It's been four months since you became a werewolf, and you're getting better at controlling your transformations. Life is finally starting to feel like it's becoming normal again, and having your sweet, loving girlfriend at your side has made everything so much more bearable. But tonight, at the end of your date, some creep on the street harasses her, and she's obviously upset. Seeing her like that makes it hard to maintain control...

Nightshade's notes: When I first read this script, there was one part of it I wasn't expecting to identify with... but a lot has happened since then, and now I do. I'm talking about the part where the character describes going to the doctor and assuming the normal course of treatment will make everything fine, only to discover that their lives will be significantly changed from now on. You see, a month and a half ago, I realized that I suddenly couldn't hear anything out of one ear. I went to the doctor, and then the next doctor, and the next... and well, long story short, it seems that I am now permanently deaf in that ear. I am lucky compared to a lot of people, because my other ear is still working normally, and because I have experience in the Deaf world, but it has still been a difficult adjustment, and I'm still learning how to deal with the change. Audio editing is now more challenging, but it's something that I love, so I'm finding ways around it. I refuse to give up my binaural effects just because I can't hear them myself anymore!
Working on the facial expressions for this was very interesting. When the character is catcalled, well, I thought it would be a challenge to illustrate her emotions through my art, but it came more naturally than I expected. Maybe because I, like most women, I suspect, am very familiar with the uncertainty and fear that comes with unwanted attention. Not knowing if it's harmless, someone who thinks they're paying a compliment, or if this is someone who might follow and harass you, or worse. And then the embarrassment at yourself because you're probably overreacting, right? This sort of thing happens all the time, doesn't mean anything, right? So you brush it off and paste on a smile... but you still feel a little less safe than you did a minute ago...
I think this speaker is very lucky to have a partner who is so empathetic to her. I really like the mutually supportive, mutual protective relationship mvoluth created in this script.

Ooh we don't get many non-human listeners, so this is going to be interesting. If I were a werewolf, I would also want to protect my partner and friends if they were getting harassed. 🥺
Moon Silk has several with non-human listeners, and she's very good overall regardless.
Right! I would have made sure the guy never harassed another woman again. He would be to scared to ever leave his home once I was done.
Knowing you're deaf in one ear makes these audios all the more impressive :O be proud of what you've made friend, because the quality has not been impacted, if anything, they're getting better :)

It's hard to tell which of the two has more of a burden. While the listener is a straight-up werewolf, the speaker is possibly the only person that can reason with the listener after a transformation. That's quite the heavy burden to carry, but the speaker seems to see it as a privilege and a gift.

Oh! the necklace pendant thingy is a wolf! I watched the short, but for some reason assumed it was a whale pointing down LMAO the art is precious tho. The facial animations worked super well during the catcalling scenes. That gradual shift from surprise to uncertainty to annoyance came through cleary.

It's so brave of you to share that story and to still show so much passion for your craft, even with the limitations it has presented. I was born and raised in Wisconsin I love hearing stories of my state and our legends especially when talking about the Iron forest to the north of our state I've hiked in those woods there is a special ambience about it that makes it so distant from the world

Imagine if we could transform at will during the day. The so-called "nocturnal instincts" would most likely remain absent. That would be both useful and frightening at the same time. Also, love didn't defeat the werewolf. Love _saved_ the werewolf. This audio was fantastic. Thank you for sharing it, my queen.
If you don't mind me asking, do you have any idea as to what caused the permanent and complete loss of hearing in said ear? I must admit to being worried about your well-being as my first instinct, but I'm trying to tell myself that you'll be just fine.
So, what I experienced is called Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss, which is a fancy way of saying I lost hearing quickly and the problem is in my inner ear. Sometimes steroid treatments can restore it if it's caught quickly - my case is one of the times that they could not. There is technically some residual hearing left in that ear - it's categorized as a severe loss rather than profound - but in my case, the quality of that sound is not good enough to let me understand speech, even when it's highly amplified. Beyond that, there's not much that they can know for sure. It was very likely NOT caused by the ear infection I posted about a few months ago, but the actual cause is uncertain. It could be related to a mild case of the flu I had. Or maybe not.
On the other hand, I still have excellent hearing in my good ear. Background noise is more of a problem than it used to be, but I can hear most things that are happening in the room I'm in, most of the time. When people lean in to say something quietly in my bad ear, I have to say "wait a sec" and switch sides. I do have to make some changes to the way I do things, but overall, it hasn't impacted my day to day life in any major ways. Just little ones. And as time goes on, I'll get more accustomed to it, and it'll keep getting easier. I'm also exploring hearing aid options, but that will take time.
I really will be fine. It's an annoyance, but I'm very lucky, because I'm well-prepared for it and have very supportive people around me, both personally and professionally. Thank you for worrying about me. I'm glad to know you care. But don't worry too much, because I really am okay. 🩷

I am already on my fourth instance of listening to this audio. It's common for people with ADHD to listen to and/or watch the same thing back-to-back for an hour or more. But only with the really good stuff.
Also, I only just noticed the howling North American Grey Wolf pendant hanging from her choker. Such brilliant attention to detail that most people only pick up on subconsciously. You could do artwork commissions for other VAs on the side with your skills and patience. Helping out your peers while earning extra for whenever you can't create your own content.
I have ADHD too! Pretty sure I've driven many a roommate nuts with how often I watched and rewatched certain shows.
Alas, I have no more "on the side" time for art commissions, much as I love drawing characters. I'm already using all my "on the side" time to make these audios. I suppose if I ever stopped doing this, I could pick that up, but I have no intention of giving up voice acting. :) But I'm flattered by the suggestion!
About biscuits vs cookies - I was under the impression that only certain types of "cookies" were called biscuits. You don't really eat chocolate chip biscuits, do you??

3) No I do not. And I'm pretty sure that cookies are a group of biscuit types, not the other way around. Then again, I live in Australia, so we most likely grew up with different definitions 🙃. I probably assumed that your view was similar since you don't sound American to me (I suspect UK), but I don't mind being wrong.
