No Scottish football isn’t dying here’s why:
Scotland with a population of only 6m has the highest average attendance per head capita in Europe. Top flight clubs such as Ross county have also broken their record season attendance figures. Every year for the last 5 every Scottish club has had increased attendance figures except Celtic.
The Scottish games problem is the governing body corrupt to the core. Scottish football doesn’t have the advertisement or social media presence to promote itself. The main problem is comparing ourselves and people wanting to compete with England. England’s population alone is around 50m more people. Not to mention the financial situations. Celtic would have to win the treble in scotland every year for 75 years just to match the money made by Sunderland the year they got relegated... how can anyone compete with that??
Scottish football is great. I don’t see the obsession with English fans wanting to tarnish its reputation. You don’t see German fans constantly slating the Austrian league or Spanish fans bad mouthing the Portuguese league. Why does Scottish football HAVE to be as good as the Top 5 leagues and why is it ‘dying’ if not?
The fans and passion and Scottish games is incredible, the atmosphere is still local ie (our boys vs your boys) opposed to millionaires down south. The games in England shock me how bad the atmosphere is, Newcastle Sunderland derby arguably one of our biggest doesn’t even match the Scottish derbies, old firm, Dundee derby, highland derby, Edinburgh derby, renfrew derby.. can’t hear the commentators sometimes at these games.
I personally have no interest in English football anymore and find Scottish league more exciting for the European places and the relegation battles. Almost every English fan along with myself who’s decided to give Scottish football a try ends up pleasantly surprised how good it is. Not one Scottish fan claims the leagues good, they know where it’s at. English fans get butthurt when Scottish people say they only have interest for SPL. The argument is that only 1 team wins the league, and that’s why the BPL league is full of glory hunters and passionless fans. Football isn’t about trophies it’s about following your team through lows as well as highs

The arrogance on this video from English fans and the obligatory "hardcore" "lifelong" utd/city fans from Asia/Africa is unbelievable. Before all the t.v. money properly took effect, we (Celtic) and as much as it pains me to say it Rangers were actually capable of holding our own in Europe. I mean just look at our run to the Uefa cup final in 2003 and theirs in 2008.We dumped out Liverpool and Blackburn(when they weren't shite) and bunch of others. But when the likes of crystal palace can afford to blow 30 million on a player, what the fuck can we do?

Hold your own in Europe? Before 1992 how many Europeans cups had a Scottish side won? 1 in 1967
English teams were ruling European football Liverpool, Nottingham forest and Aston villa in a 7/8 year period won how many European cups between them? After 92 the gap got bigger because people are willing to pay to watch quality. I really don’t understand how people expect Scottish football to compete with England when there is such a gulf in finance. The PL tv rights deal is worth billions of pounds, and yet Thierry Henry earns more annually from Sky than the SPFL receive for tv rights. It doesn’t matter who we get through the door or raise from grassroots because an English team will poach them for a fraction of what they’re worth. Most Scottish teams don’t have the financial stability to turn down offers, which sees all of the leagues best players either head to Glasgow or down south.
Scottish football is stagnant. We’re caught in a constant cycle of not having enough money or not being able to hold onto our best players. How can anyone expect our league to grow?

Celtics season basically goes win the league qualify for ucl get knocked out of the group stage again then win the title over and over again there is no competition just an overrated team that will struggle to get in the too ten in the epl let's face it you can't really say they are a good team when they flop in Europe every season until Celtic atleast reach quarter or semi finals they remain irrelevant bring them to the epl and see what happens just another mid table team.

The Scottish game this season has been much more competitive than the English league. At the moment I would say Celtic is not killing the scottish game although, they have of course been the dominant team in Scotland for a long time. I think that is going to end soon with teams such as Hibs really looking like they are gonna challenge for the league title next season and other teams such as Kilmarnock who are really doing well despite their 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen.

Its not dead, its the most attended league in world football (average attendance per capita). We get unfairly compared to england because we’re next door which is a load of shit. Look and the difference of resources in England. We should be compared to leagues of similar sized nations like the swedish, norwegian, Croatian, swiss league ect. The gap in wealth between us and England is enormous. Celtic would need to win another 33 titles to match the amount of money that west brom will make for finishing bottom this season

Big Daddy It is dead though. Look at the 4 years Rangers weren’t at the top. Celtic’s average attendance dropped massively, every other league team attendance dropped. Rangers averaged an attendance of 40+ thousand fans while in the 3rd division of Scottish football. Actually the first year they played the 3rd division they had the highest average attendance in the whole of Scottish football. Rangers return to the top, Celtic are selling out their stadia come the old firm, Rangers are funding clubs like Partick when they’re taking 4,000-5,000 fans away.

