Also my favorite song by them. The line "Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability - To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here" Just hits so hard.
100% agree. It's one of the best lyrical lines ever written, in my opinion!
Thirded. Brilliant writing. (and singing, and composition, etc, etc)
Agree. The most intelligent lyrics ever written...
Yes, Brilliant!
@@genegrant8563 Love that lyric. Also love "Cold silence has a tendancy to atrophy any sense of compassion" Sick lyric but the melody in which it was song is just beautiful/awesome. Reflection has tremendous lyrics too. And Lateralus. Oh and Parabol/Parabola. Oh and Sober. And.... LOL. Yes, I love me some Tool.
This is probably my favorite song by Tool. Props to you all for checking it out.
I'm 40, and I've been listening to Tool since my early teens. I feel like this band speaks to a part of our brains that has been dormant for thousands of years.
Yes! You knew Tool BEFORE, but with THIS reaction, you have officially pulled back the seal, and now you REALLY see, hear, and feel the greatest that is Tool. Your reactions, the breakdowns, the milly wop, and your connectedness; two very intelligent men, rocking out to Tool hearing, and enjoying Tool and bobbing your heads to two different beats and rhythms. You made it!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this reaction. Welcome to the Tool Army gentlemen.
Lol dork
Absolutely, I Second the nomination to the Tool Army!
17:29 "That was the best rollercoaster I've ever been on..."
*Rosetta Stoned has joined the chat*
He said “I don’t ever want it to stop”. I feel ya!!! Really enjoy watching you experience the magic of Tool!
There are only a handful of reaction channels that I believe are authentic; meaning the reactor(s) dont actually like the song/band and they insult our intelligence trying to make us believe that they do and pretending that they “get” the music. Your channel is one of the 3 or 4 channels that I believe are authentic and I appreciate it. You have intelligent breakdowns and understand the music/musicality/lyricism in totality. Great job, guys! Certified Real Ones!
Who are your 3 or 4 channels? I'm just curious
@@jakefromstatefarm1405 PoloReacts…Lost in Vegas…Key of Jeebs….and the other ones I can’t remember. They just show up I’m my recommendations when they release a new one. Sometimes there are randos that seem authentic but not too sure. But then there are some that are just so sugary sweet and fake. Uggh. You know: *hip-hop head reacts*
“WHAT is UP CZcams?! We. Are. Back. With. Another Reaction!”(Please subscribe!) “surprised face”(Please subscribe)”jumping up and down”(Please subscribe)”mind-blown!“(Please subscribe)”Greatest song Evaaaaaaa!”
It’s like they all
Read the same script.
@@garrettmarshall1288 true enough. I would add David Heretic to the list of authentic ones as well
@@garrettmarshall1288 Funny, I also watch Polo and LIV and I agree with you!
@Erik Davis Elizabeth’s journey through the feels is written all over her face. I love her channel.
You both say “this is my new favorite Tool song.”
Stay on this path. I promise the day will come when you say…
“My favorite Tool song is the one that’s playing, right now.”
They’re that F’ing GOOD.
❤❤❤
LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Right in Two and The Patient are my favorite Tool songs.
As you listen to more of Tool, you will realize the majority of their songs are about the human condition. Their lyrics are always as deep as their time signatures.
Bingo
Fully agree!
you got it
Totaly agree. All songs are very meaningful
that look at 16:00, when the chorus comes back, perfect
I get goosebumps every single time
This is also a good example of when TOOL does a solo, EVERYbody is doing a solo lol
Yes! Goosebumps every time! It is DEAD ON perfect! ❤💯
That moment is pure magic on their faces.
It's so fun to watch people discover how hard it is to bang your head to Tool songs. Just when you think you have the rhythm, you don't, forcing you to devolve into the head shake. It takes multiple times listening before you start to feel the timing.
Desending off their newest album is great as well!
Amazing
Shut up
Yes indeed!!!
That's my favorite song on the album. It just keeps blowing you away over and over.
Helluva double entendre there... I feel like whenever I finish that album I am coming down off of a high point... AND the name of that AMAZING song. Intentional or not... well said.
The conversation at the end of this video perfectly encapsulates the Tool experience. It's not just the music, it's the long conversations you have after the fact with people that have also experienced it, contemplating not only the music but existence- among other things. To me, that's probably the best part of the entire video. Seeing the two of you slip so naturally into such a cerebral conversation, as we all often do because of this music.
I’ve seen tool 5 times and there is no reason for an orchestra. Four dudes on the stage make all that sound and they do it just like the record.
Absolutely agree!! Isn’t it the best experience!?!? Nothing compares for me ❤
Same
Close, but he doesn't do vocal layering in the live show.
@@reiperx1064 true, but still sounds great to me
To be fair. Danny Carey is a freak of nature.
