Everything makes so much more sense now. Pretty much every Vfc gbbr owner in the states has Asia editions due to the government banning the retailers from importing them. So that now explains why all of mine work and everyone else that I know who owns VFCs work. I was thinking this is the most unlucky person of all time with VFC.
My V3 416D works also, Asia edition, I took the dust cover spring off my 416A5, as I thought it was catching on the ambi bolt release, no issues with bolt lock on the A5 since (euro edition).
I had a vfc 416a5 which I acquired based on your review years ago when you pit it against the MWS I really wanted to love it, the trigger alone made it worth it, but it was honestly the worst GBBR I have ever ever owned, I couldn't begin to list the amount of problems I had with it I hope this one works well for you!
The trigger is excellent on these. Sorry to hear you had issues with yours. These aren’t cheap either, so it’s totally disheartening when they’re lemons.
When I first get my GBBR I aimed to the VFC's HK416D(because I happen to have one that's a Chinese Gel Blaster[no money for AEG back then]), I have to say the shooting feel is very impressive. And around some time, I also going to get myself an TM AKX, but I either gonna sold one or two GBBs from my collection. The ones in the line of gap is my VFC P320 M17(it was repainted due to the original color scratch off) and my HK416D, which kind of make me have to think thoroughly about it.

I ordered an SR16 gbbr, here in Spain, no special requests, it came with a restrictor, not an NPAS in the nozzle and only finally works after replacing most of the parts surrounding the bolt catch 🤷♂️ When she works, she’s a beauty, getting there is a labour of love

Then, I moved to Italy, watched it again and went with TM ( We have a sub 1 Joule limit and I wasn't going to gamble with GHK's QC). I’m glad you finally got one that works! I have the opposite experience with your theory, though. I’m based in Asia and both HK416A5s (I haven’t tried other versions) I got were Asia versions. Both were epic lemons, with the bolt lock problem. Utterly disappointing. The first one I sold quickly. The second one, I got years later, I managed to tweak, and now has no issues. The older version mags do work for me, but I just prefer to use the newer version. I agree with you 100% that the products should work out of the box.
Yo Badabing! I saw on your FB page you shared about the upcoming VFC M16A2 using their V3 system. I'm guessing you're gonna review/try that too? With a direct from Asia unit, of course haha. I'm really itching to get a retro AR and having watched Black Hawk Down as well as having played a lot of the Delta Force Black Hawk Down game and other tactical shooters from that era, retro ARs just hit different compared to the kinds of builds I see nowadays. Building an MWS to become an M16A2 would destroy my already raggedy wallet haha.
Hi! Mate, I’m right there with you. Funny you say “retro AR”. I’m obvious unaware that’s it’s been been 20+ years since they were standard issue. It’s indeed a long time ago…but to me it doesn’t really feel like it. The M16A2. I love those rifles. The M16 variant of my youth. Totally iconic. DF BHD was outstanding! I loved using the one with the M203. Battlefield 2 was also peak carry handle squad too. And one of the last games before GWOT setups took hold. Am I going to buy one? I don’t know. I might not. I have so much on my plate right now. Unless it’s heavily requested by multiple people.

Hi, I’m not familiar with the VR635 GBBR, so I don’t have anything to say of it. TM MP7 is excellent…although not without its flaws. And green gas isn’t the kindest fuel to use in it. Still, I have fond memories of using it in CQB and it was extremely precise when paired with good ammo and a well zeroed red dot sight. The VFC V2 makes for a more authentic replica though. It being 1.1 scale.
I have no plans to buy one as I already own the original TM M4. Unless it is heavily requested for the channel or this video receives something crazy like a couple of thousand likes, I’m in no rush to invest in one.

