I love Deftones, my favorite band of all time, but Stephen Carpenter is not a very good guitarist at all... that guy is just adding strings and playing in whatever key his top sting is in at the time.. he's also using the same chord structures he's been using for 25 + years. I love it for what it is.. but Chino and Abe are the driving talent in that band.. shit there's a recent album that he admits to barely playing on.. Ohms I think it was.

"Say what you will about Limp Bizkit..."
I'll say this: they sold 40 million albums in their career and blended nu-metal with melodic licks, actually decent rapping, damn tight grooves of the bass and percussion working together in an atmosphere of a highly pyroclastic soundscape of the 90s and early 2000s. The juvenile machismo of Fred was chided far too often but the man has produced more artists and brought more platinum selling artists to the mainstream than we ever bothered to mention because we were too busy riding the hate bus.

IMO, the key to sounding like Wes, is knowing exactly when to stop working on a riff. He always gives his riffs just enough to be interesting, and quits adding before the groove gets too cluttered. You can see the Primus influence, Larry is also a master of this type of riffage, though Lary usually creates chaos rather than groove. Kristofer Steen from Refused is another great example. I tend make riffs pretty busy, but I think theres allot to be learned from players like Wes.

The rhythm section of Limp Bizkit are the best of those that came out in the 90s. If you want to really experience why, find the Limp Bizkit tracks where the vocals have been mixed out. You can hear all the amazing, drums, bass and layered guitar that show why. Sam, John and Wes are really overshadowed by an MTV clown who kind of undermined the legacy of some incredible musicians.

You play much better by technique aspects than Borland, IMHO

How to sound like Wes Borland? Take a beat-up, dinged and gouged guitar you found in a dumpster with one rusty string on it, plug it into a shitty combo amp with half of the tubes blown, crank the volume and throw the guitar down a flight of stairs. There you go! LOL!

Haha! Gosh you don't think much of Wes's tone.

“How to sound like Wes Borland?”
Playing his parts right would be the first step, lmao.

It's very unfortunate that Limp Bizkit's musical craftmanship is buried under Durst's crap vocals.

I expect how to sound like wes to have a run down of his rig, not how to play the riffs ie Wes Borlands guitar techniques still a good video just kind of misleading title or atleast confusing.

Играть партии Борланда, для этого достаточно чувствовать правую руку и левую руку. А ещё быть самим собой, хотя бы иногда.