For those that like the lyrics, Wings for Marie gets me every single time. Its about Maynards mother. He previously wrote a song called Judith with one of his other projects (A Perfect Circle). Maynards mother had an aneurysm when he was 11. The church told her she must have a sin she had not repented of so she was punished by God. The church told her she couldn't come back until she was healed. The church abandoned her, but she never abandoned her beliefs. Maynard was very angry about it. He wrote Judith. She died about 4 years after Judith. Three years later he wrote Wings for Marie. Whether or not Maynard believes in God, his mother never giving up on him changed his angry spirit and he believes she saved him.
For me, this was close to home. My mother prayed for me every day no matter. She passed and I had to take a hard look at my life. She saved me.
the album 10,000 days is also in dedication to his mother, being wheelchair bound for 30 years from paralysis to death is the equivalent to 10,000 days.
For real man. I loved that song when 10000 days came out. It’s so beautiful
Wow!! I have been a Fan of Tool since the early 90's!! Such an Awesome band! Thanks for the insight!! I will go back and listen to both of those songs, back to back now, if I possibly can!! 🤘✌️
bruh where did these dudes go? The emotion in these breakdowns is incredibly authentic!
Life has been crazy. We'll be back soon!
@@De.Dre.Universe great to hear!! do wings pt 1 & 2 next!!!!!
The way it builds from the drums in the middle of the song just blows my mind. I really love this band
Tool takes you on a spiritual journey that reaches deeper within our core...the tribal..the collective one...the "we"! We are all one. They like Rage Against the Machine are truly one of a kind. Btw Tool played on RATM "know your enemy". Maynard sings a part but the song reflects tools sound with Rage....it's amazing. I love they collaborated because they are my top 2 bands hands down. They both speak strongly about humanity and it's crucial for our evolution. They create the spiritual connection to bring us closer.
The way you guys dissect a Tool piece is phenomenal
That was a real fun journey with you guys. Such great interpretation and insight. These are the kinds of conversations that masterful art is supposed to produce.
I was cracking up when I heard em using the coaster metaphor…..we’ve all prob used that explanation before when trying to explain it to someone who hadn’t listened yet. 😅 *PLUS on their first tool review which happened to be their first time having a tool mind melt they noted that it was like getting taken on a ride. “Strap in”. 😆
Tool songs & Pink Floyd are like the movie The Last Samurai when he says “ you could spend your life looking for the perfect Blume 🌸 and it would not be a wasted life” and in the end he realized before his last breath … “ they are all perfect”
Bro!!
Tool had been called " The Modern Pink Floyd".. two classics!!!
Yo, you guys are going to blow up. Your production value is already great and you have good chemistry.
Do a bunch of Tool songs you'll be at 100k in no time.
I absolutely agree. Lots of channels have come up off of Tool. Hope these guys come back and dive headfirst into it.
Yeah I think the message of the song , how silly it is to fight each other , causing humanity to devide over land that we still be here once we're all gone.
Thank you, guys! You feel the Tool music so deep! And all your words about tribal music and in the same time - to play it with orchestra, I’m totally agree with you!
BEst song on this album hands down is" Wings Of Marie PT2" it is a song about Maynard's mother and will have you in tears just about. I have seen them live about 9 times now and they hit every time. Glad to see people get into them that get to hear it for the first time. Every song makes you think more than you ever thought of. Great video guys, and from a fellow southern guy best wishes. and #GODAWGS
Loving your Tool analysis since I discovered your channel recently. Btw, the "toms" you keep hearing in Tool songs are tablas which are common in Indian music.
With this reaction you have proved that you get their music, great reaction! There are so many amazing songs by Tool waiting for you to discover them. It’s actually difficult to name a favorite, as the best Tool song is always the one you are listening to at the moment.
However, here are some of my favorites:
-Descending
-The Grudge
-Lateralus
-Stinkfist
-H.
-Vicarious
-Wings for Marie part 1 & 2
-Push it
-Parabol/Parabola
…
I keep forgetting some, they don’t have bad songs 😂
oh Push it, the "other" live version is sooooo good, guessing you heard it? thanks for the reminder :)
TOOL changed my outlook on music and even effected my style of writing back in 2002.
Affected....lol
I like how De was trying to keep the tom beat at the end and just lost it. Haha. I felt that through the first few listens. It's insane how Danny keeps that odd beat rolling through that guitar riff. And that drum fill before Maynard returns is another level. My favorite track on the album!
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of its fleeting time here.
My favorite band🙏. Thank you for the respect and appreciation you show them💜
I love how you said the end of the song tied up the story, I've always felt that way as well.
You guys are really feeling this shit and I am loving it! It is so clear on your faces and in your movements that your souls are well and truly open to music.
