350 flat tops 64cc heads comp biggest thumpr cam mild stall converter and a 3:42 in a s10 i had was a mean as hell sounding tire destroying little truck maybe made 300 to 350 hp.if lucky Summit racing stuff is all reboxed stuff from other suppliers most all good stuff. You can do the rocker ratio swap too say 1.7 and 1.6 . and degree a cam vs just slapping in heads up. Rich Holder helps guys destroy engines.
I gave up on the Mast Motorsports High output cam in my LS7 - it made good torque, but was way down on HP - it had .650 lift. I went with their SS cam which only has .640 lift and it makes 40 more hp with a wider duration. Just sayin :)
All of those kinds of changes come down to cylinder head designs. Flow bench work tells much more in terms of how a cam will work with certain heads. Boost cures all flow issues though!
Idk the specs of that cam, but you can break push rods in addition to having valve train instability due to push rod deflection. You may lose power if it deflects.
There is no "bad" cam from a good name, but there are bad combos. If you are unsure ask a friend. If in doubt go mild/good OE and add boost. My just for fun car has a L92 cam which was less than $40
@@mfr5725 i am running a 212/218 BTR copy also from china, i made my decision because i already have piston slap and figured a $110 cam on a 230k mile engine with issues was worth a gamble. Been running it untunned for roughly 2 months and until now no issues aside from stalling a few times due to lack of tune.
@@mfr5725 i have a 2011 SS too but that one is getting a full GPI SS2 kit with 3400 converter and 3.91 gears. My truck only has the cam and spring upgrade with everything else re-used, however i do have a set of 3.73 i need to install which is why i havent tuned it yet.
Engineer, I know its not what you meant but when you make statements like take a cam and stick it in your junk , you got to worn people i spit my dollar store cola drink all over the place. i like your brand of matter of factterly advice and there you go isims but damn and then you finish them of with the go faster adding turbo tid-bit. folks can learn alot from you and others if they would just listen
Yeah I had a cam installed my truck not long ago does mold cop cam was messed up it ran good fast the new that was put in supposed to be better but the trucks a second slower I wish there was a way find out if they really put the cam in there that they said they did

My sprint car engine has a sloppy stage 3. I asked what was common cams used. That was close enough. The right foot will handle the rest.

Just picked up a 2015 427 cam with springs, keepers ,push rods. Going in a 6.2 truck motor. It was cheap. Great used deals out there.

Right now the stage 1 1838 runs $240, the 1839 runs $190 and 1840 which is the sloppy 2 runs $120 on eBay. Ls9 profile can be had right under $100
Lots of Chinese knock offs on the SS2, not that they're bad, but it's gambling with your engine imo.

You can take a stock cam, and grind material off it to make the lobes have a more aggressive shape