That proves from the off that Celtic weren’t interested from the season Rangers went down until the season they came back up.

I guess it really all depends on what you mean by “dead”. Celtic winning the title is a foregone conclusion (or as close as you can get it sport) so in that sense you could argue that the competition is dead.
But if we’re talking in terms of fan engagement, as long as supporters of clubs aside from Celtic are still going to games and care about their teams, then Scottish football is still very much alive.

Celtic (as a brand) is also FAR more marketable with its Scottish and Irish connections as well as its atmosphere at games. Messi etc have stated their love for Celtic and if you were a player getting paid the same wage as at another club you’d probably prefer to play for Celtic.

If you watch a game between other SPL teams like Hearts and Hibs or Aberdeen and Kilmarnock you'll see the class. As hearts showed by not backing down they pumped Celtic! It's very easy for English Football fans to talk down the Scottish game - and they like to do it all the time - which is odd, because it's a pointless comparison. England is ten times the size of Scotland (in population terms) and the money involved in their game is sheer lunacy. However, the Scottish Premiership is still the best supported league in Europe (per head of population), different teams have been winning trophies in the last few years and despite the £Billions involved down south, the 'top teams' in England have been falling short in Europe recently. One day, the EPL will collapse on itself as the model is unsustainable. Try comparing the leagues then; when your Russian Oligarchs and Yank businessmen are no longer allowed to throw money around! Until such measures are taken, here's some advice; stick to supporting your own team, be proud of it, and leave others to do the same.

Celtic have raised the level and its up to the others to improve. An example of “just plodding along” is in Australia where the mentality is “there is always next year” with no relegation teams get complacent and near the end of every season , they just go through the motions. Promotion and relegation is vital for a competitive league.

Compare this to Scotland which has 6,000,000 people. We can't make football bigger and worth more because until each club becomes equal on terms of finances, Celtic will dominate and our country's size proves that despite this, we have the best attendance to population of country and our atmosphere is better even if the quality of football isn't the 'snoozefests' of the EPL.

Club size doesn't guarantee you top of the table especially when you already have well established clubs competing at the top of that league already such as United, City, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea will also bounce right back up there no doubt. So it's not a certainty Celtic would do well 5 years in that league

That's a fair point. For the size of the country, to maintain the same league structure as England has (In terms of top four division, albeit with less teams in each league) is impressive, especially when you look at Ireland for example.
Passion wise, yeah maybe Scotland has the edge on us, certainly as far as the premierships go, but English Football isn't just the prem. The fact that you get teams like Hereford just now getting promoted back up to the sixth tier, and still pulling in 5000 or so in the 7th and 8th tiers should tell something about that. Look at Lincoln City and tell me they don't have passion.
Anyway, I don't really care for the EPL. Non-league up to the championship is what I like. What's the point in watching your team jostle for top six every year? No playoffs, no promotion, just relegation, and maybe European Football with the same big clubs in Europe winning it every year. Watching your team win a relegation battle in league two is fucking amazing, but not in the premiership.

99% of football fans use "competitive" when in reality the correct word would be "inconsistent"
competitiveness is when lots of teams play really good football and all have a chance to the title. That is clearly not the case in English football, where pretty much any title winner has completely flopped the next season. Leicester winning the title is not proof for "competitiveness". Chelsea being 10th, winning the title, then back down to europa league football is not "competitiveness". All you delusional idiots try to pass off your bullshit "big six" as if anybody but the top 2 by november have a chance.
The inconsistency in the EPL is due to the style of play that doesn't promote good football whatsoever. That's why la liga has dominated the champions league. La liga plays way better football, and demands mechanical greatness from every team. Sociedad and Malaga are incredibly difficult to beat at home, Celta are a fantastic team who can knock out anyone; they beat madrid over two legs last season, and embarassed barca as well. Eibar, despite being basically a new club with a puny budget, have extracted fantastic football from their players to be a consistent top-10 spanish team.
Every team in la liga has the ability to beat players with the ball. Call it flash or whatever excuse you want, but it's the highest skill level there is. I love how man city brings the spanish style of football to england and absolutely destroys everyone. And still you egomaniacs are so blinded by your own media that you can't see what's happening right in front of you.

People who go to Scottish games don’t go for a day out they go to support their teams and that will never change. Scottish football also has one of the best supported leagues per person in Europe. Blackburn Rovers were the first team to win the title other than Manchester United back in 1994/95 season when under Kenny Dalgish and of course new owner Jack Walker who injected millions in the club to take them from league 1 to all the way premier league winners in very short span of time.