The band records the music and then Maynard writes to it from there...first time catching the channel, awesome takes, tool army incoming!
Just stumbled upon your channel. As an Upper 50’s Tool fan I get such joy out of watching your guys reactions to Tool! You guys “get” it! Why Tool is soooo great! Keep up the good work. Enjoy you guys!!
Those drums you're hearing are Indian Tabla drums. They're really cool. Danny uses tabla samples on his electric drum pads and I think he also plays them with his hands during that solo middle part or he uses a roland hand drum with samples
Love, love, love your reaction to this magnificent song. There’s no band that outdoes Tool. It is so emotional to see people enjoying them for the first time. Great job describing your perspective on their music. ❤️
It’s funny, there is a fan made music video for this song that is absolutely amazing. You guys basically described the whole thing when you were visualizing what you thought it might look like.
Those drum sounds at the beginning are tabla drums (traditional Indian drums)
Dude 1: having a cosmic ethereal near-stroke revelation
Dude 2: this reminds so much of Mortal Kombat
Yeah, Tool does that.
The drums that are being used are an electric version of the tabla; an Indian drum (sort of like a bongo drum) with a very distinct sound.
This was my favorite up until descending ..omg
As a Tool fan from the very beginning, watching you guys be absolutely mesmerized and honestly sometimes just dumbfounded but what is going on is fucking priceless! I Love it when people realize that these guys are on a whole other stratosphere. I got actual goosebumps from your reactions. Keep going!!
I recommend Invincible from Fear Inoculum.
How the f do you guys only have 20k subs?! Ya'll deserve at least 10x that with the quality breakdowns and reactions you do
Seriously!
because they quit.
Love this. I am turning 30 soon, TOOL has been my favorite band since I was 12. They’ve changed my life. Listen to “Intension” before “Right in Two” next time, they go together :)
You’re correct of course, it starts with Vicarious(feeling someone’s death vicariously), too right in two(gods description of heaven on earth with angels and presumably demons), it’s a journey of mankind with steps in between of life.
This is hands down the best reaction vid I’ve ever watched! Your emotions are so deep and authentic and that was so fun and meaningful to watch! Your Tool journey has been amazing. Thank you for this!
The band creates the song, they give it to Maynard and he stylizes his lyrics to fit the music
While all their albums are their best it depends on your mood. My personal favorite is Lateralus though. It'd be great if y'all did full album reactions. Even if broken up song by song. I love hearing your guys' insight. You really delve into what the artist is trying to put across
Aenima is my personal favorite, it still has that grunge sound that’s lost on lateralus
Cool seeing peeps vibing to music in 11/8, in rhythm!
Nothing better than watching tool "take someone away."
As a Tool lover, watching you both process the emotional and musical experience is pure dopamine!
Reflection hits like this too.
Your favorite TOOL song is always the one you’re listening to.
Fantastic reaction video. Every time you guys react to Tool song it brings me right back to my first time hearing them.
Guys. I love when they do that. They feed you the pieces of the song bit by bit, and in a way that makes it hard to grasp the 2 or 3 rhythms you're trying to lock down. And then they just hand you the full gift of the ensemble. Wild.
I loved your reaction to this song guys!! One of TOOL's best songs. I have cried and laughed so many times to this band. They make you FEEEEEL, period and you have to let go and just experience them. Seen them many times live and they are even better believe it or not. Keep listening to them and you won't be disappointed. There is so much more to discover
The song previous to right in two is called Intention, and slowly details how men divide from other men using tools as weapons, easing into right in twos message of division v apathy
You guys should do Wings For Marie Pats 1 and 2 together. It's amazing. Also Rosetta Stoned for something a bit less deep and more mind bending.
They really should just go ahead an take the time to listen to 10,000 Days top to bottom. It's constructed together as a whole so every note on every track fits in somewhere in this universe they created with the album... Solid Gold.
Judith before Wings for Marie.
If you guys do Rosetta Stoned on the same album bring the damn lyrics. 😂😂😂 you'll need them
The humbling river by puscifer. If you ever come to Cleveland for a show. You fly I'll buy. I've seen them 7 times. You have to see it live. It's exponentially amazing. I have a tattoo for crud sake.
That Milly Rock comment was fire!!! So good
This song is my fav Tool song and I like to check reactions to it every now and then. Glad you liked it.
I don’t mean to exaggerate, overreact… I like to start paraphrasing a doctor’s opinion I heard in a PBS documentary that one of the hardest things about death has to do with the fact that we do not know what life is all about. Obviously, this song is far, not even close to what our purpose is, but this song does picture a tiny piece of our true existence -and in a way gives me peace. Besides the great musical instrumentation, the lyrics made it complete to my taste. Thanks for your video reaction.
