I know it was different, but a skunk hat of the same style would be hilarious.
Awesome! Going to have to give this one a try. Did either of the skunks spray as they died?
JamesonThe1 good question!
I was wondering the same. I know they spray if you shoot them.
I am the chicken in the video, thanks for avenging my death.
"MMMMMMM skunk balls "
well you are one of the least hated trap/hunter, even if you are fed up with that cant imagine big hunting channels. great video as always. cheers!
Thank you!
I never realized skunks were carnivorous or predators. I always thought of them as scavengers or plant eaters.
I am a survivalist and I like your traps. thanks for putting them on here.
No room for bleeding heart types.
You are teaching survival skills NOT getting your jollies killing things. These types will be the drastic human preditorss that will do anything to not face starvation....the worst demise imaginable.

keep the videos coming Shawn. I've learned so much from you tutorials. The information you bring to life is truly becoming s lost art. Keep it alive, brother and thanks again.
DUDE add a blade to the wood that comes down on the skunk. it will be a guillotine
Love the videos. My dad was into trapping and survival methods when he was young but never was able to teach me or continue it. Life just gets too busy sometimes. So I really enjoy having your channel to watch and learn from.
Shawn-keep doing what your doing. Teaching these invaluable survival skills is very important for those who are mindful of the necessity.
