This easy and cheap to make raccoon bait never fails. It is my go to bait for tough to catch trap shy raccoons. Video Product Link Canada: amzn.to/2VEEo2Z USA: amzn.to/3jD7fN1
I tried different baits ( sardines, honey and peanut butter, tuna) and none of them worked after several days of trying. I made up this bait and placed it out last night in the trap and had a big raccoon trapped this morning. It really does work.
I also use dog proof traps that way I'm not getting unintended animals the smoked baby oysters slid inside the traps then with the oil on my hand I rub it on grass about a foot off the ground I've been on a run of new sets and have caught as many as 15 coon in a night
Wow!!!!! I have put everything in the trap trying to catch the pregnant coon living under the bathtub. I caught the male with peanut butter. I was ready to cut the wall out tomorrow. I made the cherry marshmallow Recipe and no joke within 15 minutes she was trapped. It’s almost like she smelled it and ran straight to it. Thank you!! 💯🙏
OK, I have 6-12 35+ pound raccoons in my yard. I use an XL live trap (36"x15"x14") and have many neighborhood cats, skunks, and Opossums. I set up a camera and baited with marshmallows. I watched four big boys sit in the trap, reach over the trigger, and eat my bait. I then put bait under the trigger, and they reached in, pulled up on the trigger, and took the bait without triggering the trap. Finally, I used this bait in a small jar and added some to the bottom of the trap behind the trigger along with marshmallows. The big boys (38+ pounds) ate all the bait with no trigger but came back in the trap to clean this bait off the trap bottom and I got them!
Easily the best bait ever, thanks so much for sharing. Had one stubborn one that would not eat the bait, no matter what. Put this out and had it took it over night. Amazing!!! It worked when nothing else did.
Thank you !!! Your bait helped me catch trouble makers that that might have destroyed my two young cherry trees. I had tried simple cherries around and in the trap and theyu didn't work. Using your bait, I caught a possum on the first week, a skunk on the second week and a racoon on the third week !
I wanted to thank you very much for the bait idea. Worked first night after trying everything else including lobster shells, sardines and prime rib bones. Awesome advice. My chickens are safe !
Thanks for this information. I have been trying to trap some destructive raccoons but not having any success with the sardines that have always worked previously. When you reported to use sweet baits in the summer made total sense. The Dollar General didn't have any Cool Aid so I used Jello instead to your recipe and I caught one of the raccoons this morning. Thank so much for the help.
if you watch this video, it is a bait for when the normal stuff won't work, i have caught lots with all sorts of bait...but if i get a difficult or trap shy bunch, this is my go to :)
@@NBWildman I DID watch the video. I used to live by a creek in a small town and trapped and released over 10 raccoons there. Since then I moved to an island and see 6+ raccoons on my night security camera. Raccoons were introduced to Europe by hunters who sought to kill them for sport. But they weren't successful enough because now Europe is full of raccoons. They totally destroyed an old vacant trailer home on my property. How? I was keeping cats and cat food in the trailer accessible only through a very small cat door. I managed to fool them for 3 years but they caught on and it was all over. My one surviving geriatric cat now lives exclusively inside my home. Watch the hour long documentary made in Canada. Very informative. It is based on world wide research and destroys some myths about raccoons. They are destroying Japan after a children's cartoon there endeared them and caused someone to illegally import one. Raccoons will easily kill and eat a cat. There is a report of this happening in Tacoma, WA. I've learned my lesson: either get a dog or keep your cats & cat food indoors.
Take a can of tuna, pop some holes in it then set it under the cage on the end with the trap (step) release. They walk inside to get it but it's underneath it. Works like a charm, takes barely any work and is less than $1.
I use maraschino cherries with a hanging marshmallow and If they are really tuff a cd hanging at the very back of the box. Works well up here in Manitoba Canada. Cool to see other set ups keep the fun content coming
I used live traps with smoked oysters. Peel the can back an inch. In less than two wks. I caught 11 coons in a small town next to the woods. Also a few possums in MO.
Attempted to trap a raccoon living in my attic for 4 weeks. Tried chicken, hot dogs, marshmallows - nothing worked. Mixed up a batch of this bait one night and the raccoon was in the trap the next morning. They should call this stuff raccoon crack.
They are too dang smart. Popped two at my pile of marshmallows a couple weeks ago, but now they won't go near marshmallows. Seriously, who told them not to go near marshmallows?? But I guess they just can't resist some sweet cherry & vanilla marshmallows.
Great video sir! I do 4-month contract work starting next week and run over 300 DP's, body grip and cage traps for racoons and skunks mainly. I use combination of dry cat or dog food, corn and mixed with Anise oil. Key is to prevent mold as traps sit out for awhile before being rebaited. All DP's have covers and I use 4 oz white plastic ointment jars for connis and cages to keep rain out. Curious, if you have another dry bait recipe as is nice to switch up bait as racoons/skunks? I also use fish or sweet type spray as a "lure" beside trap. Thanks.