The whole song/reaction was absolutely real and gritty. I do really love how well You said at the end that it was like bring us back to our basic state of being, simple, like the dirt under our feet. Nicely done!!
Yes! My favorite Tool masterpiece.
I would highly recommend “46 & 2”, “Pneuma” or “Aenema” next! 🌀out!!
Makes my soul elated to watch y’all discovering the majesty of TOOL. My favorite band for 30 years now. It’s hard to put feelings to words…I love love love watching new comers discover to magic unfold. Great channel btw…very fun to vibe with you guys.
I absolutely love watching people have the same amazement and excitement about this band as I do. It is truly a journey.
Seems you guys will love the rest of the journey!
When I die, I will miss listening to Tool the most!
It’s so fun watching you become introduced to tool
A nd you are right;
Tool levels us up !
The Patient off of Lateralus will be your new favorite.
that's my favorite Tool song too! I love you guyssss
To the point of how is Maynard basically participate with the pace of the songs he puts it as his voice is his additional instrument. He's not the lead singer he's the vocal instrument of the group.
I went to see Tool in concert in February and Danny made a beautiful sound experience with everyone in the audience. I was entranced every moment. Thanks for your amazing reaction!!
Yes! You guys get it! You got my sub man! Respect to you guys for being so authentic and real!
You guys are just awesome! I appreciate the authenticity
Loved this reaction video. It is something special seeing people listen to a Tool tune for the first time. Right in Two is one of my favorites. It was the song playing in the delivery room when my daughter was born, hoping that sets the tone right for her as the first thing she heard in this world was Right in Two.
they really appreciate it. and I appreciate them
The band completes all of the music before Maynard writes one lyric. They send the finished song to Maynard, then he writes the lyrics and vocal tone.
I think of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Monkeys. Early man. In the desert. Finding a bone club. Discovering want....greed....and the birth of war
I fell in love with this song from the first second and it’s still my favorite from Tool. It’s just an absolute jewel. 😃👍🏻👍🏻
I love seeing you guys geek out to Tool. I love when someone else gets it and feels it. I have many different visions while listening to them. Rosetta stoned I have had crazy hallucinations during that song.
Yay a new TOOL reax video! 🤩 I love how you guys break down what you're hearing, the truth of your joy AND your knowledge and insight on music comes right out and it manages to add to the sounds of some of my favorite music ever created! It's always a pleasure--and this track is certainly one of the absolute best that TOOL ever recorded. Every single note, every word, every beat is exactly where it needs to be. It needs nothing else. 💖💖
Great "Love Death and Robots" analogy 👍
10000 days is definitely the best album for a new listener, soon to be fan, to start their TOOL journey.
Fun fact: If you listen to the song before this they flow into each other musically AND lyrically. This song is truly a masterpiece of a song. Love the reaction. 🤘🏾🖖🏿
I literally teared up to watch your minds be blown at 16:04 after that agonizing lead up. I remember when they did this to me for the first time... 20 years later... They still do but its beautiful beautiful beautiful to watch you guys be born into another understanding. You guys have won a real fan... Im hitting the 🔔!
Tool is like the Holy Ghost you will receive it when you are ready. it truly is a experience wholly unto itself. having extremely good sound system turned up really loud to hear all of the small intricate details that go by so fast. It’s absolutely awesome.
Humans need to step out their lanes & broaden their musical range because their is so much out there that people don't or won't listen to. Watching this reaction is proof to that. Awesome reaction guys!
Experiencing greatness on a whole other level with this song, it's EVERYTHING and MORE!
The "perspective" of the lyrics? Is in the first verse. Angels on the sideline. They're up there watching what we are doing with what father gave us.
Every time I listen to any one of their songs, it's my favourite song. Whatever story it tells is perfectly told, and the degree to which it can resonate at any given time is always unpredictable.
Everyone loves Danny's drums which is fair enough, but Justins bass playing is amazing
It's exactly an extraterrestrial view, and glad you Like the Tabla drums in verse 2! As a drummer I have been fascinated that they make the Tabla pair by hand with strange materials! Keep up great reactions!!
Not a conspiracy theory at all! They match their time signatures with patterns found in sacred geometry. They hit specific frequencies to activate different centers of the brain-literally MAKING YOU FEEL what they want you to feel when you listen to that piece of a piece. It’s absolutely a journey and the science and math behind the music is astounding. Paired with the deep lyrics, they’re so so freaking top tier.
You hit the AIC comparison right on the head my man!
. When there is freedom to think. Anything is possible
The moment when you said was the solo rollercoaster and didn’t pause, Good. Tool has a way w long build up sessions that shouldn’t be interrupted to get the full experience. Good on you and nice reaction. Don’t be afraid of that “something stinks face” w headbob.
Love how this music got them thinking outside the box which is what tool is