I sat down and actually thought about the differences in the U.K. EU exports versus the ones I personally had imported from Asia. All of those local units were either: meh-needs work-utter rubbish. With the exception of that V2 SD3 which I sold, I still have all the ‘Asian Edition’ GBB’s and they work very well indeed. I am from Taiwan so every 416 here is Aisa Edition, could not bother to count how many 416a5 has bolt lock issues with HK mags. In fact 416D also has bolt lock failure if you insist on using that crap, or old Vmags for that matter.
Sorry pal, I’m not interested in reviewing the WE 416. As I already own a VFC and Viper Tech 416, there isn’t really anything I could gain from the WE Tech version.
I am glad you finaly got lucky! I bought myself one V3 from the advice of a friend, i was not into Ar platform at this time. I was quite happy, but for the price, it's still have problems: the buttstock fall into pieces at the first play, the fucking castle nut wich got loose as well, and the finish wich is easily scratch. Parts are easy to find and match with the real steel one but for the price of it... But well the rest of the replica work very well

to be honest, even I have settled in UK, I am still order my airsoft gun from Hong Kong airsoft supplier, because the asia version always has full marking and better gas efficiency. Moreover, I knew the shop owner very well, he always provide me an useful opinion which gun should be bought and which is not worth.

I honestly don't know why he has such problems with the A5. I'm using the standard internals with red gas. I bought the stanags V2 and I never ever had any problems with bolt catch. Maybe I'm just lucky
I have an HK 416 D V3 Asian edition also. The only problem I ever had with it what is the screw that holds the bolt catch assembly together, I just put some loctite in there and never had a problem since

Finally. Not a a5, but hey, a 416 at least ! Mine is a v3, and I never encounter any issue… yet. My mp7 vfc has the issue. I filed the bolt a little bit, but it’s not solving for a long time… it came back. I’m waiting for the cnc bolt from clutch precision. Hop it will fix the issue.
my client had the same issue. problem with bolt catch on vfc mp7. when i disassembled it, i've seen heavy wear on the bolt (alloy) where it should be catched with bolt catch (steel). i solved the problem soldering some steel piece to the alloy, using some heavy duty russian soldering flux "A64" and inert gas to prevent alloy oxydizing. to do this i removed some alloy material from the damaged part of the bolt, so my steel piece could fit. soldering to such a massive part required some very powerful soldering iron 100W+ and not so common tools and inert gas, but it's possible.
I know mate. I think licensing has something to do with it. One of the reasons why Umarex has all of their markings plastered over EU/U.K. units. The Asian models are granted the full markings. Antler proof markings etc… I’m sure there’s more to it.
I think one of the lads on discord was pretty much saying this - I.e. that VFC cannot iteratively fix issues on the Europe Umarex lines due to the licensing. As they are only licensed for the initial products not for follow ups, even for reliability reasons. Madness.
cool I bet the non asia models are assembled somewhere else with a bad QC... But I am gonna stick with my TM M4 cuz like Tod Howard says it Just works. It killed 2 red dots for me but that is it now I have a LVPO made for .22LR on it and that holds zero.
Assembled elsewhere by a subcontractor, who knows. Sorry mate. I don’t know who that is? And yes. Airsoft optics are generally rubbish at doing anything beyond looking the part. Some of them don’t even do that very well 😅