I think my raccoons are either stupid or very hungry.😂 I’ve caught them with every kind of bait imaginable! I’ve used marshmallows, honeybuns, canned cat food, sardines, cantaloupe, and bananas. I’ve caught raccoons, groundhogs, opossums, skunks, cats and one time even a red fox! Be sure to check your traps every day, so the animal doesn’t die from exposure to the elements, or lack of water.
Over the years I've noticed different baits work in different areas. In the city, or in a neighborhood, cat food works fine. But on a trap line along the river, or somewhere they don't see many humans and they're still timid,, something like this works much better.
I enjoyed watching your videos NBWildman; I'm on the other side of Canada, BC. I had a picky coon who was not going for chicken, sardines, pistachios and cat food. I kept your secret mix in mind for backup, but didn't use it right away because it seemed like a lot of work. I finally tried the winning combo of an egg, cashews and corn, which did the trick. I made a batch of your recipe but can't get it to stick to the 2x3" plate. I let it dry out a bit to get thicker but it still wouldn't stick. I also tried the lard bait but it too wont stick. And the little black ants swarm all over the bait. Does that deter the raccoon? Also, I screwed the bucket to the door a can see where that could be handful to the raccoon so will change that. the bait can just go in behind the flat pan, doesn't have to be on it, the coon will move the pan to get a better access to the bait and then he's toast

Stale Mini marshmallows and dust with cherry koolaid or jello. I trap with DPs at deer feeders. Never fails. I manage for wildlife on my place surrounded by mixed hardwood and pine plantations. What about a raccoon that will not enter the trap? I've seen it reaching in through the cage and stealing my bait. Every bit. It's quite wily. I do not have areas that are covered with leaves or low bushes to hide the trap. I did catch 2, but this last one is driving me and my indoor only cats crazy.
My question is, Does your bait catch a lot of squirrels, and have deer spring your traps as they go for it. I know bears would go wild for this bait for sure!! Thanks
Once you catch a raccoon in the trap, any suggestions on how to let it out without getting hurt? Will they try to attack you if you open the end to let them out?
Cover the trap with a blanket or towel before you move it, when you gonna release they will only see the opening and bolt out straight! Make sure to point it in the direction you want them to run!

I do not have areas that are covered with leaves or low bushes to hide the trap. I did catch 2, but this last one is driving me and my indoor only cats crazy.
Check out last weeks video called raccoon trapping pro tip. They won’t steal your bait if you do this
Wrap your cage in tighter woven mesh
I just used 50 cent cants of cat food - fish versions. I do use marshmellows in my leg traps
That's a good one. A highly pungent smell to draw their attention. Thanks for the recommendation.
What is the Baking soda for?
replaces the natural sodium carbonate or soda ash found in the wild
Please tell me what the baking soda is for kind sir
It keeps the raccoon from getting gas after it eats that nasty stuff.
Nice! How long does it hold up?
Depends, i keep mine sealed in old peanut butter jars, keeps for a long time
My question is,
Does your bait catch a lot of squirrels, and have deer spring your traps as they go for it.
I know bears would go wild for this bait for sure!!
Thanks
I wonder if that will work on skunks ?
haven't got any skunks on it yet, but i can't see why it wouldn't work
Honey buns work like a peice of cake
I always used canned tuna in northern Ohio.
He is attracting the raccoons with the hopes of diabetes 😂
Making my second batch now. I did this about a month ago when I found two raccoons eating my greens and my chicken feed. So now to trap his brother.
trap them all !!
A man soak chicken gizzards in cherry Kool aid caught some big cat fish
good tip
Once you catch a raccoon in the trap, any suggestions on how to let it out without getting hurt? Will they try to attack you if you open the end to let them out?
i just roll the trap over and the door falls open, they allways bolt away from you. i have never had one turn on me yet....but that's me
@@NBWildman that's a good idea to turn the trap over. Thanks
Cover the trap with a blanket or towel before you move it, when you gonna release they will only see the opening and bolt out straight! Make sure to point it in the direction you want them to run!
I always kill them😘
why release it put it down