Its so good it makes the VFC visually comparable to haemorrhoids. That being said, it’s just a TM in fancy skin. And I already have one of those so… I dunno.
@@BadaBingPictures I've just put a real AR 3 Oz buffer weight from brownalls in my vfc 416 and bcm, easily the best upgrade I've done for them, I'd highly recommend it, they both absolutely rip on full auto now, only £30 a pop too
Mate I swear this is a fun vfc saga you're on. I'm still doing research on these vfc gbbrs and have started to lean towards the bcm mk2, it's the same v3 system, but the mags are the better v3 stanags with the red dry fire switch. What's really been making me lean towards it rather than the hk416 is that they have a 14in version and the stock furniture is better Imo. But I still can't decide between ordering from somewhere like kotte zeller that'll ship cheap and have vat paid but at a relatively higher price 730 vs 460 from asian stores, but those have like 100 euro shipping on top and paying vat is a lottery and with it it'd be like 650+ total, 100 less than the german store. So choices choices. At least I'm glad you've got a rifle that finally works properly for review.
As an owner of multiple VFC V3s i would put the BCM as one of the best out of the box. Close second would be the URGI! The V3 mags are an improvement over V2, but thats bot to say the V2's were even bad! Only thing that irks me with the BCMs is the inability to get them in a single tone 🤣
@@dylandelmo3185 well the v2 mags have issues as seen in the previous videos from the dude and I've also read about it on reddit, but whatever. The bcm also comes in black, I've seen it on redwolf and kotte zeller, but personally Idk which to get. They seem the same but the black one is never called the mk2 while the dual tone is, even on the vfc site. So I think I might go with it, plus a tan foregrip, it'd look nice plus a tan eotech replica from holy warrior.
Back in the day myself and 5 mates all bought the first gen VFC aeg 416 and another friend bought their SCAR (H I think). All of us had the exact same issues on the first day of using them and that was the cheap shoddy internal wiring melted causing the aeg's to fire on full auto with no trigger pull needed. All needed a new gear box, motor and rewired to be able to work. Since then I've heard nothing but horror stories about VFC's quality control and I refuse to buy their products, much as I'd love their new SIG line I will not buy their stuff. Marui GBBR's might not be the greatest and TM are slow to put stuff out but at least they are reliable enough.
My dust cover closes properly. The selector is supposed to be like that. Unable to rotate onto safe with the hammer up. Real AR’s do this. The HK416A5 changed this, although airsoft ones don’t replicate that function.

No chance. I still have nightmares of that horrendous Version 1. As I understand it’s still not quite as perfected as it could be, so I’ll wait and see if a V3 comes along.
So what is actually different then? Ive got a Euro v3 a5; no issues whatsoever after 2 years… I have multiple asian version bolts (setup for cqb, assault and dmr) but they are no different than what came stock. Would love to see a side by side teardown of the umarex and vfc asia edition
I have no idea what the differences are internally. Whether the wrong springs or parts get accidentally mixed in with the export versions…who knows. I’d like to see a comparison between them too.

Hi, I think much of the community would highly recommend going for a VFC AR. I think that would be a wise decision too. GHK AR’s, while operationally are a blast, they’re still a quirky system and abundant flaws remain. Not including poor QC. Realism is about the same. The VFC has a little more leeway with real steel compatibility, or so I hear.
The most noticeable differences are the full trademarks. Antler proof marks and serial numbers and it says made in Germany. EU has Licensed Trademark and not as many authentic markings.
I don’t know about that. Out of all the VFC GBB’s I’ve owned, the ones from the EU market have ALL had issues of varying degrees. That’s not just the 416A5’s. The ones I’ve had personally imported have all been a-okay. 100% functional, no fiddling around to get working.

You're fine. Im in the US as well and have the a5 bought from proaction. Just remember to buy version 3 vmags or stanags. There's a few tutorials on how to fix the bolt catch.

I also grabbed a black de noveske and its actually so much better than I dreamed. its a decent gbbr but on mine the fit and finish are even better than both my krytacs. its one of the best feeling airsoft I've ever handled. I might have lucked out but I think its because every other dipshit thought they were going to war in Pakistan with fde ones. ha ha to them. did you at least bring KY and make an evening of it?
Tropic Thunder is one of the last great comedies. It couldn’t be made today, on the account of everyone being so sensitive. I’m quite fond of the UMP, but not fond enough to buy one. As a long VFC fanboy, I've had enough of vfc's 25% defective lottery. Careful with the D, the auto sear pin likes to slip out during gameplay and break a bunch of things with the next shot. Loxktite that up and put some tape over both ends
Perhaps both. The shop done their part by testing it out prior to shipping, so they did their bit to ensure it was a sound purchase. I didn’t ask them to do it, they just informed me that it will be checked over. I’m delighted that they did.
The more I think about all the other VFC gbbs I’ve bought locally, the more I believe it. It’s not just the 416’s, now I think about it. Well, it was a happy day on the 14th when it arrived 😊

But i think that the problem may be with airsoft shops, they buy b-Stock and selling it to us at full price...
The 416D has a non-ambidextrous bolt catch, unlike the A5, which is lighter, so I think that's why it locks back, not because of regional differences.
Hence why I went with the Delta. Trust issues with the A5.

I am from Taiwan so every 416 here is Aisa Edition, could not bother to count how many 416a5 has bolt lock issues with HK mags. In fact 416D also has bolt lock failure if you insist on using that crap, or old Vmags for that matter.

I am glad you finaly got lucky! I bought myself one V3 from the advice of a friend, i was not into Ar platform at this time. I was quite happy, but for the price, it's still have problems: the buttstock fall into pieces at the first play, the fucking castle nut wich got loose as well, and the finish wich is easily scratch. Parts are easy to find and match with the real steel one but for the price of it...
But well the rest of the replica work very well
for the leaky vmag you can likely just tighten the screws and the gaskets will seal themselves if not teardown is easy and some lube should fix it

to be honest, even I have settled in UK, I am still order my airsoft gun from Hong Kong airsoft supplier, because the asia version always has full marking and better gas efficiency. Moreover, I knew the shop owner very well, he always provide me an useful opinion which gun should be bought and which is not worth.

Further, Most of HK , Taiwan airsoft player trend to use GBB rifle instead of AEG, I think the market we target will not fit in UK because GBB rifle and the accessories is still costly, it is not friendly and affortable for all UK airsoft player.

I honestly don't know why he has such problems with the A5. I'm using the standard internals with red gas. I bought the stanags V2 and I never ever had any problems with bolt catch. Maybe I'm just lucky

I have an HK 416 D V3 Asian edition also. The only problem I ever had with it what is the screw that holds the bolt catch assembly together, I just put some loctite in there and never had a problem since

My mp7 vfc has the issue. I filed the bolt a little bit, but it’s not solving for a long time… it came back.
I’m waiting for the cnc bolt from clutch precision. Hop it will fix the issue.
It’s worked out better. It’s a better candidate to compare with my Viper Tech 416D. So it’s all good.

my client had the same issue. problem with bolt catch on vfc mp7. when i disassembled it, i've seen heavy wear on the bolt (alloy) where it should be catched with bolt catch (steel).
i solved the problem soldering some steel piece to the alloy, using some heavy duty russian soldering flux "A64" and inert gas to prevent alloy oxydizing. to do this i removed some alloy material from the damaged part of the bolt, so my steel piece could fit. soldering to such a massive part required some very powerful soldering iron 100W+ and not so common tools and inert gas, but it's possible.
Still, I am going for the A5.. But the MWS version instead 😉

I think licensing has something to do with it. One of the reasons why Umarex has all of their markings plastered over EU/U.K. units.
The Asian models are granted the full markings. Antler proof markings etc… I’m sure there’s more to it.

Blame Umarex for all this bs. All retailers in Germany hate Umarex for their bad business practices and lack of support.
I think one of the lads on discord was pretty much saying this - I.e. that VFC cannot iteratively fix issues on the Europe Umarex lines due to the licensing. As they are only licensed for the initial products not for follow ups, even for reliability reasons. Madness.
cool I bet the non asia models are assembled somewhere else with a bad QC... But I am gonna stick with my TM M4 cuz like Tod Howard says it Just works. It killed 2 red dots for me but that is it now I have a LVPO made for .22LR on it and that holds zero.

I won’t say I’ll never review that. From what I’ve seen it has the finest attention to detail out of all the 416A5’s available in airsoft. Its so good it makes the VFC visually comparable to haemorrhoids.
That being said, it’s just a TM in fancy skin. And I already have one of those so…

@@BadaBingPictures I've just put a real AR 3 Oz buffer weight from brownalls in my vfc 416 and bcm, easily the best upgrade I've done for them, I'd highly recommend it, they both absolutely rip on full auto now, only £30 a pop too
Mate I swear this is a fun vfc saga you're on. I'm still doing research on these vfc gbbrs and have started to lean towards the bcm mk2, it's the same v3 system, but the mags are the better v3 stanags with the red dry fire switch. What's really been making me lean towards it rather than the hk416 is that they have a 14in version and the stock furniture is better Imo. But I still can't decide between ordering from somewhere like kotte zeller that'll ship cheap and have vat paid but at a relatively higher price 730 vs 460 from asian stores, but those have like 100 euro shipping on top and paying vat is a lottery and with it it'd be like 650+ total, 100 less than the german store. So choices choices. At least I'm glad you've got a rifle that finally works properly for review.
As an owner of multiple VFC V3s i would put the BCM as one of the best out of the box. Close second would be the URGI! The V3 mags are an improvement over V2, but thats bot to say the V2's were even bad! Only thing that irks me with the BCMs is the inability to get them in a single tone 🤣

@@dylandelmo3185 well the v2 mags have issues as seen in the previous videos from the dude and I've also read about it on reddit, but whatever. The bcm also comes in black, I've seen it on redwolf and kotte zeller, but personally Idk which to get. They seem the same but the black one is never called the mk2 while the dual tone is, even on the vfc site. So I think I might go with it, plus a tan foregrip, it'd look nice plus a tan eotech replica from holy warrior.

An emotional piece.
Back in the day myself and 5 mates all bought the first gen VFC aeg 416 and another friend bought their SCAR (H I think). All of us had the exact same issues on the first day of using them and that was the cheap shoddy internal wiring melted causing the aeg's to fire on full auto with no trigger pull needed. All needed a new gear box, motor and rewired to be able to work.
Since then I've heard nothing but horror stories about VFC's quality control and I refuse to buy their products, much as I'd love their new SIG line I will not buy their stuff. Marui GBBR's might not be the greatest and TM are slow to put stuff out but at least they are reliable enough.
Does your V3 also have issues with closing the dust cover on a closed bolt and the selector being able to be put on safe while uncocked?
My dust cover closes properly.
The selector is supposed to be like that. Unable to rotate onto safe with the hammer up. Real AR’s do this. The HK416A5 changed this, although airsoft ones don’t replicate that function.

So what is actually different then? Ive got a Euro v3 a5; no issues whatsoever after 2 years… I have multiple asian version bolts (setup for cqb, assault and dmr) but they are no different than what came stock.

I have no idea what the differences are internally. Whether the wrong springs or parts get accidentally mixed in with the export versions…who knows.

I think much of the community would highly recommend going for a VFC AR. I think that would be a wise decision too. GHK AR’s, while operationally are a blast, they’re still a quirky system and abundant flaws remain. Not including poor QC.
Realism is about the same. The VFC has a little more leeway with real steel compatibility, or so I hear.

What's the official difference between the Asian and non-asian edition?
The most noticeable differences are the full trademarks. Antler proof marks and serial numbers and it says made in Germany. EU has Licensed Trademark and not as many authentic markings.

I don’t know about that. Out of all the VFC GBB’s I’ve owned, the ones from the EU market have ALL had issues of varying degrees.
That’s not just the 416A5’s.
The ones I’ve had personally imported have all been a-okay. 100% functional, no fiddling around to get working.

You're fine. Im in the US as well and have the a5 bought from proaction. Just remember to buy version 3 vmags or stanags. There's a few tutorials on how to fix the bolt catch.

As a long VFC fanboy, I've had enough of vfc's 25% defective lottery.
Careful with the D, the auto sear pin likes to slip out during gameplay and break a bunch of things with the next shot. Loxktite that up and put some tape over both ends

Perhaps both. The shop done their part by testing it out prior to shipping, so they did their bit to ensure it was a sound purchase. I didn’t ask them to do it, they just informed me that it will be checked over. I’m delighted that they did.

I wasn’t enjoying it like I used to. When I started, I was a teenager and I feel it’s something I’ve grown out of. Now I’d rather spend my time in peace and quiet, sipping coffee.
